The St. Joseph Community Chorus, under the artistic direction of Frank D. Thomas and founded in 1980, presents interesting, challenging and diverse programs of choral music from the classical to contemporary throughout the Midwestern United States. The Chorus enjoys a rich history of outstanding choral performances in many beautiful settings.
In addition to its three-concert season, the Chorus collaborates with the St. Joseph Symphony each year performing such works as the Haydn Creation, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Britten's War Requiem, Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony, and Verdi's Requiem. The Chorus has also performed exchange concerts with other community choruses and has performed on the Moberly, MO Performing Arts Series as well as at the Mound City State Theater Arts Association and the Hiawatha Arts and Theatrical Society. In February 2005, the Chamber Choir premièred three Anthony Glise works with the Chorale Divertimento from Lille, France on the St. Joseph Performing Arts series.
The Chorus has toured Great Britain and Eastern Europe participating in the Innsbruck Choral Festival. It has performed at state and regional conventions and premièred commissioned works by internationally known composers such as John Bacharet, Donald Patriquin and Stephen Paulus as well as local composer Michael Mathews.
From within the Chorus, a select Chamber Choir was created in 1987. The chamber ensemble, invited frequently to perform at public and private events during the year, performs on each of the chorus' three subscription concerts. An auditioned chamber choir traveled to France in March of 2005 to perform with the Chorale Divertimento. Plans are underway for another exchange with this choir in 2007.
The St. Joseph Community Chorus always strives to adhere to its mission statement that is to foster the enjoyment and appreciation of good choral music among its membership and the community at large by providing an organization of the highest musical caliber to present exceptional performances of choral literature. We take pride in the fact that we regularly involve over ninety singers from Northwest Missouri in the creative process of singing together. The Chorus is a significant musical ensemble helping to bring the college and community together in an artistically meaningful way.

Series Premise:
When Schlitz Playhouse of Stars first premiered it was an hour long live drama from New York. The format changed in April 1952 to a half hour show. During the summer of 1954 filmed episodes appeared along with live ones. This completely changed by fall 1956 to entirely filmed dramas, as well as the title shortened to Schlitz Playhouse of Stars. It remained weekly until the start of the eighth season when it aired on alternate-week basis with Lux Playhouse.

June Allyson
June Allyson (October 7, 1917 – July 8, 2006) was an American stage, film, and television actress, dancer, and singer.
Allyson began her career as a dancer on Broadway in 1938. She signed with MGM in 1943, and rose to fame the following year in Two Girls and a Sailor. Allyson's "girl next door" image was solidified during the mid-1940s when she was paired with actor Van Johnson in five films. In 1951, she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her performance in Too Young to Kiss. From 1959 to 1961, she hosted and occasionally starred in her own anthology series, The DuPont Show with June Allyson, which aired on CBS.
In the 1970s, she returned to the stage starring in Forty Carats and No, No, Nanette. In 1982, Allyson released her autobiography June Allyson by June Allyson, and continued her career with guest starring roles on television and occasional film appearances. She later established the June Allyson Foundation for Public Awareness and Medical Research and worked to raise money for research for urological and gynecological diseases affecting senior citizens. During the 1980s, Allyson also became a spokesperson for Depend undergarments. She made her final onscreen appearance in 2001.

The DuPont Show with June Allyson (also known as The June Allyson Show) is an American anthology drama series which aired on CBS from September 21, 1959 to April 3, 1961 with rebroadcasts continuing until June 12, 1961. The series was hosted by actress June Allyson and was a Four Star-Pamric Production.
Overview
Allyson was the third woman in network history to host such a series, her predecessors having been Loretta Young and Jane Wyman. Like Young and Wyman, she not only hosted the series but starred in nearly two dozen of the fifty-seven produced episodes. Some of the best known actors appeared on the series, including then husband and studio boss Dick Powell, Ginger Rogers, Harpo Marx, Bette Davis, and Ronald Reagan.
The Delaware-based DuPont Company also sponsored the DuPont Show of the Month, a 90-minute dramatic episodes which aired from 1957-1961. Allyson's series was filmed at Four Star Television Studios, a creation of Dick Powell as well as Ida Lupino, Charles Boyer, and David Niven.

