Kokomo may refer to:
The Beach Boys are an American rock band, formed in 1961 in Hawthorne, California. The group was initially composed of brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. They were managed early on by the Wilsons' father, Murry. The band's leader, composer, arranger and producer Brian Wilson was responsible for writing most of the band's early singles and albums. After signing with Capitol Records in mid-1962, Wilson wrote or co-wrote more than two dozen Top 40 hits including "Surfin' Safari", "Surfin' USA", "Surfer Girl", "Little Deuce Coupe", "Be True to Your School", "In My Room", "Fun, Fun, Fun", "I Get Around", "Dance Dance Dance", "Help Me Rhonda" and "California Girls". These songs and their accompanying albums were internationally popular, making The Beach Boys one of the biggest acts of their time. The band's early music gained popularity across the United States for its close vocal harmonies and lyrics reflecting a Southern California youth culture of surfing, cars, and romance. By the mid-1960s, Brian's growing creative ambition and songwriting ability would dominate the group's musical direction. The primarily Brian-composed Pet Sounds album and "Good Vibrations" single (both released in 1966) featured a complex, intricate and multi-layered sound.
Tony O'Malley (September 25, 1913 – January 20, 2003) was a self-taught Irish painter. He was born in Callan, County Kilkenny, Ireland and, while he drew and painted for private pleasure from childhood, he worked as a bank officìal until a long battle with tuberculosis in the 1940s knocked him off the normal course of his life. He began painting in earnest while convalescing and, though he did at first return to bank work, he continued to paint and in 1951 he began exhibiting his work.
In 1955 he holidayed in St. Ives in Cornwall, then an important center of abstract art and home to Peter Lanyon, Patrick Heron, and Bryan Wynter, who Tony O'Malley met and worked with on his trip. He returned again in 1957 and in 1958 retired from the bank to paint full time. Prompted by a mixture of frustration at the indifference shown in Ireland to his work, an attraction to the sense of freedom he felt among the artists in Cornwall, and an engagement with the attempt to represent natural forms current in their abstraction, he settled in St Ives in 1960. While he was strongly influenced by the St Ives artistic community, his relationship was one of engagement rather than direct participation. His painting never completely assimilated the rigour and formality of the British abstract painters; it retained a muscular extravagance which is central to his artistic identity. Speaking to John O'Regan in an interview reproduced in Works 14: Tony O'Malley he explained:
Ann Beach (b. 7 June 1938, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England) is a British actress.
She is the mother of Charlotte Coleman and Lisa Coleman. She is perhaps best remembered for her supporting role as Sonia Barrett, the quirky next-door neighbour on the British comedy Fresh Fields, starring Julia McKenzie and Anton Rodgers. She was married to Francis Coleman. She won a scholarship to RADA at the age of 16. After leaving, she went on tour with Frankie Howerd in Hotel Paradiso., and then came to London in the title role of Emlyn Williams's "Beth". Unfortunately, this was not a success, but she was soon busily engaged in television work, until she went back to the stage in the Theatre Workshop company at the Theatre Royal Stratford East. Among the parts she created there were Rosie in Fings Ain't Wot They Used T'Be, and Miss Gilchrist in The Hostage. She then created the role of Barbara in Billy Liar at the Cambridge Theatre in September 1960.
John Phillip Stamos ( /ˈsteɪmoʊs/ STAY-mohs; born August 19, 1963) is an American actor, singer and musician best known for his work in television, especially in his starring role as Jesse Katsopolis on the ABC sitcom Full House. Since the cancellation of that show in 1995, Stamos has appeared in numerous television films and series. From 2006 to 2009, Stamos had a starring role on the NBC medical drama ER as Dr. Tony Gates. In September 2009, he began playing the role of Albert in the Broadway revival of Bye Bye Birdie. In September 2010 Stamos began a multi-episode arc as Dr. Carl Howell on the second season of the Fox series Glee.
Stamos was born in Cypress, California. He attended John F. Kennedy High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology. He is the oldest child and only son of Loretta (née Phillips), a former swimsuit model who was raised in England, and Bill Stamos, a Greek immigrant and restaurateur from Paraguay. Stamos has two younger sisters, Jannen and Alaina, who are both teachers. His family's last name was originally Stamatopoulos (Greek: Σταματόπουλος) but his paternal grandparents shortened the name to Stamos after they moved to the United States from Greece. ('-poulos' is a common Greek suffix in surnames, meaning "son of"; 'Stamato-' is the root.) His maternal grandparents were originally from Ireland.[citation needed]
Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego,
baby why don't we go,
Jamaica
Off the Florida Keys
there's a place called Kokomo
That's where you wanna go
to get away from it all
Bodies in the sand,
tropical drink melting in your hand
We'll be falling in love
to the rhythm of a steel drum band
Down in Kokomo
[Chorus:]
Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take you to
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo Montego,
baby why don't we go
Ooh I wanna take you down to Kokomo,
we'll get there fast
and then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go,
way down in Kokomo.
