Brighton-based electronic artist Gazelle Twin makes music that tries to both get under your skin and get you out of it. Around the recent ANTI BODY EP and her upcoming album UNFLESH, there’s been faceless press shots, an exploration of decay and hygiene in the ‘Anti Body’ video, and the bleeping anxiety of her surveillance culture-focused single ‘Belly of the Beast’. Her visceral, immediate dance music is paired with all the creeping tension that comes with heightened awareness of the body, and of the boundaries that separate the body from the world. Nowhere has she hit the point harder, though, than in her new tune ‘GUTS’, premiering exclusively here on Abeano. Reversed vocal snippets scatter around a mean kickdrum and a sneering low voice that orders you to “dance.” We’re hooked – if a little terrified. UNFLESH is slated for release via Gazelle Twin’s own Anti-Ghost Moon Ray imprint in the UK and Last Gang Records elsewhere on the 22nd September.
