Battlefield Iraq: Heavy Intense Firefight Between Kurdish&Iraqi; Security Forces And Al-Qaeda Affiliates In Kirkuk Iraq. Heavy Fighting And Firefight In Kirkuk Iraq as several Gunmen related to Al-Qaida raided a mall located in Kirkuk province in Iraq. Civilian hostages were also taken. As the clashes continued, gunmen, some of them wearing suicide vests, stormed the adjacent mall, took shoppers hostage and moved up the five-storey complex to the roof, from where they opened fire on security personnel who attempted to enter. The gunfight lasted several hours and one armed militant was captured alive during the operation. Kirkuk has a mixed population of Arabs, Kurds and Turkmen. Thats why the local Iraqi Security Forces had help from a Kurdish Anti Terror Unit. Kirkuk lies at the centre of a swathe of territory stretching from Iraq's eastern border with Iran to its western frontier with Syria that Kurdish leaders want to incorporate into their autonomous region in the north over strenuous objections from the central government in Baghdad. Militants often exploit poor communication between the Iraqi army and Kurdish security forces to carry out attacks in the city. At least 19 people have been killed and 70 wounded after the siege on the Iraqi mall in the northern city of Kirkuk, as well as an attack on an intelligence HQ. Security forces have rescued 11 hostages, ending the mall siege. Officials have blamed the upsurge in violence to a resurgent Al-Qaeda emboldened by the civil war in neighbouring Syria, but the government has itself faced criticism for not doing enough to address the concerns of Iraq's disaffected Sunni Arab minority ahead of April elections. Despite a near-ubiquitous security force presence in major cities nationwide, attacks have hit targets ranging from cafes and football grounds to military checkpoints and government vehicles, with more than 6,200 people killed so far. The violence has forced the authorities to appeal for international help in combatting militancy. Map of Location: http://bit.ly/1m9xtAg Want to see more HD combat videos? Iranian President Hassan Rouhani To Ann Curry:
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani To Ann Curry: "We Are Seeking Peace"
  • Order:
  • Duration: 3:35
  • Updated: 19 Sep 2013
In his first interview with the Western press, recently elected Iranian President Hassan Rouhani spoke with NBC News' Ann Curry about nuclear weapons, Israel, President Obama, and Iran's desire for peace. "We are not seeking ... and looking for war with any nations. We are seeking peace and stability among all the nations in the region," Rouhani said, adding that "under no circumstances would we seek any weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, nor will we ever." While promising not to build nuclear weapons isn't exactly a new line for Iranian leaders, it's still something, especially since Rouhani claimed to have Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's permission to make a deal with the West over Iran's nuclear program. Rouhani also told Curry about his relationship with his new pen pal President Obama, who wrote Rouhani a congratulatory letter shortly after he was elected president in June. "From my point of view, the tone of the letter was positive and constructive," Rouhani said, acknowledging the 33-year absence of diplomatic relations between the countries. "It could be subtle and tiny steps for a very important future." Of course, a major obstacle in the US-Iran relationship is Israel, a country Rouhani described in the interview as "an occupier and usurper government that does injustice to the people of the region, and has brought instability to the region, with its warmongering policies." When asked if he agreed with his predecessor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's comments that the Holocaust was a "myth," Rouhani dodged the question while seeming to acknowledge the sensitivity of the issue. "I'm not a historian. I'm a politician," he replied. "What is important for us is that the countries of the region and the people grow closer to each other, and that they are able to prevent aggression and injustice."

