A newly released timeline of the hours leading up to the execution of Clayton Lockett in Oklahoma on Tuesday revealed that the 38-year-old convicted murderer was tasered kept under watch after guards discovered a self-inflicted wound to his arm.

On May 1, the day of the botched lethal injection, Oklahoma prison guards arrived at Lockett\'s cell at 5:06 a.m. to escort him for X-rays in preparation for his execution. The inmate, refusing orders to be restrained, was ordered to be tasered at 5:50 a.m.

The guards quickly discovered a self-inflicted cut on his right arm and transported him to the medical facility at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary, where Lockett was kept in a cell and watched by three guards until about 5:20 p.m. During that period, he refused food and final visits from his attorneys.

By 5:22 p.m. Lockett was placed and restrained on the execution table, where a phlebotomist spent nearly 50 minutes trying to locate an injectable vein in his arms, legs, feet and neck.

The IV was finally inserted in the groin at 6:18 p.m., and the sedative Midazolam was administered five minutes later. After the doctor declared Lockett unconscious at 6:33 p.m., the viewing room\'s curtains were lowered while the second and third drugs in the cocktail were administered.

At 6:44 p.m. the doctor found that Lockett\'s injected vein had collapsed, causing the drugs to have either leaked or become absorbed into tissue. The corrections department director called off the execution at 6:56 p.m. after finding out that not enough drugs remained to kill Lockett, who still retained a weak heartbeat.

Lockett\'s attorney Dean Sanderford witnessed the execution, saying that Lockett became visibly drowsy after midazolam had been administered but started convulsing soon after.

During a live service at The SCOAN, Prophet T.B. Joshua gave a prophecy concerning Abuja - the capital city of Nigeria. These were his words:

Listen to me, my people in Nigeria. Once again, take note of this: Our security should be vigilant. I am seeing a very big strike -- explosion. They should take care of Abuja -- capital. When I talk, you see me in a bad light. But I will keep talking. I don\'t need to say the state but I am saying it. This is what I am seeing happen in Abuja. They should pray. What can they do to capture this?

Botched Oklahoma execution: Clayton Lockett tasered before bungled lethal injection

  • Duration: 2:07
  • Updated: 02 May 2014
A newly released timeline of the hours leading up to the execution of Clayton Lockett in Oklahoma on Tuesday revealed that the 38-year-old convicted murderer was tasered kept under watch after guards discovered a self-inflicted wound to his arm. On May 1, the day of the botched lethal injection, Oklahoma prison guards arrived at Lockett's cell at 5:06 a.m. to escort him for X-rays in preparation for his execution. After the doctor declared Lockett unconscious at 6:33 p.m., the viewing room's curtains were lowered while the second and third drugs in the cocktail were administered. At 6:44 p.m. the doctor found that Lockett's injected vein had collapsed, causing the drugs to have either leaked or become absorbed into tissue. The corrections department director called off the execution at 6:56 p.m. after finding out that not enough drugs remained to kill Lockett, who still retained a weak heartbeat. Lockett's attorney Dean Sanderford witnessed the execution, saying that Lockett became visibly drowsy after midazolam had been administered but started convulsing soon after. "It was almost subtle at first," Sanderford was quoted as saying in a Time report. "He started writhing and twitching, and then the writhing and twitching just got stronger and more violent. It looked like he was trying to lift his whole upper body off the table, as if he was trying to sit up. He was mumbling things that were clearly words but I couldn't understand. His eyes opened at one point. It was the most gruesome spectacle I've ever seen in my life." Lockett was was pronounced dead at 7:06 p.m. after suffering a heart attack. His body has been sent to Austin for an independent autopsy, while Oklahoma's governor has ordered a full investigation into the inmate's death.

European and Russian officials will meet this week and next for emergency talks to try to prevent Moscow cutting off gas supply to Ukraine. EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger will also meet Ukrainian and Slovakian ministers in Bratislava on Thursday to seek a deal on shipping gas to Ukraine via Slovakia in the event of a reduction of supplies. But Russia has already warned that reversing the flow of gas through Slovakia is not legal. "The Commission is confident that the Memorandum of Understanding on reverse flows can be signed as soon as possible between the two pipeline operators in Slovakia (Eustream) and in the Ukraine (Uktransgas)," the spokeswoman said. Since a new pro-Western government took over in Kiev in February, Moscow has nearly doubled the price it charges Ukraine for gas and it has also threatened to cut supplies. Russia provides Europe with roughly one third of its gas imports, over half of which flowed via Ukraine last year. Russia also delivers around half of Ukraine's domestic gas needs.
