IMPORTANT - My cricoid cartilage is especially movable b/c I have been doing this a lot lately. Don't be discouraged if your cartilage only wiggles a little bit. This is a technique a friend and I worked out for helping people with dysfunctional belch reflex. By wiggling the cricoid cartilage you can relax the upper esophageal sphincter a little bit and hopefully release some air as a burp.

This maneuver is based on internal cricoid pressure (ICP) described by Dr Basca for your device Baska Mask (BM) and external cricoid pressure (ECP). As you can see: the EPC moves up the BM. Then pushing the BM from its end in the mouth due to ICP, you can feel in your fingers as the tip of the BM slides under the cricoid cartilage. This maneuver can help verify the correct placement of the BM tip.
