Royal Navy deals with 500 incursions in 2013
The Royal Navy's Gibraltar Squadron has revealed they would be ready to enter armed combat in a matter of seconds should a situation develop in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters. 2013 was a testing year for the Royal Navy on the Rock, who had to deal with 500 incursions. In late October, following dangerous manouvers by the Guardia Civil, the Royal Navy was involved in an armed stand-off in the waters around the Rock. Now, Captain Rob Garner and XO Danny Toms speak to our reporter Jonathan Scott about the Navy's armed deterrent, on board HMS Scimitar.- published: 03 Jan 2014

Once upon a Ship - The Royal Navy - UK
Once upon a Ship - The Royal Navy - UK
Here is my tribute video to The Royal Navy UK England aka Great Britain. Military Naval history has been a part of my family throughout the generations on my Mother's side, with my Father serving in the RAF. When I was 16 I left home to join the Royal Navy not only to escape a dysfunctional home life but to also mutiny from Mum's dreaded Beatles collection in all it's entirety. I spent 5 years in the RN from 70 to 75 & was in the Electronics maintenance branch although if truth be known I totally sukked at Electronics but it was Plan B after mixing up green & white on the mandatory colour test at British HQ & was told I was unfit to steer a ship past an iceberg. The fabulous ship above is HMS Tiger C20 a 12, 000 tonne Helicopter Cruiser with 4 Sea King Helicopters onboard from 826 squadron at Culdrose Seacat ship to air missiles plus 3 and 6 inch guns in conjunction with about 925 ratings. I joined Her in 1972 & was on Her until 1974 & did the 18 month Far East tour & travelled to quite a few places around the globe & had a blast at a very young age. I don't EVER regret joining the RN but with serious hindsight feel that I was far too young to put dedication into a complex job & if I had have been older I may well have chosen a more suitable branch & would have maybe done alot better. By nature I excel in music & creativity but it has taken many decades of a much varied life to finally achieve in what I love best. To me ( & many others of the time) it was just a 5 year party of which could NEVER, EVER be emulated but to the older ratings then it was a serious lifelong career & I very much respect that fact & also the loyalty & dedication these fine people have to the RN & the UK. I also served on the shore base HMS Rooke in Gibraltar & HMS St Angelo in Malta & when I left Tiger I finished my time by serving on a shore base at New Waltham in Grimsby in the North of England. I created this video a couple of years ago & uploaded it to an old channel of mine but having turned 59 in recent weeks & suffering ill health then I felt it essential to tidy it up, produce it to a better quality & upload it here to give it immortality so that when I'm gone it will remain as a part of History for not only me, but for the rest of the crew too. I have changed the montage to black & white & de-noised & softened the old photos & have also added sound effects such as the Helicopter taking off from the flight deck & the guns blazing at the end. I know that this production is a much more slick affair than my first attempt and I've also added some racy lead guitar music for that certain nostalgia that I truly feel for this era of my life. Many thanks to ALL the contributors of these fantastic photos & this video will remain on my channel here & this playlist for as long as the web remains & most certainly longer than the time I have left on this fine earth. If this video brings joy to anyone then it will all have been so worth it but even if it doesn't then at least it will immortalize the memories for a most wonderful Ship. I have ALWAYS missed the Comradeship. Be Fabulous in All you do, peace, Steph. Royal Navy Fleet Protection Team in Action
The skill of the Royal Navy's Fleet Protection Team has been demonstrated in a short video produced by HMS Kent's boarding team. The video of the men from 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines was compiled while the Portsmouth based frigate carried out maritime patrols in the Gulf. The Fleet Protection Group, based at HM Naval Base Clyde, is made up of three rifle squadrons and an HQ squadron. It is their role to provide military support to convoys as well as conducting boarding operations on non compliant ships in line with UN resolutions in the Gulf. Royal Navy 'Get The Message'
Interactive personalized video messaging application
This campaign for the Royal Navy showcases the breadth of careers available in a fun and exciting way.
We created an interactive viral that enables users to create a personalized video message to send to their friends. The resulting films feature real Royal Navy personnel delivering the message by land, sea and air. Users can also choose whether to deliver their messages via the web or via mobile - an important addition given the target market's communication habits.
This project featured plenty of compositing work; apart from painting out the tracking markers used to generate the messaging areas, we also added in extra choppers, planes and even a whole jungle riverbank. This was particularly challenging as all of the shots were continuous POV sequences, and all featured fairly lively hand-held camera movement. For the diver scene, we even had to amalgamate separate takes to create the perfect sequence, using whip pans to hide the joins. We also created several "living loops" for the interactive sections of the site where the film idles while the user makes a decision.
