Plot

Nick Fallin is a hotshot lawyer working at his father's ultrasuccessful Pittsburgh law firm. Unfortunately, the high life has gotten the best of Nick. Arrested for drug use, he's sentenced to do 1,500 hours of community service, somehow to be squeezed into his 24/7 cutthroat world of mergers, acquisitions and board meetings. Reluctantly, he's now The Guardian - a part-time child advocate at Legal Aid Services, where one case after another is an eye-opening instance of kids caught up in difficult circumstances.

Released in late September 2006, and directed by Andrew Davis - this $80-million dollar film only earned $15-million in profit. Kevin Costner and Aston Kutcher star in this action-adventure drama film that focuses on the life and training of the United State Coast Guard's elite rescue swimming team. Neal McDonough, Melissa Sagemiller, and Clancy Brown round out the supporting cast with commendable contributions, but the real focus on this picture is Costner and Kutcher. Costner is an extremely proficient rescue diver, capable of saving everything but his failing marriage. Whereas Kutchner is the hot-shot trainee more focused on breaking swimming records than saving lives. Both men are brilliant in their respective teacher / student roles, bouncing off each other with charged performances, especially in one emotional scene where Costner opens up about his troubled past, advising his protégé, " Save the ones you can. The rest, you've got to let go." Bookended by positively thrilling rescue-sequences on the turbulent seas in the Gulf of Alaska, the majority of the picture is your typical "boot camp" story... as we watch a group of promising cadets go through every test of endurance and skill to prove their readiness, as only 280 make the cut from a pool of 39,000. The 139-minute feature doesn't break any new ground during this middle-portion, but it's competently executed with effective use of Trevor Rabin's hory-heavy score and some brisk editing. With one lone exception however, the requisite training montage was stylistically, but curiously, filmed on low-definition video. An impressive chunk of the water scenes were filmed in a giant indoor pool built specially for this production... but its incorporation is so flawless, you never notice. The pacing of this picture never feels slow, but it does seem to contain a bit too much story for its own good, the middle training academy portion honestly could have been its own standalone movie. What "Top Gun" is to fighter pilots, this fun and re-watchable experience is to the US Coast Guard. The PG-13 rated adventure is capped off with a beautifully resounding epilogue that definitely stayed with me. Although fairly predictable and formulaic, this is a wonderful film that will make you laugh, cry, and of course, appreciate the real men and women who serve around the world. On a lonely alien planet shrouded in mystery, an ominous beast guards a powerful treasure. One day he receives an unexpected guest - A seemingly innocent girl crash lands on his world. The two will forge an unusual friendship, and teach one another that looks can indeed be deceiving.
A film by Studio Steve.
Co-Directed by Gordy Higgins, Ryan Zujic and Christoffer Klungerbo. Narrated by Adam Behr. Music and sound by Martin Alternes and Stian Obehi Ihasee.

The Guardian:
The Guardian follows a young environmental ambassador with a tangible enthusiasm for birds, conservation and education. Tribute “Birdie” Mboweni lives in solitude on Dassen Island in order to protect and study the largest colony of African Penguins in Africa. Her work is vital to the survival of this species which could be facing extinction within only 10 years and her story, is one of inspiration as she seeks to “plant the seed” of conservation in others. As one of the finalists of the Bayer Young Environmental Envoy, her role as a conservation ambassador has recently been realized with a trip to Canada to represent SA at the G8/G20 Youth Summit May 2010.
The documentary explores Tribute’s unique role on the island as well as, her own personal journey of discovery and guardianship. Tribute guides the audience through her experiences as a conservationist, illuminating with her quiet passion what it takes to truly connect with nature and the importance of preserving the beauty of this world.
Today only 25262 breeding pairs of the African Penguin remain.
The Guardian is produced by African Renaissance Productions as part of the Caretakers series for STEPS and SANBI.

