Animal Park was a television documentary about the life of keepers and animals at Longleat Safari Park, Wiltshire, England, aired over 9 series on the BBC from 2000 until 2009. It also covered the daily life of workers in Longleat House, the estate and the gardens.
Animal Park was broadcast by the BBC on BBC Two, with repeats appearing occasionally on BBC One. It was presented by Ben Fogle and Kate Humble. The show's first series was aired from 10 July 2000, and there have since been eight additional series of the show, with the last (205th) episode airing on 25 March 2009. It was also shown on Watch.
This programme replaced the previous BBC series called Lion Country, also filmed at Longleat Safari Park, which aired in 1998 and 1999 with a total of 55 episodes.
The show primarily focused on the animals, keepers, and day to day running of the safari park. Some of the animals have truly captured the heart of the public, including the late Kadu the tiger and the late Babs and Winston the rhinos, and the silverback gorilla, Nico. The show regularly featured Lord Bath, the owner of Longleat. From time to time, the programme also included segments on the running of Longleat House and the treasures contained therein.
John Damian Androcles Aspinall (born 24 May 1960), is an English casino owner, aspiring songwriter and conservationist, notable for his raising and release of Kwibi, a zoo-bred Lowland Gorilla in Gabon. He is the son of Jane Gordon Hastings and John Victor Aspinall, zoo owner, gambler and founder of Aspers, and conservationist. Aspinall was educated at Millfield School, Somerset.
Damian acquired his wealth independently in the real estate business - his father refusing to assist him financially. After his father's death in 2000, Damian bought back the family casino interests with the help of Australian associate James Packer, son of Kerry Packer. He runs the John Aspinall Foundation started by his father, and his stated goal is to breed gorillas and return them to the wild. He manages Howletts and nearby Port Lympne, where 120 gorillas have been born and 77 presently live. The foundation has released 51 gorillas to secure areas in Africa.
Kwibi, the celebrity gorilla released when 5 years old in 2005 in Gabon, had been born and raised at Howletts, a wild animal park in Kent. Aspinall tracked Kwibi in 2010 and the video of the reunion became widely viewed on YouTube.

Mike Park is a Korean American musician and progressive activist. His musical ventures include Skankin' Pickle for whom he both played the saxophone and sang, The Chinkees, The Bruce Lee Band, and most recently an acoustic solo project under his own name. After his time with Skankin' Pickle he went on to found Asian Man Records, a label which he has run out of his garage in California since 1996 with only help from his parents and friends. Asian Man Records supports mostly ska and punk bands. Park will support any band as long as it is "anti-racist, anti-sexist, and anti-prejudice".[citation needed] Park has used Asian Man Records to release his own music, in addition to providing a start for smaller bands to allow them to grow, including Less Than Jake, Alkaline Trio, and The Lawrence Arms. In 1999 he formed the Plea for Peace Foundation an organization whose aim is "to promote the ideas of peace through the power of music", something which Park has been trying to do with his own bands and with the help of other groups.[citation needed]
I wait all night for you
The priceless coat you wear
Fox or chinchilla, beaver, it doesn't matter
To me it's hair
I can't get anything done
With you walking around like that
I can't take a poke at fun
With that animal on your back
I wake up wanting you
But you are rarely there
I howl a song and I prowl and long
I growl but you don't care
I can't get anything done
With you shaking around like that
I can't take if off for fun
With that animal on your back
I can't get anything done
With you shaking around like that
I can't take if off for fun
With that animal on your back
Animal
Do you like that?
How 'bout this? You like this
Animal, a naked history
Shattered in a bad rap
But those days, decades
Dollars, and centuries
It's a tail in a trap
You really don't know, do you?
Consent is all I need
To bring out the savage in me
Your scent is all I need
To bring out the animal in me
I can't get anything done
With you shaking around like that
I can't take if off for fun
With that animal on your back
Animal, animal
Animal, animal
