The Welsh Government (Welsh: Llywodraeth Cymru) is the executive branch of the devolved government in Wales. It is accountable to the National Assembly for Wales, the legislature which represents the interests of the Welsh people and makes laws for Wales. The National Assembly was created by the Government of Wales Act 1998.

The Welsh Government and the National Assembly for Wales were established as separate institutions under the Government of Wales Act 2006. The Government is referred to in that Act as the Welsh Assembly Government, but to prevent confusion about the respective roles and responsibilities of the National Assembly and the Government, the devolved administration became known as the Welsh Government in May 2011, following the precedent set by the Scottish Government re-name in 2007.

The Welsh Government consists of the First Minister, usually the leader of the largest party in the National Assembly for Wales; up to twelve ministers and deputy ministers, appointed by the First Minister; and a Counsel General, nominated by the First Minister and approved by the National Assembly.

Jane Hutt AM (born 15 December 1949) is a Welsh Labour politician and a Minister in the Welsh Assembly Government. Hutt has represented the Vale of Glamorgan constituency since the National Assembly for Wales was established in 1999. Hutt has been a government Minister since 1999, her latest appointment being Minister for Business and Budget in December 2009.

Born in Epsom, Surrey, on 15 December 1949, Hutt's Welsh-speaking grandparents are from north Wales. Hutt graduated from the University of Kent, Canterbury in 1970 with a BA (Hons), gained a Certificate of Qualification in Social Work at the London School of Economics in 1972 and an MSc at the University of Bristol in 1995.

Hutt was one of the founder members of Welsh Women's Aid, a feminist organisation campaigning on behalf of women who are victims of domestic violence. She was appointed coordinator of the group in January 1978.

Hutt held non-political appointments as director of the equal opportunities organisation Chwarae Teg and non-executive director of the Cardiff Community Health Care Trust. Member New Deal Task Force. . School Governor. Welsh member on the New Opportunities (UK) Fund.

Ifan Evans is a Welsh rugby union player, for Newport RFC and the Wales 7's team. He previously played for Llandovery RFC .

Mathew Quinn (born April 17, 1976 in Harare, Zimbabwe) is a South African sprinter. Together with Morne Nagel, Corne Du Plessis and Lee Roy Newton he won a silver medal in 4 x 100 metres relay at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics.

Following the ruling of December 13, 2005 which retroactively disqualified Tim Montgomery and henceforth the American team, the South African team were promoted to gold medallists.

Chris Lea is a designer, politician and political activist in Canada. He was the leader of the Green Party of Canada from 1990 to 1996. He is, to date, the party's longest-serving leader. Lea is notable for being the first openly gay political party leader in Canadian history.

Lea lives in Toronto. Formerly a professional architect, he is the Director, Facilities of Hart House at the University of Toronto and Vice-President of the Toronto Opera Repertoire. During the 1980s, he volunteered The Body Politic, a periodical focusing on gay issues, sitting briefly on its editorial collective, and serving on the committee that set up Xtra!, Canada's most successful gay newspaper. Lea worked on the committee that organized the Summit Citizen’s Conference, the counter-summit to the G-7 meetings taking place in Toronto in 1988. With Frank de Jong, Lea organized a successful viral campaign against McDonald’s use of disposable styrofoam clamshell packing containers and as well a series of protests which stalled the expansion of nuclear power in Ontario in the early 1990s by bringing light on the massive debt that the province's nuclear programme had created.
