A tour on Royal Brunei Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner to Kota Kinabalu
Recently had the chance to try out RBA's 787-8 Dreamliner after a day trip at BWN, on the BWN-BKI route. I believe this was one of the shortest 787 flight in the world, which only took 21 minutes ! [FLIGHT INFORMATION] Date: 28/11/2013 (Thursday) Flight number: BI825 Seat number: 46J (Economy class), 10A (Business class) Aircraft type / tail number: Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner / V8-DLB Departure gate: 5 Departure time: 4.41pm ( 16 minutes behind schedule ) Arrival gate: B3 Arrival time: 5.02pm ( 3 minutes ahead schedule ) Total flight time: 21 minutes Flight load: 55% on Economy class, 5% on Business class Comments: Again, RBA never disappoint me. From the check-in counter staffs, to the FA onboard, their friendliness can be seen everywhere. They still managed to run the mood lighting system for passengers to take photos, even though for such a short flight. It's time for them to gain a 5 stars achievement in the aviation industries. I enjoyed this flight very much, will definitely fly with them again in the future. As this will be my last video for 2013, once again I would like to say a big Thank You to all my subscribers as well as viewers for all the support along for 3 years. Hopefully yOPwn3d18 will continue growing with more amazing videos in the coming years. Last but not least, wishing all subscribers and viewers: A joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year 2014 ! Pres. Park to continue her 'sales diplomacy' in Indonesia & Brunei visits
Subscribe to Arirang News! http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=arirangnews President Park Geun-hye will embark on an eight-day visit to Southeast Asian countries including Brunei and Indonesia on Sunday. She is set to attend key regional summits and promote her sales diplomacy. Our presidential office correspondent Eoh Jin-joo has the details of the upcoming trip. President Park's trip to the Southeast Asian region will be dominated by a central theme: "sales diplomacy." In meetings with leaders of the 21 APEC member countries and 10 ASEAN member states during her stay in Indonesia and Brunei, President Park aims to boost her policy goals of economic revitalization and job creation through diplomatic exchange. In a keynote speech at a CEO summit that she will give upon her arrival in Bali on Sunday, the president is expected to introduce the Korean government's key economic polices and its efforts to ease regulations to attract foreign investment. During the Korea-ASEAN summit scheduled for Wednesday in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, President Park and the leaders of the ASEAN member countries will discuss ways to further strengthen their economic cooperation. ASEAN has become Korea's key economic partner over the years, as it is the second largest market in bilateral trade for Korea and the biggest market for Korean investment. President Park's state visit to Indonesia also falls in line with her economic emphasis on the ASEAN region, which has emerged as a so-called post-BRICs bloc. Indonesia's population and economy are the biggest among the ASEAN member nations, which is why President Park chose it as the next destination for her sales diplomacy pitch, following Vietnam last month. She is scheduled to hold a bilateral summit with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono next Saturday, when she will seek ways to strengthen and expand the two countries' cooperation in the industries of energy, the environment and forestry. "One of her key goals during her state visit to Jakarta is securing Indonesian government support for Korean companies seeking to participate in major national projects, such as the construction of Sunda Strait Bridge and Soekarno Hatta Airport railway. Arrival from Indonesia and Brunei 10/10/2013
NAIA Terminal II, Pasay City 10 October 2013 Following his attendance to the 21st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Indonesia and the 23rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Brunei Darussalam, President Benigno S. Aquino III arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal II Thursday evening. In his arrival statement, President Aquino cited a few of the successful talks the country had undertaken during the two aforementioned events. One of the highlights being discussed throughout the 21st APEC summit was people-to-people connectivity, serving as one key strategy in strengthening trade and investment. He also added that cross-border education will greatly contribute in paving progress across the Asia-Pacific. Meanwhile, the promotion of small-scale businesses through the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, bolstering the country's disaster preparedness, as well as the security of Filipinos overseas, were among the focal points the President emphasized in the said summit. "Ito mismo ang batayang prinsipyong gumabay, at patuloy na gagabay sa atin bilang isang bansa. Hindi natin hahayaang politika ang magdikta sa direksyong tatahakin ng mga Pilipino. Tanging ang interes ng nakararami, ang pagbuwag sa kultura ng katiwalian, at ang pagsusulong ng malawakang kaunlaran ang tumitimon sa bawat hakbang natin dito sa tuwid na daan," the Chief Executive said. * * * Connect with RTVM Website: http://rtvm.gov.ph Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rtvm.gov.ph Twitter: @RTVMalacanang LinkedIn: Radio Television Malacanang Google+:http://gplus.to/RTVMalacanang Google Plus Username- published: 10 Oct 2013

The South China Sea - Sea as Landscape Construction
Sea as Landscape Construction
The South China Sea as the most disputed water in the world
A videographic essay by Xiaoran Du, Yue Shi, Han Yang
This video is produced for the 'DES 3241 : Theories of Urbanism, Landscape, Ecology', a course taught by Pierre Bélanger at Harvard University Graduate School of Design in the Fall 2013.