Boko Haram Leader Shekau Releases Video On Abduction Of Chibok Girls
Boko Haram Leader Shekau Releases Video On Abduction Of Chibok Girls
  • Order:
  • Duration: 56:59
  • Updated: 05 May 2014
The leader of Boko Haram sect, Imam Abubakar Shekau, released a video today in which he claimed responsibility for abducting the Nigerian school girls, and said he will soak all Nigerian soil with Christian blood, and Muslims opposing them, whom he described as infidels. The video lasts 56 minutes and 58 seconds, and shows Iman Shekau speaking from a script, surrounded by heavily armed fighters, backed by an armored personnel carrier, and two other armed vehicles. Iman Shekau said, "I am the one that took your girls. Are you the one that created the girls? I will sell them in the market. I have my own market of selling human beings. It is Allah, the owner that instructed me to sell. I will sell the girls." And he added, "It is Allah that instructed us, until we soak the ground of Nigeria with Christian blood and so called Muslims contradicting Islam. After we have killed, killed, killed, and get fatigue and wondering on what to do with smelling of their corpses, smelling of Obama, Bush and Jonathan worried us then we will open prison and be imprisoned the rest. Infidels have no value." 234 Nigerian schoolgirls, aged between 15-18, were abducted from a remote school in Chibok village, Borno State, in Northeast Nigeria on April 15. The girls and young women came from schools in Izge, Lassa, Ashigashiya and Warabe to do final exams because other the schools were shut in Borno state because of attacks by Boko Haram. Iman Shekau said the sects friends are those in Afghanistan, Mali, Yemen and Pakistan, and not those Arabs who just bragged with their colors but deal with Americans and the West. Shekau said there is slavery in Islam, contrary to his critics, noting that Prophet Muhammed took slaves during Badr war in Hejaz region of western Arabia in present day Saudi Arabia. Shekau said, "Just because I took girls in Western school they are worried. I say they (the girls) should desert the school. They should go and marry. Stupid people. Talking about human rights and democracy. Nonsense. People that are doing same sex marriage and saying they are leaders." And he added, "I will imprison Jonathan's daughter, any one that turn to Islam will be saved. For me anyone that embraces Islam is my own. Stupid Jonathan, you will be surprise. Until the land is soaked with blood." Later he said, "This is a war against Christians and democracy and their constitution, we have not started, we will be in Abuja, and in your state. This war is against Christians, I mean Christians, generally the infidels. Allah says we should finish them when we get them." Shekau boasted in the video that he has no business with infidel's money, "I have no time with your trillion. I am working for Allah and will die for it. No one can stop me. You killed Mohammed Yusuf. Are you not saying he is even better than Shekau? Even if you kill me, other fighters will rise better than me, I am nothing and worthless before Allah who I am working for. You are sitting with Christians and saying we are one, saying there is no difference. We are not one with infidels." Later he said, "It is a lie, in fact you suppose to wash and re-wash a plate Christian eats food before you eat as Muslims. You know all these things and you are contradicting Islam. Are Christians the people we should play with? They killed us in Shendam, Zangon Katab and all the places. It is either you are with us or you are with them, and when we see you, we will harvest your neck with knife." He cursed Islamic political leaders the late Malam Aminu Kano, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, and Islamic scholar, Usman Dan Fodio as infidels for working and accepting democracy and constitution, and added, "We are not ignorant of all that happened." The mass abduction three weeks ago, and the Nigerian military's failure to rescue the girls and young women, has roused national and international outrage with protests in major cities in Nigeria, and across the world. A number of girls have escaped who said their captors identified themselves as Boko Haram. Nigerian Police Commissioner, Tanko Lawan told reporters the number of escaped girls is 53.

Will 'Climate Change' Forever Alter U.S. Military Policy?
Will 'Climate Change' Forever Alter U.S. Military Policy?