The X Factor: Incredibly nervous 16-year-old Janet has flown over from the depths of Ireland to be at her audition. Living in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere has meant that she spends a lot of time on her own, using her songwriting abilities as a form of escapism. She's not sung in public before due to her lack of confidence, but she's managed to summon some courage to perform today. One look at the judges' faces proves that her trip to England wasn't wasted. On a lonely alien planet shrouded in mystery, an ominous beast guards a powerful treasure. One day he receives an unexpected guest - A seemingly innocent girl crash lands on his world. The two will forge an unusual friendship, and teach one another that looks can indeed be deceiving.
A film by Studio Steve.
Co-Directed by Gordy Higgins, Ryan Zujic and Christoffer Klungerbo. Narrated by Adam Behr. Music and sound by Martin Alternes and Stian Obehi Ihasee.

The Guardian:
The Guardian follows a young environmental ambassador with a tangible enthusiasm for birds, conservation and education. Tribute “Birdie” Mboweni lives in solitude on Dassen Island in order to protect and study the largest colony of African Penguins in Africa. Her work is vital to the survival of this species which could be facing extinction within only 10 years and her story, is one of inspiration as she seeks to “plant the seed” of conservation in others. As one of the finalists of the Bayer Young Environmental Envoy, her role as a conservation ambassador has recently been realized with a trip to Canada to represent SA at the G8/G20 Youth Summit May 2010.
The documentary explores Tribute’s unique role on the island as well as, her own personal journey of discovery and guardianship. Tribute guides the audience through her experiences as a conservationist, illuminating with her quiet passion what it takes to truly connect with nature and the importance of preserving the beauty of this world.
Today only 25262 breeding pairs of the African Penguin remain.
The Guardian is produced by African Renaissance Productions as part of the Caretakers series for STEPS and SANBI.

On a lonely alien planet shrouded in mystery, an ominous beast guards a powerful treasure. One day he receives an unexpected guest - A seemingly innocent girl crash lands on his world. The two will forge an unusual friendship, and teach one another that looks can indeed be deceiving.
A film by Studio Steve.
Co-Directed by Gordy Higgins, Ryan Zujic and Christoffer Klungerbo. Narrated by Adam Behr. Music and sound by Martin Alternes and Stian Obehi Ihasee.

The Guardian:
The Guardian follows a young environmental ambassador with a tangible enthusiasm for birds, conservation and education. Tribute “Birdie” Mboweni lives in solitude on Dassen Island in order to protect and study the largest colony of African Penguins in Africa. Her work is vital to the survival of this species which could be facing extinction within only 10 years and her story, is one of inspiration as she seeks to “plant the seed” of conservation in others. As one of the finalists of the Bayer Young Environmental Envoy, her role as a conservation ambassador has recently been realized with a trip to Canada to represent SA at the G8/G20 Youth Summit May 2010.
The documentary explores Tribute’s unique role on the island as well as, her own personal journey of discovery and guardianship. Tribute guides the audience through her experiences as a conservationist, illuminating with her quiet passion what it takes to truly connect with nature and the importance of preserving the beauty of this world.
Today only 25262 breeding pairs of the African Penguin remain.
The Guardian is produced by African Renaissance Productions as part of the Caretakers series for STEPS and SANBI.

The Guardian is a 2006 action-adventure drama film starring Kevin Costner, Ashton Kutcher, and Melissa Sagemiller. The film was released on September 29, 2006, and was directed by Andrew Davis, director of The Fugitive. The setting for the film is the United States Coast Guard and their Aviation Survival Technician (AST) program.
Ben Randall (Kevin Costner) is the top rescue swimmer at the United States Coast Guard's Aviation Survival Technician (AST) program, who continues to work against regulation past the age of 40. Jake Fischer (Ashton Kutcher) is a hot-shot candidate for AST who was ranked as a top competitive swimmer in high school with scholarships to every Ivy league college, but opted to enlist in the Coast Guard. The film's title is introduced by a mythic tale: people lost at sea often claim they feel a presence lifting them to the surface, breathing life into their bodies while they are waiting for help to arrive. They call this presence "The Guardian."
Ben is confronted by his wife, asking for a separation due to his frequent time at work. He receives a page for an immediate rescue. Out at sea, he loses his rescue team in an HH-60J Jayhawk helicopter crash and while waiting in a survival raft, his best friend, Chief Petty Officer Carl Billings (Omari Hardwick), dies. Shaken, he is forced to either retire or teach at a Coast Guard training school; he reluctantly chooses the latter. Here, Jake arrives as a hopeful AST candidate at "A" school, where Ben is considered a legend with a countless number of saves.