Martinique, that Monserrat mystique...
We'll put out to sea
and we'll perfect our chemistry
By and by we'll defy
a little bit of gravity
Afternoon delight,
cocktails and moonlit nights
That dreamy look in your eye,
give me a tropical contact high
Way down in Kokomo
[Chorus]
Port au Prince, I wanna catch a glimpse...
Everybody knows a little place like Kokomo
Now if you wanna go to get away from it all
Go down to Kokomo
[Chorus]
There's a tenderloin special at the Sak 'N' Save, the
sky is a dirty sock.
I left my hat at the laundromat, met an old guy walking
round the block.
I asked him how to get out of town, he said "how far
you wanna go?"
I said "I was thinking of Arkansas," he said "you'd be
better off in Kokomo"
With a payday loan and a migraine I crossed Contrary
Creek,
Looking for a gal that I knew as Sal, we were married
once for a week.
I found her way back in the woods, all her secrets
hidden under the snow.
She pointed my way with a 28 gauge on the road to
Kokomo.
Amelia Earhart lived here, but she didn't stick around
too long.
She crossed that bridge on just two wheels and, by God,
she was gone.
I stayed too long in Kansas trying to tell a "yes" from
a "no" -
But she wouldn't say and I am on my way on the road to
Kokomo.
Come all you brave young cowboys and get into software.
Why be a roustabout now when you could be a
millionaire?
The grain elevator is leaning, the trucks are rolling
slow.
Get out of hock, so long Red Rock, hello Kokomo.
You know she was just my type: deranged, middle-aged,
and crude,
Nipples the size of jack balls, and a real bad
attitude.
She wore my ass out so damn fast, left me nowhere to
With a sticky wicket and a greyhound ticket, one-way to
Kokomo.
Oh, these Michigan women, they know me much too well,
They take me high and they leave me low, they can find
me by my smell.
And I would still be up in the U P, sitting by the
fire's glow
If she hadn't whipped off her tubetop and run me down
to Kokomo.
Dig my grave with a Bobcat, and throw in a couple of
spuds.
Asses to asses, butts to butts, red blood to red mud.
Pass around a bottle of Jim Beam, play something on the
banjo.
If anybody asks you where I've gone, just tell 'em "to

Now, anybody ever seen her, they call her
Miss Demeanor
Watch the way she slides from side to side
Move so loose, look so good
Plays in every game she could
Now, she smell so sweet, like apple pie
Oh so good 'bout to make me die
For a slice or two I'd be a fool
'Round the neighborhood they say
She don't give no slice away
You can Kokomo in a china cup
Kind of love I need come from deep inside
Feel so good, oh so right
Oh so good and tight
Kokomo with me, Kokomo with me tonight
Now, if you ever, ever see her just call her
Miss Demeanor
Plays in every game, game around
Always keeps her aces down
Broken hearts all over town
You can Kokomo in a china cup
Kind of love I need come from deep inside
Feel so good, oh so right
Oh so good and tight

(Eric Bibb)
I told some friends you came from Gary.
Though your home was "Nap Town".
Last time I saw you was in New York City.
Leaving on a Greyhound, home abound.
I gave you what I had in my pocket. Enough for candybars and a beer.
Then I waved goodbye with a low-down feeling.
Still I held back the tears.
I started thinking about you up in Milwaukee.
It was raining when we reached Chicago.
But the tears didn't start rolling down my cheeks, until we rolled into Kokomo.
Noone I know who ever met you, could resist the way you sang and played.
None of us will ever forget you.
We all wished you to stay, to play the music you made.
You told me you was gonna stop smoking cigarettes, and buy a good looking car.
You used to sing about your dreams coming true.
We thought you'd go so far.
I started thinking about you up in Milwaukee.
It was raining when we reached Chicago.
But the tears didn't start rolling down my cheeks, until we rolled into Kokomo.
First time you came overseas, you were only seventeen.
Playing the Blues, in Yan Rachel's Band, you were happy to be heard and seen.
Hungry and lean.
Next time around, you were on your own, making a name for yourself.
Now all tthat's left is the love in our hearts, and some real to real tapes on my shelf.
I started thinking about you up in Milwaukee.
It was raining when we reached Chicago.
