The government of Prime Minister Elio di Rupo has to raise money to cut its debt below 100 percent of annual economic output, as agreed with the European Commission. The country's stake in France's biggest bank is worth around 6.3 billion-euros. It is a legacy of the bailout of Belgian financial group Fortis, which was taken over by BNP as part of a state-backed rescue. If it sold the shares now it would suffer a loss as they are trading at around 50 euros, below the 68 euro purchase price. That is despite a rebound in European bank stocks, in which BNP Paribas's shares have risen almost threefold from their 2011 lows. "At current market levels the loss for the Belgian state would be acceptable ... It is plausible that they are really looking for a way to sell this stake," said Yohan Salleron, fund manager at Mandarine Gestion, which owns BNP shares. "A logical outcome would be for BNP to buy back the shares ... That would be the best thing for the shareholders." The Belgian prime minister's office declined to comment and BNP Paribas declined to comment. Title: President Park discusses stronger economic cooperation with Belgian prime minister President Park Geun-hye currently is in Brussels on the third and final leg of her European trip. On Thursday, she held a bilateral summit with the Belgian prime minister, where the two leaders focused on boosting economic cooperation. Our presidential correspondent Eoh Jin-joo filed this report from Brussels. President Park's bilateral talks with Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo Thursday were mainly focused on boosting economic cooperation. Korea and Belgium agreed to expand their bilateral trade volume, which currently stands at 3-point-7 billion U.S. dollars, and investment based on the Korea-EU free trade agreement. In particular, Korea has attracted a total of 370 million dollars in foreign investment from five leading European companies, including Belgian chemical firm Solvay, which will build a manufacturing factory worth 110 million dollars in Saemangeum, a tidal flat on Korea's west coast. The two nations also signed an MOU to carry out joint development projects in third markets, such as Congo, Rwanda and Vietnam. And to lay the foundation for cooperation in the sector of the creative economy, Korea and Belgium will push ahead with negotiations to set up a joint committee on science technology and to sign a cooperative agreement in this field. Earlier in the day, at a meeting with Korean and Belgian scientists and businessmen, President Park emphasized Europe was a crucial partner in realizing a creative economy. "Europe has led the development of basic science for a long time, and it has supported set-ups and venture companies so that they could grow into globally competitive firms based on the foundation of basic science." The president wrapped up her first day in Brussels by attending a dinner banquet hosted by King Philippe. "On Friday, the last day of her Europe tour, President Park is scheduled to hold summit talks with leaders of the European Council and the EU Commission. They are expected to adopt a joint declaration with this year marking the 50 anniversary of diplomatic ties, setting a vision for future cooperation. Citizens' Dialogue in Liege, Belgium - Jose Manuel Barroso- Debate on the Future of Europe
http://ec.europa.eu/debate-future-europe/citizens-dialogues/belgium/liege/index_en.htm "Who is responsible for the crisis?" and "What does Europe do to stop the decline of our industries?" were two typical questions from 600 citizens who discussed with Commission President José Manuel Barroso, Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders and the Walloon Minister for the Economy, Jean-Claude Marcourt, in the Théatre de Liège. The participants in the Citizens' Dialogue held in the largest metropolitan area of Wallonia on 17 October debated with a Commission President who was convinced that "fiscal consolidation is not enough to overcome the crisis" and felt that "we need to re-industrialise Europe". RIVERSIDE RENDEZVOUS
http://popeyeproductions.com/en
PopEye is an interdisciplinary international circuit that connects students and young experts in the fields of Anthropology, Economy and Visual Arts in Italy and Belgium (mainly from Venice, Turin and Gand). A very special kind of research group comes out from this poliedric sum of competences, able to operate out of classical schemes. With its activities, the equipe aims to deeply analyze etnographical events by different views, with a special focus on the multisciplinary aspects of the research.
The first activity of the PopEye group will lead to a documentary about the Purna Kumbh Mela (litt. “complete” Kumbh Mela), one of the biggest and most important religious festivals all over the world.
This special experience is shared by millions of people and has attracted in the last years a huge number of tourists from western countries, fascinated by Indian tradition and by the peculiarity of the event. The equip will work in this framework: the fieldwork will be set in Allahabad and in other cities where the religious pilgrimage and the western tourism will be more remarkable. Aim of the research will be the production of a documentary of about 30-50 minutes of duration. The production and filming will least about 50 days (from January, 15th until early March 2013).

