Las Vegas (/lɑːs ˈveɪɡəs/, also locally /lɑːs ˈvɛɡᵻs/; Spanish: [laz ˈβeɣas]) officially the City of Las Vegas and often known as simply Vegas, is a city in the United States, the most populous city in the state of Nevada, the county seat of Clark County, and the city proper of the Las Vegas Valley. Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city known primarily for gambling, shopping, fine dining and nightlife and is the leading financial and cultural center for Southern Nevada.
The city bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and is famous for its mega casino–hotels and associated entertainment. A growing retirement and family city, Las Vegas is the 29th-most populous city in the United States, with a population of 603,488 at the 2013 United States Census Estimates. The 2013 population of the Las Vegas metropolitan area was 2,027,828. The city is one of the top three leading destinations in the United States for conventions, business, and meetings. In addition, the city's metropolitan area has more AAA Five Diamond hotels than any other city in the world, and is a global leader in the hospitality industry. Today, Las Vegas is one of the top tourist destinations in the world.
Nevada (Spanish for "snow covered") is a state in the Western, Mountain West, and Southwestern regions of the United States of America. Nevada is the 7th most extensive, the 35th most populous, and the 9th least densely populated of the 50 United States. Nearly three-quarters of Nevada's people live in Clark County, which contains the Las Vegas–Paradise metropolitan area where three of the state's four largest incorporated cities are located. Nevada's capital is Carson City. Nevada is officially known as the "Silver State" due to the importance of silver to its history and economy. It is also known as the "Battle Born State", because it achieved statehood during the Civil War (the words "Battle Born" also appear on the state flag); as the "Sagebrush State", for the native plant of the same name; and as "Sage hen State". Nevada borders Oregon to the northwest, Idaho to the northeast, California to the west, Arizona to the southeast and Utah to the east.
Nevada is largely desert and semiarid, much of it located within the Great Basin. Areas south of the Great Basin are located within the Mojave Desert, while Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada lie on the western edge. About 86% of the state's land is managed by various jurisdictions of the U.S. federal government, both civilian and military.
The Nevada State has been the name of two schools in Nevada. First there was Nevada State University from 1881–1905, which is currently known as the University of Nevada. The other is Nevada State College, which has been known as such since its formation in 2002.

Clark County is the name of twelve counties in the United States. Most, though not all, are named after two brothers: military hero George Rogers Clark in the Midwest, and explorer William Clark in the West.

The fact that Nevada has no state income taxes was a major incentive for me, as a recent college graduate with student loan and living in the most expensive area of the country, to begin looking into possibly moving from the Golden State to the Silver State. Just before I left California, another state income tax increase had passed, officially making Calif...

The state led the country for several years in having the highest unemployment rate. Fortunately Nevada did add just over 20,000 jobs within the last few months. Even still, with unemployment sitting at 6.8%, which is higher than the national average, Las Vegas has some catching up to do. The good news is that c...

Something that completely took us by surprise while visiting Las Vegas is the plethora of opportunities to visit scenic areas just outside of the city. Nestled just a short drive away from Las Vegas strip is the imposing Red Rock Canyon. To visit we partnered with Pink Jeep Tours who whisked us to numerous different vantage points where we had the opportunity to hike, walk and climb certain parts of the National Park. It's definitely an experience I'd recommend to others and it left me feeling nostalgic because the scenery and imposing landscapes are similar to what I experienced backpacking in Northern Argentina five years ago. Otherwise, a manager couldn't fill a building. Nevada has a greater concentration of economic misery than any other state. The state's unemployment rate, which in June edged up to 14.2 percent, has risen faster during the past year than it has anywhere else, and nearly six percent of all homes across the state's desert landscape received a foreclosure filing in the first six months of the year. While the concentration of misery may be greater in Nevada, it was caused by the same unchecked housing bubble and un...

Things YOU need to know before you travel to Las Vegas Nevada. Las Vegas is Big, so is the Strip. Things are much further away than they seem from looking on a map. it will take you at least a 15-30 minute walk to get to a different hotel than your own. The Las Vegas strip is 4 miles. Find the shortcuts between hotels (Bally’s to Paris). Bring Comfortable Footwear. Leave the 4 inch heels at home, or have a second pair. Use the free trams (Luxor to Excalibur) (Monte Carlo to Bellagio). The monorail is pretty convenient too. Don’t try to hail Taxis on the strip, they won’t stop, it’s illegal. Go to a hotel taxi stand to get a taxi, be prepared to wait in line. And traffic at 6pm is awful 2. Downtown Las Vegas Is really far. $30 cab ride But the Freemont Street Experience is cool And it...

These features, which are the centerpiece of the park's attractions, often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun's rays. In this video I drive through the park a a beautiful spring day. See Full Blog Post - http://www.loveyourrv.com/return-visit-valley-of-fire-state-park-nevada/ In this video, I give you a look at the two campgrounds in the Valley of Fire State Park located an hour north-east of Las Vegas, Nevada. I also show dash cam footage of the spectacular signature drive out to White Domes. I finish up with a slide show of photos I took while hiking in the park. Valley of Fire SP is an amazing place loaded with gorgeous sandstone formations in a multitude of colors. A perfect spot for those who love photography, camping and hiking or just a beautiful scenic drive. To see it at it's best I recommended a visit in the late afternoon to sundown when the colored rock really comes alive. For more info and photographs check out this blog post from a previous visit - h...

HIGH SPEED!!! UFO Sightings METRO Nevada State Police Officer Engages UFO 2015 Share This!~Richard Eliot shares an incredible encounter with a UFO! Here is the correspondents: Hey guys I'm looking for answers from this. This happened last Saturday here in Las Vegas the wife and I were driving saw this thing above the mountain range to our left I took a quick picture in a notice that there was a police officer down there also watching it. So my wife told me to turn around let's go see what it is so I went down to the police officer and ask him apparently he was answering a call from dispatch from a commercial pilot that said this thing at one point was in the line of sight for incoming air traffic into the airport here in Las Vegas and they had genuine concerns that I was in their flight pa...

Las Vegas Nevada city of music and laughter city of lights
Las Vegas I didn't know I would lose Betty Jo in the noise of your night
Las Vegas where is the warmness and kindness that you used to show
Las Veags you're changing you're growing so cold you're so different
It started Las Vegas the moment you took Betty Jo
Now in Las Vegas in one of the largest casinos
Betty Jo dances while music is playing so loud
There's such a strangeness in eyes that I knew
She never sees me I'm only a face in the crowd
Las Vegas Nevada what happens now I'm completely out of her life
Las Vegas before you stepped in I had kinda made plans to make Betty my wife
Las Vegas I can't compete with the thrill and excitement you show
Completely forgotten by one I will always remember
Goodbye to Las Vegas goodbye to my sweet Betty Jo
