Gyeonggi-do's Amazing "120" Call Center
Gyeonggi-do's Amazing "120" Call Center
Today's video is a helpful travel tip for those working and living in Gyeonggi Province. It's a 24/7 office and call center designed to help with every facet of life in South Korea. During regular business hours they offer support in Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, Mongolian, and Vietnamese. Those that are hearing impaired can also call in via video phones to receive sign language support. After hours that support continues through a partnership with the BBB Volunteer network. While on-site, I had the opportunity to test one of the English operators with a travel request. To my surprise and enjoyment, she was able to get me the information within a minute I got my answer. The 120 Call Center bolsters a 97.6% positive customer service rating, which is amazing. One of the reasons for the high rating is because of the center's director, Lee, Se-jong (이세정). He's focused on making 120 the best it can be and to achieve that, he volunteers on the floor one day a week to better understand the needs of the operators and callers. If you're living in Gyeonggi-do or traveling in the area, I honestly feel this service can benefit you. Simply pick up the phone and dial 120 within Gyeonggi Province. Outside the area, dial 031-120 to reach the call center. -= WEB SITES =- G+: http://google.com/+SteveMiller_QiRanger Twitter: http://twitter.com/qiranger Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/qiranger Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/qirangeradventures Instagram: http://instagr.am/qiranger Blog: http://qiranger.com The Travel and News Channel: http://youtube.com/qiranger The Vlog Channel: http://youtube.com/theqirangervlog Podcast: http://qiranger.com/tqrap TAGS: Gyeonggi-do (South Korean Province),travel, travel assistance, call center,120 line, tourism, gyeonggi 120 line, psa,Public Service Announcement (TV Genre),ttot- published: 06 Mar 2014

Suspected bird flu case at farm in Gyeonggi-do province
Suspected bird flu case at farm in Gyeonggi-do province
Quarantine officials appear to be fighting a losing battle as they attempt to contain the spread of the bird flu. More and more suspected cases are popping up in areas that were previous unaffected by the virus. Kwon Soa has the latest. Despite mass sterilizations on the ground and in the skies, the culling of ducks and chickens in their hundreds of thousands, and movement bans on livestock and farmworkers... more and more suspected bird flu cases are being reported throughout Korea. Another suspected case was reported Tuesday at a chicken farm in the city of Pyeongtaek in Korea's central Gyeonggi-do Province. If confirmed, this would be the first case of bird flu at a farm in Gyeonggi-do Province and the second case of chicken contamination in the country. A day before, ducks on a farm in Jincheon in Chungcheongbuk-do Province were also suspected of carrying the virus. Investigations in both Pyeongtaek and Jincheon are underway, and the results on whether the highly pathogenic H5N8 virus has affected the farms is expected in the next few days. While confirmed or suspected flu cases have hit Jeolla-do, Chungcheong- do, as well as Gyeonggi-do provinces so far, officials in Gyeongsangnam- do in the southeast of the country say migratory bird droppings have tested positive for a flu virus, but further tests need to be done. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs says that,in past bird flu epidemics, the virus has often broke out in the westcoast regions and gradually spread inland. The government and the ruling Saenuri Party will hold an emergency meeting on this Tuesday to coordinate efforts to stem the spread of the virus over the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday. Travel Story Ep15 Eric Fileta's Life on a Korean Farm Eric Fileta, from Washington, D.C., was born to an Egyptian father and an American mother. He came to Korea on the advice of his college friends and fell in love with the country right away. Later, he went on a trip around the world to fulfill his childhood dream, and after about a year wandering alone, he met his current wife, Hye-won, at a guest house in Madrid, Spain. The couple spent two years traveling the world together, but they found most of the world's cities to be quite similar, and too busy for their taste. Just as they were feeling dragged down, Eric discovered his second dream in Tanzania, Africa. He met Hye-won's parents, who were volunteering as farmers with KOICA in Tanzania. He was captivated by their way of life, and decided to become a farmer himself, in Korea. Eric married Hye-won at a temple in Yongin, Korea. The couple wanted to hold a memorable wedding for their friends and families who came to congratulate them from all over the world. It was a complicated wedding, but everyone came out smiling. Gangneung, surrounded by mountains and the ocean, was a unique city with friendly locals. Eric settled in and became a farmer. Eric enjoys the small joys in life, chatting with his neighbors and helping out on their farms. He also has his hands full raising a 10-month-old daughter. It's been three years since Eric became a farmer, and farming hasn't gotten any easier for him. Last year, he harvested some potatoes in the summer and sweet potatoes in the fall, but he had to give up on the cabbage. He sent out an emergency signal to his farming mentor who lives in Chuknyeongsan Mountain. Eric and Hye-won take off on a trip together to take a break and to help another farmer's fall harvest while picking up some tips along the way. On their trip, they stop by Bodeok Gwaneumsa Temple in Yongin, where they were married, and the Songdam Gotaek, where they had their reception. They also visit Hye-won's parents, who taught them about traveling and farming. Then, they head to Chuknyeongsan Mountain to learn about organic farming from an old mentor. We follow Eric on his autumn family trip to learn more about his life as a Korean farmer.- published: 10 Jan 2014
