CFRA is a Conservative talk radio station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, owned by Bell Media. The station broadcasts at 580 kHz on the AM band.

Frank Ryan founded the station, which began broadcasting with a 1000 watt transmitter at 560 kHz on May 3, 1947. The first studios were located at the Ottawa Auditorium on O'Connor Street, where the station spent its first ten years. In 1962, the station moved to its present frequency (580 kHz) and increased its daytime power to 50 kW, and nighttime power to 10 kW.

After Ryan's death in 1965, ownership of the station passed to his wife Kathleen, who subsequently sold CFRA and sister station CFMO-FM to CHUM Limited in 1968.

Between 1980 and 1984 on Saturday afternoons from 2 to 5pm; CFRA had once held an Oldies Show by Satellite that was hosted by American comedian Gary Owens of formerly of the Laugh-in TV show; it was entitled Soundtrack Of The Sixties, where song requests were offered by postcard to the station as an entry towards the yearly-end prize.

Lowell Green (born 7 July 1936) is a Canadian radio personality. He hosts The Lowell Green Show, a conservative morning talk show on Ottawa radio station CFRA, and has also syndicated programming to several other Canadian radio stations.

Green was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States, to Canadian parents, and immigrated to Canada.

Green graduated from Macdonald Agricultural College of McGill University near Montreal in 1956. He started his radio career in Brantford, Ontario, subsequently moving to stations in Sudbury and Montreal. In Montreal, Green won awards for his coverage of the Springhill mining disaster in Nova Scotia.

Green arrived at CFRA in 1960 as a news and farm reporter. In 1966, he began hosting Greenline, and eventually became the longest-running open line talk show host in North America. He retired briefly from radio in the 1980s, but returned in 1990.

He attempted to win the Liberal party nomination for the Pontiac riding in the 1968 federal election but lost this bid to Thomas Lefebvre.

Timothy Patrick "Tim" Hudak (born November 1, 1967) is a politician in Ontario, Canada, and the Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario (PC Party). He also serves as member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for the riding of Niagara West—Glanbrook.

Tim Hudak was born in Fort Erie, Ontario. His father was a high school principal and his mother was a teacher. He received a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario in 1990. He then studied at the University of Washington in Seattle on a full scholarship. He received a master's degree in economics in 1993. Prior to being elected, Hudak worked on the U.S. – Canada Border from 1988 to 1993. Before entering public life, he worked for the Fort Erie Economic Development Corporation. In 1994, he was hired as a travelling manager by Wal-Mart, instructing employees on the company's policies and operating procedures.

Hudak's grandparents came to Canada from Slovakia in advance of World War II.

In the provincial election of 1995, Hudak defeated Liberal Aubrey Foley by 1,081 votes in the riding of Niagara South. The Progressive Conservatives won a majority government under Mike Harris, although Hudak was not appointed to cabinet during his first term in office. He served as parliamentary secretary to Minister of Health, Jim Wilson, and his successor, Elizabeth Witmer. During this term, the government closed 28 hospitals and fired more than 6,000 nurses, but was also able to negotiate an agreement to exempt rural and northern hospitals from closure, including four in the Niagara region.

Barbara Ann Scott King, (born May 9, 1928 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) is a four-time Canadian figure skating Champion (1944–46, 48). She is the 1948 Olympic Champion and two-time World Champion (1947–1948) in ladies singles. Known as "Canada's Sweetheart", she is the only Canadian to win the ladies singles figure skating gold medal, the first North American to win three major titles in one year and the only Canadian to win the European Championship (1947–1948). During her forties she was rated among the top equestrians in North America. She has received many honours and accolades, including being made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1991 and a member of the Order of Ontario in 2008.

Barbara Ann Scott is the youngest of three children born to Canadian Army Colonel Clyde Rutherford Scott and Mary Purves of Sandy Hill in Ottawa. She began skating at the age of seven with the Minto Skating Club. At the age of ten she became the youngest ever to pass the "gold figures test" and at eleven years old won her first national junior title. Two years later, in 1942, she became the first female to ever land a double lutz in competition, and by the age of fifteen was Canada's "senior champion". From 1944 to 1946, she held the Canadian Figure Skating championship. In 1947 Scott became the first North American to win both the European and World Figure Skating championships, and remains the only Canadian to win the European title. This led to her being voted Canadian Newsmaker of the Year in 1947. On her return to Ottawa during a parade she was given a yellow Buick convertible (license plate: 47-U-1); however it had to be returned for her to retain amateur status, so as to be able to compete in the 1948 Winter Olympics.

Ann Scott (b. 3 November 1965, Paris, France) is a French novelist.

She is regarded as a social realist for her novels, which paint detailed portraits of contemporary youth haunted by teenage boredom, drugs, materialism, status obsession and social trangression. Her second novel Superstars has given her a cult status in France.

She was born and raised in Paris, France. Her mother is a news photographer of Russian descent, and her father, a French businessman and art collector.

At age 16, she moved alone to London, England where she became a musician, playing drums with local punk bands. At 18, she turned to fashion modelling for three years and was one of the first tattooed fashion model to break through in prêt-à-porter and couture in the eighties.

She is now a fiction writer and the author of six novels including Superstars which has become a cult novel translated in several countries. She also publishes short stories in magazines and co-wrote Paradize for French band Indochine for their album of the same title.