"Moi, Michel G, Milliardaire, Maître du monde" is a comedy by Stéphane Kazandjian,
built as a fake documentary about a loan shark (Francois-Xavier Demaison).
France release: 27 April 2011
Belgium release : May 4, 2011
Our team was pleased to work on the animation sequences throughout the movie, and other various effects
(opening sequence, titles) in motion graphics.
The fictional director of the fake documentary (Laurent Lafitte), uses short animated sequences to explain the shenanigans of the businessman, and this way express his satirical vision of the economy.
Stéphane Kazandjian wanted to insert a few didactic elements about the complex mechanism of the world of finance:
"The use of animation, in addition to its graphic appeal, also emphasizes the fun side of business, and participates in making the movie more quirky. Instead of boring graphs, we find ourselves with colorful little bickering characters. This immediately defuses the sacrosanct economy "(allocine.fr)

Panda's Xing Hui and Hao Hao Arrive at Zoo in Belgium
Panda's Xing Hui and Hao Hao Arrive at Zoo in Belgium Two giant pandas arrived in Belgium on a 15-year loan on Sunday, and they got the kind of welcome usually reserved for visiting dignitaries or celebrities. The male and female pair, Xing Hui and Hao Hao, showed no signs of stress from a journey of more than 12 hours as their transparent boxes were unloaded at Brussels Airport to cheers from school children. The pandas will live at Pairi Daiza, a wildlife park about 50 km (30 miles) southwest of Brussels. "For our economy, commerce, our scientific and cultural ties, this is truly a major event," Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo said. "Pandas are a national treasure for the Chinese." Belgium is China's sixth-largest trading partner in the European Union, with total trade in goods of 21.2 billion euros ($29.1 billion) in 2012. Panda loans do more than cement diplomatic and trade ties. They are also good for business. France's Zoo Parc de Beauval recorded almost 50 percent more visitors after its panda pair arrived two years ago. Pairi Daiza had already seen a 30 percent bump in visitors last year, to 1.24 million. It expects 1.35 million this year. The extra visitors and related merchandise will be needed to cover costs, including an annual fee of around $1 million for China. Pairi Daiza has also spent over $10 million to create a 'Chinese Garden' home for the pair. Annual upkeep is put at $50,000 each. The four-year-old pandas are insured for $1 million each. Still, investors believe. Pairi Daiza shares have shot up to 55 euros from less than 25 six months ago. Their arrival brings to 47 the number of pandas living outside China, in 18 zoos in 13 countries. Female Hao Hao, meaning 'Nice', and male Xing Hui, meaning 'Sparkling Star', will travel as part of a research and reproduction program. About 1,600 pandas live in the wild, according to conservation organization WWF. Their numbers not helped by the fact that females can conceive for only two to three days each spring. China's decision last September to grant the pandas sparked a row in linguistically divided Belgium. Some Dutch speakers were angry that they would be going to a zoo in the French-speaking part of the country.- published: 24 Feb 2014

Our presidential office correspondent Eoh Jin-joo has more on the president's last overseas trip for this year. The focus of President Park's trip to Europe will be strengthening cooperation with European countries in the areas of the creative economy and finance. Korea sees Britain as having the most potential for cooperative projects, given its strong financial sector. Senior presidential secretary for economic affairs Cho Won-dong told reporters that a large number of MOUs are currently being discussed with Britain, including one on setting up a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Korea and another on cooperation between the financial watchdogs of the two nations. In addition, the Korea Development Bank and a British venture capital company are expected to sign an MOU during President Park's state visit to Britain, opening the doors for Korean venture firms to garner investment from that country. President Park also aims to pave the way for Korean companies seeking to participate in joint projects with France when entering third markets such as Africa and Russia. The presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae said that Korea and France will discuss ways to work together to lay a foundation for a creative economy in Korea based on the European country's advanced technology and cultural content. They will also discuss cooperation on a series of mega energy projects. During her eight-day trip to France, Britain and Belgium,, President Park is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with French President Francois Hollande, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo and the presidents of the EU Commission and European Council. She will also meet with Queen Elizabeth the Second and Belgium's King Philippe. "In addition to reprising her 'sales diplomacy' approach to her talks with European leaders, President Park is expected to engage in 'soft diplomacy' to connect with the European people. She will be attending Korean drama and film events during her trip and will tour a university in London. Eoh Jin-joo, Arirang News."- published: 01 Nov 2013
