Phil Nimmons - David Braid Improvisation
Phil Nimmons, clarinet (1923-2024)
David Braid, piano (1975-)
From the album, "Suite St. John's: Falling Through" (2012) originally recorded by Glen Tilley for broadcast on CBC's "The Signal". The album was later published in a limited edition booklet of photographs by Nathan Wirth.
This is the final improvisation of a concert at Petro Canada Hall, Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's, Canada.
Between 2004 and 2019, this duo only performed spontaneous music - improvisation without any previous discussion of structure.

"Generational is inspired by the interconnectedness of our collective human family tree. In music and life itself, we hear the echoing voices of those who have come before us. By contributing our own voices to this dialogue, we join in an ongoing conversation that is united through our shared humanity, and further enriched by the unique quality of each new voice that joins in.
