Vibrasphere

Vibrasphere was a progressive psytrance music duo from Uppsala, Sweden. Its founding members were Rickard Berglöf and Robert Elster.

History

Rickard was previously a member of early Goa group Subcouds and at around the same time Robert had started musical production on an Amiga. After meeting through Rickard's younger cousin, the pair decided to start studio recordings in June 1998 with the creation of Vibrasphere.

Robert decided to quit the group half a year after the release of their second album, Lime Structure, due to constant touring. Rickard continued both touring and studio recording. In 2005 Robert decided to rejoin the group, leaving Rickard still in charge of touring duties.

Current events

Their fourth album, Exploring the Tributaries (2007), took a few more leaps towards progressive, fading the barriers between trance and house music while also featuring dub, downbeat and ambient tracks.

In November 2010, Vibrasphere announced it was disbanding. The group's website stated "We are very sorry to inform you that we have decided to close down the Vibrasphere project. This is due to several reasons, but mainly we feel it is time to move on to other projects within the music. After all, 12 years is a very long time for any music project. We are very grateful to all the fans, promoters, labels, djs and other people that have supported us in the past 12 years."

Archipelago (album)

Archipelago is the second album by the American group Land, who blend jazz, rock, and world music. A May, 1996 concert broadcast formed the basis for most of the album, Archipelago. "Deep", the final track for Archipelago, was recorded in February 1997, with finishing touches completed in July. The album was released on the Periplum label later that year.

Peter Monaghan, writing for Earshot Jazz magazine, describes Archipelago, in part: "LAND, on its second album, continues to construct transporting, otherworldly terrains of rich melody, washes of acoustic and electric sound, and pulsing and jangling rhythm. Add to that fine improv by all band members..."

MRI scanners use strong magnetic fields, radio waves, and field gradients to form images of the body.

Fluid-attenuated inversion recovery

Summary

Fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) is a pulse sequence used in magnetic resonance imaging which was invented by Dr. Graeme Bydder. FLAIR can be used with both three-dimensional imaging (3D FLAIR) or two dimensional imaging (2D FLAIR).

The pulse sequence is an inversion recovery technique that nulls fluids. For example, it can be used in brain imaging to suppress cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) effects on the image, so as to bring out the periventricular hyperintense lesions, such as multiple sclerosis (MS) plaques.

By carefully choosing the inversion time (TI), the signal from any particular tissue can be nulled. The appropriate TI depends on the tissue via the formula:

in other words, one should typically use a TI of around 70% of the T₁ value. In the case of CSF suppression, one aims for T₂ weighted images. Therefore, if the long T₁ (inversion time) is adjusted to a zero crossing point, the signal of the CSF is theoretically being "erased," from the derived image.

Version is the second album by New York-based English producer Mark Ronson. It is an album of cover versions with a retro-inspired sound, which Mark Ronson describes as "Motown/Stax".Version was released on 14 June 2007 in the iTunes Store, and it entered the UK Album Chart at number two on 22 June 2007.

The album reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and has sold 105,584 copies as of January 2015.

About

Released in mid-2007, the album charted in the Billboard 200 and debuted at number 2 in the UK, supported by the success of single "Stop Me", which charted at number 2 in the UK, top 5 of the US Dance charts, and in the top 40 of Italy and Australia. Upon its release, the album managed to crack into the World Top 40, charting at 29.

Ronson's next single, "Oh My God" with Lily Allen, became his second top 10 single, peaking at 8 in the UK. "Valerie", Ronson's third single, also peaked at number 2 in the British charts, kept out of the top spot by the Sugababes. It has spent a dozen weeks in the top 10 and has sold well over 300,000 copies. The song ended the year as the ninth biggest seller, behind number 1's "Bleeding Love", "Umbrella", "Grace Kelly" among others. "Valerie" also charted in the Switzerland and New Zealand charts and even managed to top the Dutch Top 40 for four consecutive weeks, keeping Leona Lewis from the top spot.
