Collateral Murder - Wikileaks - Iraq
Wikileaks has obtained and decrypted this previously unreleased video footage from a US Apache helicopter in 2007. It shows Reuters journalist Namir Noor-Eldeen, driver Saeed Chmagh, and several others as the Apache shoots and kills them in a public square in Eastern Baghdad. They are apparently assumed to be insurgents. After the initial shooting, an unarmed group of adults and children in a minivan arrives on the scene and attempts to transport the wounded. They are fired upon as well. The official statement on this incident initially listed all adults as insurgents and claimed the US military did not know how the deaths ocurred. Wikileaks released this video with transcripts and a package of supporting documents on April 5th 2010 on http://collateralmurder.com- published: 03 Apr 2010

The tombstone of Kimberly Walker was made in the likeness of her favourite cartoon character and erected at Spring Grove Cemetery on 10 October, almost eight months after her body was found in a Colorado hotel room. But despite initially giving permission officials at the cemetery changed their minds and asked the family to remove it and a similar one erected for Kimberly's still-living twin sister- published: 22 Oct 2013

USA: Iraq buying Iranian weapons would be violation of embargo - State Department
M/S Reporters at the conference SOT, Jen Psaki, US State Department spokeswoman (in English): "Well, we've certainly seen those reports. If true, this would raise serious concerns. Any transfer of arms from Iran to a third country is in direct violation of UNSCR 1747. We're seeking clarification on his matter from the government of Iraq, and to ensure that Iraqi officials understand the limits that international law places on arms trade with Iran." M/S Reporter at the conference SOT, Jen Psaki, US State Department spokeswoman (in English): "We're still looking into those reports, but we certainly view the government of Iraq as a partner in the fight against terrorism and we're committed to supporting them in this fight. We have provided the Iraqi military and security forces with more than $15 billion in equipment, services, and training through the FMS programme in the past, and we are working to accelerate our FMS deliveries of critical CT equipment." M/S Reporter at the conference SCRIPT USA: Iraq buying Iranian weapons would be violation of embargo - State Department The United States government is looking into reports of Iran's alleged arms sale worth $195 million (€142 million) to Iraq, US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said at a press briefing in Washington, D.C. on Monday. Psaki said that, if the reports prove to be true, they will "raise serious concerns" and would be in violation of the UN embargo on Iran's arms sales. She said that the US is seeking clarification with the Iraqi government. She further said that the US views Iraq as a partner and that the US has provided the Iraqi military and security forces with more than $15 billion (€11 billion) in equipment, training and services.- published: 25 Feb 2014

Howard Zinn on the War in Iraq, Politics and News Events (2005)
Howard Zinn on the War in Iraq, Politics and News Events (2005)
Howard Zinn (August 24, 1922 -- January 27, 2010) was an American historian, author, playwright, and social activist. He was a political science professor at Boston University for 24 years and taught history at Spelman College for 7 years. Zinn wrote more than 20 books, including his best-selling and influential A People's History of the United States. He wrote extensively about the civil rights and anti-war movements, and labor history of the United States. His memoir, You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train, was also the title of a 2004 documentary about Zinn's life and work. Zinn opposed the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq and wrote several books about it. In an interview with The Brooklyn Rail he said, We certainly should not be initiating a war, as it's not a clear and present danger to the United States, or in fact, to anyone around it. If it were, then the states around Iraq would be calling for a war on it. The Arab states around Iraq are opposed to the war, and if anyone's in danger from Iraq, they are. At the same time, the U.S. is violating the U.N. charter by initiating a war on Iraq. Bush made a big deal about the number of resolutions Iraq has violated—and it's true, Iraq has not abided by the resolutions of the Security Council. But it's not the first nation to violate Security Council resolutions. Israel has violated Security Council resolutions every year since 1967. Now, however, the U.S. is violating a fundamental principle of the U.N. Charter, which is that nations can't initiate a war—they can only do so after being attacked. And Iraq has not attacked us.[57] He asserted that the U.S. would end Gulf War II when resistance within the military increased in the same way resistance within the military contributed to ending the U.S. war in Vietnam. The war eventually ended in December 2011, however, it was the dramatic decline in insurgent attacks and sectarian violence that led to the withdrawal of American forces. Zinn compared the demand by a growing number of contemporary U.S. military families to end the war in Iraq to parallel demands in the Confederacy in the Civil War, when the wives of soldiers rioted because their husbands were dying and the plantation owners were profiting from the sale of cotton, refusing to grow grains for civilians to eat.[58] Jean-Christophe Agnew, Professor of History and American Studies at Yale University, told the Yale Daily News in May 2007 that Zinn's historical work is highly influential and widely used.[59] He observed that it is not unusual for prominent professors such as Zinn to weigh in on current events, citing a resolution opposing the war in Iraq that was recently ratified by the American Historical Association. Agnew added: In these moments of crisis, when the country is split—so historians are split.- published: 31 Mar 2014

