Iraqi Militants In Heavy Clashes With The Iraqi Army In Anbar Province
The Iraq government has lost control of the strategic city of Falluja, west of Baghdad, say officials and witnesses. Al-Qaeda-linked militants now control the south of the city. An Iraqi reporter there says tribesmen allied with al-Qaeda hold the rest of Falluja. The United States said it would speed up its deliveries of missiles and surveillance drones to Iraq as the Baghdad government battles a resurgence of Al-Qaeda linked militants. The White House, meanwhile, dismissed claims that the fighting, which has seen militants retake the city of Fallujah, was a result of President Barack Obama's decision to withdraw US troops. Two Iraqi Army soldiers were wounded when an Improvised Explosive Device exploded to the north of Babel province showing that the fighting is spreading over Iraq. "Unidentified gunmen emplaced a bomb nearby a security checkpoint, that belongs to the Iraqi Army/ 31st Brigade/ exploded at the entrance of Mussayib district of northern Hilla," noting that "The explosion of the IED resulted in wounding two soldiers of the security checkpoint.""The security forces blocked off the explosion area and transported the wounded soldiers to the hospital for treatment," The house of Fallujah Police Commander was detonated by gunmen on Monday. "The house of the Colonel Mohamed Allawi, the police commander of Fallujah Police Forces, was detonated by gunmen," noting that "The explosion resulted in huge material damages to the house.""The explosion did not cause any human causalities since the house was empty at the explosion time," Map of Falluja: http://adf.ly/bsdWJ Map of Ramadi: http://adf.ly/bsdcQ Like Our Facebook Page: http://on.fb.me/1h2gWju Subscribe To WarClashes: http://bit.ly/1jNCmDm- published: 13 Jan 2014

Iraqi Security Forces Fighting Militants In Falluja And Ramadi, Anbar Province
Fighting is raging between al Qaeda-backed militants and Iraq's security forces for control of two key cities in the embattled Anbar province, even as a deal was in place with Sunni tribesmen to fight alongside Iraqi police against the militant group. The renewed violence in the Sunni province has raised concern about the stability of the government amid dueling claims by the terror group and security forces over who was in control of Falluja and Ramadi. The Iraqi civil war never really ended it just went off the boil for a while. Last year, the heat was turned back to high, with the number of civilian deaths from political violence doubling to roughly 8,000 people over the previous year, the highest civilian death toll since at least 2008. Security forces backed by tanks on battled militants in Iraq's Anbar province, where fighting has displaced thousands and sparked warnings of rights abuses and a worsening humanitarian crisis. Some of the most significant fighting appeared to be in Falluja, where the U.S. military fought one of the bloodiest battles of the Iraq war, with militants planting al Qaeda flags on buildings. Gunmen calling themselves the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, formerly known as al Qaeda in Iraq, took to a stage before thousands of Sunnis following Friday prayers in Falluja. "We call you to join us in our fight against the government of Nuri al-Maliki," one of the gunman said through a bullhorn. Authorities say gunmen have attacked an Iraqi army barracks north of Baghdad, killing 12 soldiers meaning that the militant attacks are spreading beyond Anbar. Human rights activists have condemned abuses by both government troops and insurgents in Iraq's Anbar province. "Apparently unlawful methods of fighting by all sides have caused civilian casualties," Human Rights Watch said in a report. The rights group criticised Iraqi forces and militants for carrying out attacks in residential areas. It comes as troops prepare to launch a major assault against al-Qaeda-linked militants in the city of Falluja. Battlefield Iraq: Heavy Clashes And Fighting Between Insurgents And Iraqi Army In The Anbar Province
Battlefield Iraq Heavy Clashes And Fighting Between Insurgents And Iraqi Army In The Anbar Province. Heavy Fighting Firefights And Clashes In Iraqs Anbar Province. Since 2014 the Anbar Province is place of fierce fighting between Sunni Iraqi Militias and the Iraqi Army. The main area of the clashes are the citys Ramadi and Falluja where a strong sunni population is located. According to Officials and witnesses, the Iraq government mainly has lost control over the strategic citys, west of Baghdad. The renewed violence in the Sunni province has raised concern about the stability of the government amid dueling claims by the terror group and security forces over who was in control of Falluja and Ramadi. Al-Qaeda black flags have been seen on government and police vehicles captured by the fighters. The army has besieged Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, and has launched air strikes on the city. The takeover of Fallujah and parts of Ramadi is the first time that tribal fighters have exercised such open control in major Iraqi cities since the height of the bloody insurgency that followed the US-led invasion of 2003. The fighting has left more than a hundred people dead and forced thousands of Falluja's residents to flee the city, to Baghdad, northern Iraq and the southern city of Karbala, where Shiite leaders are hosting the displaced families in housing built for religious pilgrims. The United States said it would speed up its deliveries of missiles and surveillance drones to Iraq as the Baghdad government battles a resurgence of Al-Qaeda linked militants. Iraq's prime minister has urged residents and tribes in Anbar province to "expel" al-Qaeda-linked fighters to avoid an all-out battle - remarks that may signal an imminent military move to retake the former insurgent stronghold. The Insurgents mainly ambushing Iraqi Army convoys in urban areas and attacking small check points and police stations with small arms, rpgs and ieds. The Iraqi Army repels with Air Strikes and armored infantry units. The ISIL rebels were trying to bring the battle to the cities of Anbar and Fallujah because there's no security there and they know they will be thoroughly defeated in the desert. The Iraqi civil war never really ended it just went off the boil for a while. Last year, the heat was turned back to high, with the number of civilian deaths from political violence doubling to roughly 8,000 people over the previous year, the highest civilian death toll since at least 2008. Officials have blamed the upsurge in violence to a resurgent Al-Qaeda emboldened by the civil war in neighbouring Syria, but the government has itself faced criticism for not doing enough to address the concerns of Iraq's disaffected Sunni Arab minority ahead of April elections. Iraqi troops fight to regain control of key Anbar cities
Clashes have erupted between Iraqi special forces and an Al-Qaeda-linked group as government troops continue their siege of two cities in Anbar province overrun by members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. On Sunday, at least 20 people died in bombings as ISIS gained control of Ramadi and Fallujah in the Sunni-dominated province. Violence has also erupted in the northern city of Kirkuk, where a suicide bomber drove a truck into a police station, killing two and wounding 55. RT's Ameera David talks to Austin Petersen, editor at theLibertarianRepublic.com, about the heightened violence in Iraq. Iraqi security forces and local tribesmen begin major operation in Anbar prov.
Iraqi security forces and local tribesmen have started a sweeping operation against al-Qaeda-linked militants in the volatile province of Anbar. Gunmen from the Bu-Assaf and Bu-Ali tribes have entered the city of Ramadi to help government forces to clear the city of militants. Reports coming out of the restive province suggest that al-Qaed-linked militants are in control of parts of the city of Fallujah. Witnesses say heavily-armed militants are patrolling the streets of the flashpoint city's east-- chanting slogans in support of al-Qaeda and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. Some reports suggest that a major militant leader Hassan Abu Dagdash has been killed in clashes with Iraqi forces. The western province of Anbar has been gripped by deadly violence since Monday after Iraqi police and army forces dismantled an anti-government protest camp in Ramadi. The government says the site had become a breeding ground for al-Qaeda-linked terrorists.- published: 02 Jan 2014

