G7 leaders have agreed to move swiftly to impose additional sanctions on Russia over the crisis in Ukraine.

In a joint statement, the group of seven major economic powers said that given the urgency of ensuring peaceful elections in Ukraine next month, they\'ve committed to intensify targeted sanctions on Russia to increase the costs of its actions. The group added that Russia has taken no concrete actions to comply with the Geneva accord and has continued to escalate tensions. It also stressed that the door remains open to the democratic resolution of the crisis. The United States is also planning to impose additional sanctions on Russia. A US official speaking on condition of anonymity said the new sanctions could come as early as Monday. Sources familiar with the matter have said that Washington\'s sanctions will target President Vladimir Putin\'s cronies.

A Grantham Special Lecture by Professor Martin Parry, Grantham Institute and Centre for Environmental Policy, Imperial College London

Climate change could lead to hundreds of millions of people being at risk of hunger by the middle of this century. This is in addition to the billion or so currently at risk.

Several new studies are just being completed of the potential effects of climate change on global food production potential, and there is a convergence of evidence about the scale and regional distribution of the challenge: Most of the additional climate-change driven hunger will be in the least developed parts of Africa, but significant numbers could also occur in south and south-east Asia. In all regions, the poor, young and elderly are likely to be most affected.

International negotiations as part of the UNFCCC have set a very ambitious spending target of about $50bn per annum to be available for adaptation for all sectors and, assuming that a significant part of this is spent on agriculture, the impacts of climate change can probably be substantially reduced. But it is unlikely that major effects can be avoided for current trends in economic development.

Only a major reduction in incidence of poverty would avoid significant damage. This requires a transformation in development effort.

Around 150 American troops have landed at the Siau-liai air base. The Lithuanian president says the arrival of American forces is a deterrence measure. Two groups of US soldiers have already arrived in Poland and Latvia. Another group made up of 150 troops is expected in Estonia early next week. documentation about the Armenian genocide in 1915 which Turkey denies down to the present day. The documentation is based on reports of, amongst others, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin, the American National Archives, the Library of Congress and archives in France, Denmark, Sweden, Armenia, Russia and Turkey. These documents, hidden for a long time in order not to harm Turkey, leave absolutely no room for doubt about the reality of the Armenian genocide.

In 2011 two friends decided they were going to cycle around the world in aid of War Child UK. Before leaving in, February 2012, they visited Bangui, Central African Republic to see firsthand how War Child UK are supporting a local charity there.

The charity, Fondation Voix du Coeur, provides help and support to the street children of Bangui.

Here is a short documentary telling the story of just a handful of street children in Bangui and how the Fondation Voix du Coeur, with the help of War Child UK, is providing essential support for them.

Please help us support War Child UK. They are a small international charity that protects children from the brutal effects of war and its consequences.

They currently work in Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Iraq, Uganda and now Syria.

They\'re on the ground -- supporting the most vulnerable children that are too often forgotten in the aftermath of conflict.

You can donate to them direct through our JustGiving page here: http://www.justgiving.com/DaringDynamos

G7 leaders have agreed to move swiftly to impose additional sanctions on Russia over the crisis in Ukraine. In a joint statement, the group of seven major economic powers said that given the urgency of ensuring peaceful elections in Ukraine next month, they've committed to intensify targeted sanctions on Russia to increase the costs of its actions. Sources familiar with the matter have said that Washington's sanctions will target President Vladimir Putin's cronies.

A Grantham Special Lecture by Professor Martin Parry, Grantham Institute and Centre for Environmental Policy, Imperial College London Climate change could lead to hundreds of millions of people being at risk of hunger by the middle of this century. For more information please visit http://www.imperial.ac.uk/climatechange
