Below is the transcript for the recording: Altaic is a proposed language family that includes the Turkic, Mongolic, Tungusic, Koreanic, and Japonic languages. These languages are spoken in a wide arc stretching from northeast Asia through Central Asia to Anatolia and eastern Europe . The group is named after the Altai Mountains, a mountain range in Central Asia. These language families share numerous characteristics. The debate is over the origin of their similarities. One camp, often called the "Altaicists", views these similarities as arising from common descent from a proto-Altaic language spoken several thousand years ago. The other camp, often called the "anti-Altaicists", views these similarities as arising from areal interaction between the language groups concerned. Some linguists believe the case for either interpretation is about equally strong; they have been called the "skeptics". Another view accepts Altaic as a valid family but includes in it only Turkic, Mongolic, and Tungusic. This view was widespread prior to the 1960s, but has almost no supporters among specialists today. The expanded grouping, including Korean and Japanese, came to be known as "Macro-Altaic", leading to the designation of the smaller grouping as "Micro-Altaic" by retronymy. Most proponents of Altaic continue to support the inclusion of Korean and Japanese. Micro-Altaic includes about 66 living languages, to which Macro-Altaic would add Korean, Japanese, and the Ryukyuan languages for a total of about 74. Micro-Altaic has a total of about 348 million speakers today, Macro-Altaic about 558 million.

Each of the Altaic languages differs, some merely small amounts while others almost look like they have no relationship at all. Yet, all share one thing in common. If we go back far enough in history, we can trace all the Altaic languages, cultures, and blood lines back to one single place, moment and person. The birth of the Nations of the Altay Mountains, was the consciousness of the Ancient Ancestor of Altay. From his sons and daughters the Peoples and their cultural legacy and historical impact were put into this world. The Altay Mountains were the rocky, snowy, remote, mystical beginning of an epic journey of a race of people that would play a great part in shaping Eurasia. From Manchuria to Hungary, from the north of Siberia to the peaks of Kirgizstan, from the little numbers that make up small Altaic tribes, to the millions upon millions that make up the greater Altaic tribes. From the tongue of the Khalh Mongols to the spoken word of the Lipka Tatars. From Oghuz Han to Genghis Khan, from Timur to Atatürk. They all originate from the One who dwelled the slopes of the Altay Mountains. The ancient ancestor of the Altaic Peoples. His sons were Mongol, Turk and Tungus and they each set out into the steppes of Eurasia to create their own future, seperate but always bonded by blood and tongue. Tüngüs went north. Möngöl went east. Türk went west. All have gifted Eurasia with their own unique footprint. As we speak, today, in 2013, over 10,000 years after Altay Khan roamed the peaks and pines of his homeland, the languages of the three peoples are still connected albeit in their own unique way. The bond is there, clear for everyone, linguistic connections that are obvious for even a horse. NOW LET US NOT FORGET ALTAY KHAN. ÄLTÄYHAN!