The South China Sea is a marginal sea and part of the Pacific Ocean, with an approximate area of 3,500,000 square kilometers. Enclosed by Mainland China, the island of Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam, it holds an important position in the world in many ways. More than one fourth of the seaborne crude oil passes the region every year, it also accounts for a large portion of overfishing problems globally, and over 14 of the top twenty busiest seaports in the world are highly associated with this body of water.
The dispute over the South China Sea originated in the definition of exclusive economic zone (EEZ) prescribed by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, which extends to a distance of 200 nautical miles out from a country’s coastal baseline. However, EEZ is not the only criterion that the surrounding countries use for their declaration of sovereignty. China and Taiwan claim the entire body of water based on historical records. Malaysia, Vietnam, and Brunei extend their EEZs due to the extended continental shelf. The Philippines’s request of the Sea assumes that the Spratly Islands are its own territory. Having control over this piece of water indicates the control of natural resources, shipping routes and the right of speech in various international affairs, and it is believed to hold huge oil and gas reserves beneath its seabed.
Despite the fact that China, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Malaysia are all among the top 20 biggest fisheries production countries, marine pollution and overfishing pose a direct threat to the South China Sea’s ecosystems. Since hundreds of thousands of fishermen rely on the Sea to make a living around the region, overfishing indirectly leads to the surge of piracy in recent years. Indonesia has become the pirate hotspots of the region, partially because of its vicinity to one of the most popular straits, the Malacca Strait, but more importantly, its high percentage of population living in poverty.
Regardless of these destabilizing factors, cities around the South China Sea have been flourishing since WWII. Coastal cities have been developing based on the export economy. Populous metropolitan areas extend along the coastal regions. It is important for the countries around this region to maintain safe waterways and a comprehensive framework of cooperation, and recognize the Sea itself as a landscape construction.

Media in Brunei: Behind The Regulations & The Rise of the New Media
• Title of film: The Media in Brunei: Behind The Regulation and The Rise of New Media • A brief description/synopsis of your film: This video aims to educate the viewers on the state of media in Brunei as well as the use of the new media by Bruneian media users. We shall show certain contents that have gone viral in the new media (e.g Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, etc.) specifically in Brunei and explain why the use of new media in Brunei seems to be lacking in proper regulation and monitoring. We will also mention the external regulations that have been done by the government and further question whether those efforts are enough to control the usage of new media in Brunei. We shall also introduce the D.R.U.M.S which will be further explained in the video. We have adopted a newscast and documentary style to our film as our aim is to show the state of media in Brunei and how new media is being utilised by the media users here. Most references are taken online from trusted government websites such as AiTi Brunei. We look into books and journals for our general understanding on the role of media and why regulation is important. • In point form only, things in the video you wish to highlight to me (a particular shot? a particular argument/content? A particular sound/ piece of music? A particular style? Etc.) - Please give Min:Sec in the video for each of these things. We have brought up the issue of media users in Brunei utilising the new media to rapidly share content or information that may contain the D.R.U.M.S. We have explained that media users in Brunei should be more responsible in the content that they might share in the new media and not to accept every information or content shared at face-value and be more wary of further sharing it to the mass public. Apart from external regulation from the government, internal regulation or self-regulation is important where media users are aware of the content they may receive in the new media and be critical of believing it and further sharing it to their connections in the new media platforms. • Self-reflection: Things you wish could have done better, or differently, with your video and your reasons why. We are aware of what is lacking in the film especially in terms of content and understanding of what media regulation actually is. We have tried to relate as much to Brunei where we try to show how media regulation is done and why media regulation is important especially with the use of new media such as the internet and social networking sites. Considering that this is a level 4000 module, our group being all 2nd year students are finding it tough to cope with the demand for the film. We need further understanding on media regulation and probably even do more research on Brunei's media regulation and its current updates. We have tried with whatever resources and time we have, with whatever understanding we have on the subject to produce this film for the module. There is also not much reference for the state of media in Brunei therefore most of our explanation are very generic and are based on our own understanding and observation of the media in Brunei. We think we could have done a better job if all of our group members are able to synchronize our time with one another to do work in this film assignment. However due to each and of us taking different modules, our free times are also different thus limiting the options for us to sit down together and working on this assignment. Our lack in knowledge in video recording also limits our ability to provide a good presentation in the film and that we took too much time experimenting with different styles and approaches in recording. Simply said, we know we could have done better in filming and explaining media regulation. Brunei To Enforce Syariah Law Next Year 2014
Brunei to enforce Syariah law next year HUKUM HUDUD BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN Tuesday, October 22, 2013 BRUNEI Darussalam is enforcing its first Syariah Penal Code six months from now. In a titah or royal speech during the launch of this year's Knowledge Convention, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam said the Syariah or Islamic laws will be enforced in phases. His Majesty said the Syariah Penal Code is a "special guidance" from Allah. "It is because of our need that Allah the Almighty, in all His generosity, has created laws for us, so that we can utilise them to obtain justice." The monarch further said that the legislation is "now part of the great history of our nation". "The step we are taking does not in any way change our policies," His Majesty added. The sovereign said Brunei is always mindful of what can benefit the sultanate in all aspects, including politics, the economy, social and other issues. "We view others with clear and unhindered vision, without any form of prejudice. In return, we also have the right to expect that others will view Brunei in the same light," His Majesty said.- published: 23 Oct 2013
