The Wests Tigers are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in Sydney's mid-western suburbs. They have competed in the National Rugby League since they were formed at the end of the 1999 season as a joint-venture club between the Balmain Tigers and the Western Suburbs Magpies.

The Wests Tigers started playing in the 2000 NRL season and won their maiden premiership in 2005. Although this is the Wests Tigers' only NRL premiership to date, the club has a heritage of eleven premierships won by Balmain and four by Western Suburbs, both foundation clubs from the NSWRFL's creation in 1908. The Wests Tigers also won the World Sevens in 2004.

The Wests Tigers have three home grounds: Leichhardt Oval (the home ground of Balmain), Campbelltown Stadium (the home ground of Western Suburbs) and the Sydney Football Stadium. They also play one "home" game at the Sydney Cricket Ground. They are currently coached by Tim Sheens and captained by Robbie Farah.

The game of rugby league began in 1908 as the New South Wales Rugby League premiership (NSWRL) which had nine teams from the Sydney, Australia area. Two of those teams were clubs based in Balmain and the Western Suburbs who happen to meet each other in the in round 1 of 1908 Balmain went on to win 24 to 0. The Balmain club, who later adopted a Tiger as their emblem, in their tenure in the NSWRL won eleven premierships in twenty grand finals and was one of the forces in the NSWRL competition. However their last premiership success was in 1969 and in the 1990s with many new clubs being established, there was pressure on clubs to perform to survive in the first grade competition in Australia.

Curtis Sironen is an Australian professional rugby league player for the Wests Tigers in the Australian NRL competition. He plays at five-eighth. He is the son of Paul Sironen.

Sironen played his junior football with the Dundas Shamrocks. A student at Holy Cross College Ryde, Sironen captained the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges to victory in the Austr­alian Schoolboys tournament in 2011. He represented New South Wales at an under-18 level, and played for the Australian Schoolboys side in 2011, while playing for Wests Tigers NYC team. Undergoing shoulder surgery after completing his HSC, Sironen rejoined the NYC team in round 9.

With Robert Lui leaving the club at the end of 2011, Sironen was considered a possible replacement for the Wests Tigers halfback, along with players Jacob Miller, Tim Moltzen, and Tom Humble. Moltzen started the season at halfback, but a number of players filled the position before Benji Marshall moved from five-eighth.

Sironen was 18 years old when he made his debut from the bench against the North Queensland Cowboys midway through the 2012 season. The next week he made his first appearance in the starting side, playing at five-eighth and scoring a try. Coach Tim Sheens said of him, "I've been trying to hide him as long as I can. There's no doubt he's a first grader." Sironen is the first son of a former Balmain or Wests player to get a run for Wests Tigers.

Pat Richards (born 27 February 1982 in Liverpool, New South Wales) is an Irish-Australian professional rugby league footballer for the Wigan Warriors of Europe's Super League. An Ireland international representative winger, he previously played in the National Rugby League for Sydney clubs the Parramatta Eels and Wests Tigers, winning the 2005 premiership with Wests. Following his move to Super League, Richards was awarded the 2010 Man of Steel Award, finishing as the season's top point scorer before helping the Wigan Warriors to victory in the 2010 Super League Grand Final.

Born in Liverpool, New South Wales to Irish parents, Richards attended St Therese Primary School and Westfields Sports High. He played junior rugby league for the Cabramatta club.

Richards played for the Parramatta Eels between 2000-2003. In 2001 he was unable to play in the grand final due to a broken leg. After the 2003 season Richards moved to Wests Tigers.

He enjoyed a successful 2005 season with the Tigers. He scored a club record 20 tries during the season, since surpassed by Taniela Tuiaki. Richards' drop kicks/outs and towering kick-offs were instrumental in gaining valuable field position for the team during their premiership year.

Marika Koroibete (born 26 July 1992) is a Fijian professional rugby league footballer for the Wests Tigers of the National Rugby League. He primarily plays wing.

Born in the village of Navaiyawa, Fiji, Koroibete played his junior football for his school in Fiji before being signed by the Wests Tigers. He was signed after being spotted playing for the Fiji Under 19s. He played for the Tigers' Toyota Cup team in 2011 and 2012, scoring 22 tries in 26 games. In Round 21 of the 2012 NRL season he made his NRL debut for the Tigers against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Koroibete has played for the Fiji Under 19s.

Tim Simona (born 20 November 1991) is an Australian rugby league footballer who currently plays for Wests Tigers in the NRL. He plays at centre.

A Doonside junior, Simona joined the Wests Tigers first grade squad in 2011. He made his "impressive NRL debut" in Round 13, 2011 against the Newcastle Knights in a period when Chris Lawrence was out injured. He made 3 further first grade appearances for the season.