Iraqi military destroy al-Qaeda-linked militant camps in Anbar
The Iraqi military has destroyed the camps of al-Qaeda-linked militants in Anbar province. The assault comes after several senior officers and soldiers were killed during an operation against militants in the western province. The Iraqi defense ministry says the reason behind the rise in violence in Iraq is the spillover of the war in neighboring Syria. Baghdad says it has information that shows the arrival of weapons and advanced equipment from Syria to Anbar and Nineveh provinces. The build-up is said to have encouraged al-Qaeda-linked militants to revive some of their camps that had been destroyed in 2008. Deadly violence in Iraq has surged to the highest levels since 2008, when the country was on the brink of an all-out civil war.- published: 24 Dec 2013

Iraq military strikes al-Qaeda camps in Anbar
Iraqi forces have destroyed two camps belonging to an al-Qaeda-linked militant group in the western province of Anbar, the Defence Ministry says. The army launched "successful strikes...resulting in the destruction of two camps in the desert of Anbar," Defence Ministry Spokesman Mohammed al-Askari said in an statement on Monday. The assaults came after 18 Iraqi military officers were killed in an ambush on Saturday in the Sunni Muslim-dominated province. The commander of the army's Seventh Division as well as the commander of its 28th Brigade and several other high-ranking officers were among those killed in the attack. On Sunday, Askari said photographs and other information pointed to "the arrival of weapons and advanced equipment from Syria to the desert of western Anbar and the border of Nineveh Province," encouraging al-Qaeda-linked militants to "revive some of their camps that were eliminated by security forces in 2008 and 2009." "Photographs and intelligence information indicate that whenever there is pressure on armed groups in Syria, they withdraw to Iraq...to regroup and then carry out terrorist operations in the two countries," Askari added. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has also warned that an anti-government sit-in site in a city in the Anbar Province has become a "headquarters" for al-Qaeda. "I say clearly and honestly that the sit-in site in Anbar has turned into a headquarters for the leadership of al-Qaeda," he said on Sunday. The Iraqi prime minister called on the Iraqi forces to take a "firm stance to end" the sit-in in Ramadi which is the largest city in the province.- published: 24 Dec 2013

Iraqi Security Forces Fight Militants in Anbar Province - 3 January 2014
Iraqi Security Forces Fight Militants in Anbar Province - 3 January 2014 Special forces have clashed with hundreds of Sunni militants in two Iraqi cities. The clashes with the fighters from the al-Qaeda linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) were in Fallujah and Ramadi, where some 250 fighters were equipped with armed vehicles. Both cities are in the province of Anbar, where Sunni militant activity has been on the rise. At least 23 people were killed in militant attacks elsewhere in Iraq. Sunni Arabs in Iraq claim they have been targeted and politically marginalised by the Shia-led government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, a charge the prime minister denies. The fighting in Ramadi was reported to have eased by Thursday evening, but it was not clear whether authorities had totally re-established control in either city. A senior police officer in Anbar province had earlier been quoted as saying ISIS fighters had seized at least 10 police stations and had freed a number of prisoners. ISIS fighters posted videos of themselves burning government vehicles, setting up checkpoints and issuing challenges to the authority of Mr Maliki. Sunni tribal fighters also took to the streets, with reports that some were fighting on the government side. Also on Thursday, authorities arrested a Shia militia leader in what may be seen as an attempt to appease Sunni sentiment. Wathiq al-Batat is the commander of the Mukhtar army, a recently formed Shia militia which was implicated in a rocket attack last week.