Schlitz Playhouse of Stars
Schlitz Playhouse of Stars is an anthology series that was telecast from 1951 until 1959 on CBS. Offering both comedies and drama, the series was sponsored by the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company. The title was shortened to Schlitz Playhouse, beginning with the fall 1957 season.
Live to film
Initially, the show was broadcast live, but starting in the summer of 1953, some episodes were filmed in advance. Beginning with the 1956-1957 season, all of the shows were filmed.
Between October 1951 and March 1952, the hour-long show was aired at 9 pm. In April 1952, the running time was reduced from an hour to 30 minutes. The series moved to 9:30 pm in the 1955 fall season.
Pilots
Two episodes served as pilots for later NBC Western series: The Restless Gun with John Payne (March 29, 1957 pilot) and Tales of Wells Fargo with Dale Robertson. The Restless Gun pilot was based on the radio series The Six Shooter, and Payne's character had the same name, Britt Ponset, as the radio character; that name was changed to Vint Bonner when the actual series began, possibly to prevent confusion with Bret Maverick in Maverick, which debuted in 1957.

Saint Joseph
Joseph (Hebrew יוֹסֵף, Yosef; Greek: Ἰωσήφ, Ioseph) is a figure in the Gospels, the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, and is venerated as Saint Joseph in the Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodox Church, Anglican Communion, Lutheranism and Methodism. Christian tradition places Joseph as Jesus' foster father. Some historians state that Joseph was Jesus's father. Some differing views are due to theological interpretations versus historical views.
The Pauline epistles make no reference to Jesus's father; nor does the Gospel of Mark. The first appearance of Joseph is in the gospels of Matthew and Luke. Each contains a genealogy of Jesus showing ancestry from king David, but through different sons; Matthew follows the major royal line from Solomon, while Luke traces another line back to Nathan, another son of David and Bathsheba. Consequently, all the names between David and Joseph are different. According to Matthew 1:16 "Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary", while according to Luke 3:23, Joseph is said to be "[the son] of Heli". Some scholars reconcile the genealogies by viewing the Solomonic lineage in Matthew as Joseph's major royal line, and the Nathanic lineage in Luke to be Mary's minor line.

The St. Joseph Community Chorus, under the artistic direction of Frank D. Thomas and founded in 1980, presents interesting, challenging and diverse programs of choral music from the classical to contemporary throughout the Midwestern United States. The Chorus enjoys a rich history of outstanding choral performances in many beautiful settings. In addition to its three-concert season, the Chorus collaborates with the St. Joseph Symphony each year performing such works as the Haydn Creation, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Britten's War Requiem, Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony, and Verdi's Requiem. The Chorus has also performed exchange concerts with other community choruses and has performed on the Moberly, MO Performing Arts Series as well as at the Mound City State Theater Arts Association and the...

Thomas and founded in 1980, presents interesting, challenging and diverse programs of choral music from the classical to contemporary throughout the Midwestern United States. The Chorus enjoys a rich history of outstanding choral performances in many beautiful settings.
In addition to its three-concert season, the Chorus collaborates with the St. Joseph Symphony each year performing such works as the Haydn Creation, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Britten's War Requiem, Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony, and Verdi's Requiem. The Chorus has also performed exchange concerts with other community choruses and has performed on the Moberly, MO Performing Arts Series as well as at the Mound City State Theater Arts Association and the Hiawatha Arts and Theatrical Society. In February 2005, the Chamber Choir premièred three Anthony Glise works with the Chorale Divertimento from Lille, France on the St. Joseph Performing Arts series.
The Chorus has toured Great Britain and Eastern Europe participating in the Innsbruck Choral Festival. It has performed at state and regional conventions and premièred commissioned works by internationally known composers such as John Bacharet, Donald Patriquin and Stephen Paulus as well as local composer Michael Mathews.
From within the Chorus, a select Chamber Choir was created in 1987. The chamber ensemble, invited frequently to perform at public and private events during the year, performs on each of the chorus' three subscription concerts. An auditioned chamber choir traveled to France in March of 2005 to perform with the Chorale Divertimento. Plans are underway for another exchange with this choir in 2007.
The St. Joseph Community Chorus always strives to adhere to its mission statement that is to foster the enjoyment and appreciation of good choral music among its membership and the community at large by providing an organization of the highest musical caliber to present exceptional performances of choral literature. We take pride in the fact that we regularly involve over ninety singers from Northwest Missouri in the creative process of singing together. The Chorus is a significant musical ensemble helping to bring the college and community together in an artistically meaningful way.

Series Premise:
When Schlitz Playhouse of Stars first premiered it was an hour long live drama from New York. The format changed in April 1952 to a half hour show. During the summer of 1954 filmed episodes appeared along with live ones. This completely changed by fall 1956 to entirely filmed dramas, as well as the title shortened to Schlitz Playhouse of Stars. It remained weekly until the start of the eighth season when it aired on alternate-week basis with Lux Playhouse.

