Canoeing Through Flooded Forest in Southeast Suriname - CI Exploration - Conservation International
http://www.conservation.org/discoveries While exploring a remote area of southeastern Suriname, CI's Rapid Assessment Program (RAP) team got caught in a downpour that led to severe flooding of their campsite. They escaped the floods by boating along what were once forest trails. See the flooded camp: http://youtu.be/lGwOgjYCgcY Despite this hardship, the team discovered 60 species that are likely new to science on the expedition — and shed new light on the value that this region holds for people. Fresh Water: The Essence of Life
Fresh Water: The Essence of Life
It is within our grasp to adapt to the conditions we have created and to mitigate our impact on the future, but the window of opportunity is closing. Now is the time to reclaim our humility in relationship to the Earth's fresh water and to resurrect an understanding of how interdependent we are with these ecosystems.- published: 29 Aug 2013

Clever pangolin gets a snack! Pangolin Rehabilitation Center - Conservation International (CI)
http://www.conservation.org This hungry pangolin happily chowing down on ants was confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade. Caught in a snare trap, it lost one of its limbs, and as a result, it cannot be returned to the wild. It now lives at Cambodia's Pangolin Rehabilitation Center at Phnom Tamao Zoological Park and Wildlife Rescue Centre. Conservation International helps to fund the enclosures at the center to rehabilitate the pangolins.