  • Updated: 05 Mar 2014
The Defense Department's Quadrennial Defense Review was released yesterday. It says the effects of "climate change" are a "threat multiplier" which will alter global defense policies well into the future. Due to the many anticipated effects of climate change, the Pentagon will have to rethink its training, its missions and how to deliver humanitarian aid in a world that could be destabilized by "climate change." That's a big adjustment for a theory which claims that the globe is not only warming, but human fuel emissions are primarily responsible for it. To avoid precision, the matter is delicately called "climate change" since that common term avoids the concepts of heating or cooling. Perhaps that's because in the 1970s, "global cooling" fears foretold of an ice age that did not happen—unless you count this winter. All kidding aside, the Pentagon report says "climate change" will "aggravate stressors." The Washington Examiner noted that these "stressors" include "poverty, environmental degradation, political instability and social tensions." The Pentagon report darkly adds that these dire conditions "can enable terrorist activity and other forms of violence." Therefore, it follows that reducing greenhouse gas emissions will reduce all sorts of problems, including terrorist activities. That's because heating the planet could cause drought and famine, and those things, in turn, could spark upheaval and push enraged populations toward violence. Of course, the Pentagon's review recognizes that such a scenario would affect the military's installations and operations. The review states: "The department's operational readiness hinges on unimpeded access to land, air, and sea training and test space. Consequently, we will complete a comprehensive assessment of all installations to assess the potential impacts of climate change on our missions and operational resiliency, and develop and implement plans to adapt as required." An advocacy group called the Truman National Security Project seeks to end oil dependence. The group feels the Pentagon's 2014 review is far better than its 2010 review in assessing the effects of climate change. Yet, the 2014 report was released right after the co-founder of Greenpeace gave global warming a chilly review on Capitol Hill. Patrick Moore last week told the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee there's "no scientific proof" that human emissions of carbon dioxide are the dominant cause of minor atmospheric warming over the past 100 years. He also told the Senators that political bias has tainted so-called climate-change "science." To be fair, it's premature to call global warming a mirage simply on the basis of Moore's remarks. But consider this: America's military has impoverished and radicalized entire nations in the brutal quest for oil and natural gas resources—the very same resources blamed for causing climate change. Nations on the hit list have included Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan. So maybe we Americans should make a deal with the federal government: If military policies must be molded to the global warming theory, then let's have no more wars for oil. Furthermore, instead of debating whether to get oil from beneath Middle Eastern kingdoms or Canadian tarsands, America could get serious about hydrogen cars. America and the world also could explore the naturally-occurring free-energy sources attributed to famed visionary Nicola Tesla. Sharply reducing oil dependency not only means innovation and jobs. It also means that, if global warming is for real, we're already covered. President Obama says that US forces will end most combat operations in Afghanistan by spring, and switch to a 'support' role. That's the outcome of a meeting between the President and Afghan leader, Khamid Karzai, in what's thought to be the final chapter of America's military presence in the country. But as RT's Gayane Chichackyan reports, the US troops could remain in Afghanistan well beyond 2014. Boko Haram Leader Shekau Releases Video On Abduction Of Chibok Girls
Boko Haram Leader Shekau Releases Video On Abduction Of Chibok Girls

NSA Whistleblower Edward Snowden Alternative Christmas Message: End Mass Surveillance
NSA Whistleblower Edward Snowden Alternative Christmas Message: End Mass Surveillance

NSA Whistleblower Edward Snowden Alternative Christmas Message: End Mass Surveillance Ex-National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden has delivered an "alternative" UK Christmas message, urging an end to mass surveillance. The broadcast was carried on Channel 4 as an alternative to the Queen's traditional Christmas message. Mr Snowden focused on privacy, saying: "A child born today will grow up with no conception of privacy at all." The 30-year-old has temporary asylum in Russia after leaking details of US electronic surveillance programmes. 'Mission accomplished' Mr Snowden opened his two-minute message, recorded in Russia, with a reference to novelist George Orwell, author of 1984, saying the surveillance technology described in his works was "nothing compared to what we have today". He said: "A child born today will grow up with no conception of privacy at all. They'll never know what it means to have a private moment to themselves, an unrecorded, unanalysed thought. "The conversation occurring today will determine the amount of trust we can place both in the technology that surrounds us and the government that regulates it. "Together we can find a better balance, end mass surveillance and remind the government that if it really wants to know how we feel, asking is always cheaper than spying." Channel 4's alternative Christmas message has in the past featured Iran's then-President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad and fictional characters Ali G and Marge Simpson. Earlier this week, Mr Snowden told the Washington Post: "In terms of personal satisfaction, the mission's already accomplished. I already won." Mr Snowden was granted temporary asylum in Russia on 1 August. He fled the US in late May, taking a huge cache of secret documents with him. He faces espionage charges in the US. "I didn't want to change society. I wanted to give society a chance to determine if it should change itself," he told the Post. "All I wanted was for the public to be able to have a say in how they are governed." Last week, a federal judge declared the mass collection of telephone data unconstitutional and a presidential advisory panel suggested reforms. Both the judge and the panel said there was little evidence that any terrorist plot had been thwarted by the programme. A few days later, in his end-of-year news conference, US President Barack Obama suggested there might be a review of surveillance by the NSA. In light of "disclosures that have taken place" and public concerns about the programmes, there might be "another way of skinning the cat", he said. However, he accused Mr Snowden of causing "unnecessary damage" by leaking documents. President Obama said he would make a "definitive statement" in January about recommendations by the White House panel.