The Bushwhackers (1952)
Plot: After four years of bloodshed, the Civil War finally ends. Discarding his weapons, Southern soldier Jefferson Waring (John Ireland) dedicates himself to the cause of pacifism. Waring relocates to a quiet frontier town in Missouri, where he hears news of profiteer Artemus Taylor (Lon Chaney) and a campaign of intimidation against local property holders. Selznick's Gone With the Wind (1939) and also designed the cave sequences in Selznick's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1938). Based on a story by Civil War author Hollister Noble, the film was produced by an independent company King Brothers Productions, filmed in SuperCineColor and released by RKO Pictures in September 1951. Plot:
Tired of killing, war veteran Jefferson Waring rides west, but in Missouri he sees "squatters" mowed down by men working for rich, ruthless Artemus Taylor.
He spends the night at Independence newspaperman Peter Sharpe's place, but is jailed when daughter Cathy Sharpe finds this total stranger in her room. The local marshal, John Harding, is just one of many men on Taylor's payroll.
Peter's business is threatened by banker Stone unless he takes Taylor's side against "squatters" settling in the region. The blind and wheelchair-bound Taylor and ambitious daughter Norah are secretly aware that railroad surveyors are considering laying tracks nearby, so they want all the land for themselves.
Jeff decides to leave. Norah and henchman Ding Bell intercept him; Norah shoots at him but misses. They take him to see Artemus, who tells a vocally reluctant Bell to take Jeff off to a remote canyon and murder him. Under Norah's instructions, Artemus's chief thug Sam Tobin goes after them to murder both; he wounds Jeff and kills Bell, but not before Bell hits him with a fatal shot. A doctor treats Jeff's wounds but Marshall Harding turns up and charges Jeff with the two killings.
When the situation escalates and two of Taylor's thugs gun down Peter Sharpe, Jeff breaks out of jail and organizes a group of settlers to resist Taylor's planned big attack. The settlers slaughter Taylor's thugs; Taylor dies of a heart attack; Norah, having shot and she thinks killed banker Justin Stone in order to get some getaway money, is killed by him as she leaves. Jeff stays in town to run the paper with Cathy.

Plot:
Best friends Clay Clayburn (James Craig) and Will Denning (Guy Madison) graduate from West Point and visit their friend and fellow graduate Braxton at his Georgia plantation in 1861. Clay had once loved Braxton's wife Kathy (Barbara Payton) and still does. When war is declared they soon find themselves fighting on opposite sides of the Civil War.
By 1864, Clay now a Field Artillery Major in the Confederacy is renowned for accepting but surviving suicide missions. He is given another. To delay General Sherman's March to the Sea, a local guide can lead a party of men and their disassembled cannon inside caves that lead to the top of Devil's Mountain where a battery of guns can destroy the railroad and the Union troop and supply trains that travel it, buying time for the Confederacy. Devil's Mountain is coincidentally near Braxton (who is now fighting elsewhere for the Confederacy) and Kathy's old plantation where Kathy remains with her uncle. Kathy agrees to monitor the activities of the Northern invaders and signal Clay's outpost from her window through a mirror by day and a lantern by night. Through her activities, Clay's men are notified of the arrival two supply trains and destroy both of them.
Arriving at the plantation is Will, who is now a Major in the Union Field Artillery. When the two men meet each other in combat, neither knows it as each is in an artillery position hundreds of yards from the other. However, the love of Clay's life, Kathy Summers, does know and tries desperately to save her two good friends from killing each other.
The Union Field Artillery cannot achieve the elevation or range with their cannon to clear the Confederate guns at the top of the mountain. Inside the mountain, the Union Infantry cannot find the path to the top and are delayed by Confederate snipers.
As the railroad line has been blocked by two destroyed trains, Union headquarters send a giant Naval Dahlgren gun manned by sailors and mounted on a flat car that has the capability to wipe out the Confederates. Kathy is able to supply Clay's guns with wire from her piano that is used to reinforce the barrel of one of Clay's guns that with a double charge and maximum elevation is able to destroy the naval gun and further block the railroad line.
Will has Union Army Engineers mine the inside of the mountain with explosives that will literally blow the top of the mountain. Kathy wishes to act as a mediator to get Clay and his men to surrender that the Union army is keen on as it will save time. However, Clay calculates that the explosion will send the cliff down over the railway line further blocking the Union's supplies.

Drums in the Deep South was the first from a new production set up by the King Brothers which involved them raising finance by selling shares. 300,000 shares worth $300,000 were issued to over 700 investors for Drums. The film was shot at Sam Goldwyn Studios and on location at Sonora, California.