Moses pbuh Ordered thousands of Jews to be Killed 4 worshipping Golden Calf
Moses pbuh Ordered thousands of Jews to be Killed 4 worshipping Golden Calf
The incident of the worship of the Golden Calf is narrated in the Qur'an and other Islamic literature. The Qur'an narrates that after they refused to enter the promised land, God decreed that as punishment the Israelites would wander for forty years. Moses continued to lead the Israelites to Mount Sinai for Divine guidance. According to Islamic literature, God ordered Moses to fast for thirty days, and upon near completion of the thirty days, Moses ate a scented plant to improve the odour of his mouth. God commanded Moses to fast for ten more days, before receiving the guidance for the Israelites. When Moses completed the fasts, he approached God for guidance. During this time, Moses had instructed the Israelites that Aaron (Harun) was to lead them. The Israelites grew restless, since Moses had not returned to them, and after thirty days, a man the Qur'an names Samiri raised doubts among the Israelites. Samiri claimed that Moses had forsaken the Israelites and ordered his followers among the Israelites to light a fire and bring him all the jewelry and gold ornaments they had.[7] Samiri fashioned the gold into a golden calf along with the dust on which the angel Gabriel had treaded on, which he proclaimed to be the God of Moses and the God who had guided them out of Egypt.[8] There is a sharp contrast between the Qur'anic and the biblical accounts the prophet Aaron's actions. The Qur'an mentions that Aaron attempted to guide and warn the people from worshipping the Golden Calf. However, the Israelites refused to stop until Moses had returned.[9] The righteous separated themselves from the pagans. God informed Moses that He had tried the Israelites in his absence and that they had failed by worshipping the Golden Calf.- published: 18 Mar 2014

Iraq: West's "simplistic mantras" ignore reality of Ukraine - Lavrov
SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "The Western media have portrayed these events in a highly distorted way, trying to impose simplistic mantras like "the West is calling on the government to keep its hands off Maidan", though they prefer not to say what Maidan is all about. They make no mention of setting the cars on fire, hurling Molotov cocktails at the police, or killings inside the Party of Regions building held up by extremists. All they are doing is urge the government alone to stop violence against the protesters, who are implied to be absolutely peaceful. The Ukrainian government and the Ukrainian president have repeatedly offered gestures of goodwill by negotiating consensus solutions and things like releasing the detained protesters in exchange for vacating the public buildings. The government has followed through with its promises, but the opposition hasn't." *FLASH CUTS AT SOURCE* SCRIPT Iraq: West's "simplistic mantras" ignore reality of Ukraine - Lavrov Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Baghdad on Thursday where spoke about the ongoing Ukrainian crisis. He accused Western countries of having double standards and argued the violence rocking the country is the result of extremists. He also blamed anti-government protesters for escalating violence in the country, arguing the government has kept its promises while the opposition has failed to do so. Lavrov is in Baghdad for talks with senior Iraqi officials where they are expected to discuss a range of regional issues, including bilateral cooperation, the ongoing Syrian conflict, energy cooperation and trade and arms deals- published: 22 Feb 2014
