Science Fiction Thriller Film
@Zicutake -- A Sound of Thunder is a 2005 science fiction thriller film directed by Peter Hyams, and starring Edward Burns, Catherine McCormack and Ben Kingsley. An international co-production between the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany and the Czech Republic, the film was planned originally for a 2003 release. However, flooding in Prague (where the production was filmed) and other financial difficulties—including the bankruptcy of the original production company during post-production[citation needed]—resulted in a delayed release. The film is based on the short story of the same name by Ray Bradbury. It is about "time tourists" who accidentally interfere too much with the past, completely altering the present. * Starring _ Edward Burns _Catherine McCormack _ Ben Kingsley The film opens in the Cretaceous, on a prehistoric hunting safari. The expedition includes Time Safari employees Travis Ryer (Edward Burns), Jenny Krase, Marcus Payne (David Oyelowo), Dr. Lucas, federal regulator Clay Derris and their wealthy guests Alicia and John Wallenbeck. The safari is set under very specific rules to avoid altering history: a volcano is observed to erupt five minutes after they arrive, their target is an Allosaurus (actually extinct in the Cretaceous) that would imminently get stuck in tar, frozen nitrogen bullets are used as ammunition to leave no trace, and the party wears self-contained suits and are told they must stay on a floating path and not touch anything. Furthermore, all the guns are tied to Travis's weapon, and will not fire until he does so. They successfully complete the expedition and return to 2055 Chicago, where Time Safari chairman Charles Hatton (Ben Kingsley) organizes a party to celebrate their success. The party is interrupted by the disgruntled Sonia Rand (Catherine McCormack), who sprays blood on Hatton and the Wallenbecks. Sonia is the inventor of the time machine software, TAMI, but received no credit due to loopholes in the contract she signed to license TAMI. She is later confronted by Travis and the two have a brief conversation in Sonia's lab, in which she explains to him the danger of altering the past using the time machine.- published: 12 Feb 2014

Science Fiction Theatre 41 The Long Sleep
Hosted by Truman Bradley, a 1940s film actor and former war correspondent, each episode introduced stories which had an extrapolated scientific, or pseudo-scientific emphasis based on actual scientific data available in the 1950s. Typically, the story lines related to the life or work of scientists, engineers, inventors and explorers. The program concentrated on such concepts as space flight, robots, telepathy, flying saucers, time travel, and the intervention of extraterrestrials in human affairs. Airing a total of 78 25--26 min. episodes, the series was also known as Beyond the Limits in second run syndication during the 1960s and alternatively as Science Fiction Theater. Opposite to what happened in the 1960s, the first season was filmed in color, but to cut costs the second season was in black & white. The producers had originally thought that color TV would progress faster than it did. Science Fiction Theatre was a forerunner of similar shows, such as The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. The show is probably best known to modern audiences, for having been prominently referenced in the movie Back to the Future (1985), as George McFly's favorite television program.- published: 16 Jan 2014

Yongara Monster from the Deep - Free Full Length Old Science Fiction Movie
In the Middle East, a bomb is set off that creates massive earthquakes. Meanwhile in South Korea, a young couple is about to get married and the tension builds when South Korea sends a space shuttle to investigate the bomb site. The earthquake makes its way to South Korea, caused by a giant monster named Yongary (inspired by a mythical creature in Korean lore). Yongary attacks Seoul and makes his way to the oil refineries where he consumes the oil. A child related to the aforementioned couple turns off the refineries' oil basins; Yonggary, enraged, starts attacking until an explosion at the refinery proves to have a chemical effect on it. The Korean Government then uses oil to draw Yonggary to a local river, and kills it with a refined version of the compound.- published: 17 Dec 2013

Noam Chomsky: The Singularity is Science Fiction!
http://www.singularityweblog.com/noam-chomsky-the-singularity-is-science-fiction/ Dr. Noam Chomsky is a famed linguist, political activist, prolific author and recognized public speaker, who has spent the last 60 years living a double life -- one as a political activist and another as a linguist. His activism allegedly made him the US government's public enemy number one. As a linguist he is often credited for dethroning behaviorism and becoming the "father of modern linguistics" (and/or cognitive science). Put together his accomplishments are the reasons why he is often listed as one of the most important intellectuals of the 20th century. And so I was very much looking forward to interviewing him on Singularity 1 on 1. Unfortunately our time together was delayed, then rushed and a bit shorter than anticipated. So I was pretty nervous throughout and messed up some of my questions and timing. Never-the-less, I believe that we still had a worthy conversation with Dr. Chomsky and I appreciate the generous though limited time that he was able to grant me. During our 28 minute conversation with Noam Chomsky we cover a variety of interesting topics such as: the balance between his academic and his political life; artificial intelligence and reverse engineering the human brain; why in his view both Deep Blue and Watson are little more than PR; the slow but substantial progress of our civilization; the technological singularity...- published: 05 Oct 2013
