Pazhou

Pazhou Island (Chinese: 琶洲岛) is an island in the southeast of the central district of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China with a total area of 15 square kilometres (5.8 sq mi). The island falls under the administrative jurisdiction of Pazhou Sub-district (Chinese: 琶洲街道) in the Haizhu District.

Located in downtown Guangzhou in the hinterland of the Pearl River Delta, Panzhou is the future central district of Guangzhou with many commercial and recreational facilities including the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center (Chinese: 广州国际会展中心), where the Canton Fair is held every year.

There is one metro station in Pazhou, Pazhou Station.

The Westin Washington, D.C. City Center

The Westin Washington, D.C. City Center is a high-rise hotel in the United States capital of Washington, D.C. It rises to 153 feet (47 m), featuring 14 floors.

The building was completed in 1982 as the Vista International Hotel Washington. At the time, Hilton International was a separate company from Hilton and was forbidden from operating hotels in the United States under the Hilton name. Vista International was their domestic line of hotels. The architect of the building was Holle & Lin Architects PC and Smith-Williams Group.

The Vista became infamous in 1990 when then-Mayor Marion Barry was arrested on drug charges in a government sting in a room at the hotel.

In 1996, the Vista was converted to The Westin Washington, D.C. City Center. In 1998, it was renamed The Wyndham Washington D.C., then in 2005, it returned to its previous Westin name.

Guangzhou ( listen; Chinese: 广州, also known as Canton, and less commonly as Kwangchow), nicknamed the City of Flowers, is the capital and largest city of Guangdong province in South China. Guangzhou is one of the birthplaces of China's ancient "maritime Silk Road". Located on the Pearl River, about 120 km (75 mi) north-northwest of Hong Kong and 145 km (90 mi) north of Macau, Guangzhou serves as an important national transportation hub and trading port. One of the five National Central Cities, it holds sub-provincial administrative status.

Guangzhou is the third largest Chinese city and the largest city in South Central China. In 2014 the city's administrative area was estimated to have a population of 13,080,500. Some estimates place the population of the entire Pearl River Delta Mega City built-up area as high as 44 million including Guangzhou's nine urban districts, and Shenzhen (10.36 million), Dongguan (8.22 million), Zhongshan (3.12 million), most parts of Foshan (7.20 million), Jiangmen (1.82 million), Zhuhai (0.89 million) and Huyang County of Huizhou (0.76 million) adjoining Dongguan and Shenzhen, with an area of about 17,573 square kilometres (6,785 sq mi). Guangzhou is part of one of the most populous metropolitan agglomerations on Earth. The total population of this agglomeration is over 54 million, including the population of adjacent city Hong Kong. Guangzhou is identified as a Beta+ Global city. Due to rapidly increasing amount of foreigners and illegal immigrants from Middle East and Africa and Southeast Asia, it is called Capital of the Third World.

Canton Fair

The Canton Fair is a trade fair held in the spring and autumn seasons each year since the spring of 1957 in Guangzhou, China.

Its full name since 2007 has been China Import and Export Fair (中国进出口商品交易会), renamed from Chinese Export Commodities Fair (中国出口商品交易会), also known as The Canton Fair (广州交易会).

The Canton Fair is co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and People's Government of the Guangdong Province, and organized by China Foreign Trade Centre.

The Canton Fair is the largest trade fair in China. Among China's largest trade fairs, it has the largest assortment of products, the largest attendance, and the largest number of business deals made at the fair. Like many trade fairs it has several traditions and functions as a comprehensive event of international importance.

Contents

Fifty product trading categories, being composed of thousands of China's best foreign trade corporations (enterprises), take part in the fair. These include private enterprises, factories, scientific research institutions, wholly foreign-owned enterprises, and foreign trade companies.

British Airways

British Airways, often shortened to BA, is the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom and the largest airline in the United Kingdom based on fleet size. When measured by passengers carried, it is second-largest in United Kingdom (behind easyJet). The airline is based in Waterside near its main hub at London Heathrow Airport.

A British Airways Board was established by the United Kingdom government in 1972 to manage the two nationalized airline corporations, British Overseas Airways Corporation and British European Airways, and two smaller, regional airlines, Cambrian Airways, from Cardiff, and Northeast Airlines, from Newcastle upon Tyne. On 31 March 1974, all four companies were merged to form British Airways. After almost 13 years as a state company, British Airways was privatised in February 1987 as part of a wider privatisation plan by the Conservative government. The carrier soon expanded with the acquisition of British Caledonian in 1987, followed by Dan-Air in 1992 and British Midland International in 2012.
