Marlon James

Marlon Alex James (born 16 November 1976 in Kingstown) is a retired Vincentian soccer player.

Career

Youth and early Caribbean career

James began his career in his native St. Vincent with the Youth Olympians, and played club soccer for Combined Stars FC and Newwill Hope International FC, eventually turning professional in 2000.

Professional

James began his professional career in Ireland with Bray Wanderers. He transferred to FC Tirsense in the Portuguese Second Division in 2001, and later played for Selangor MK Land FC in Malaysia, scoring 19 league goals in 2004 and 22 goals in 2005. He also played for Selangor FA in 2005 for Sultan Selangor Cup against Singapore FA.

James enjoyed a hugely successful period with Kedah FA in Malaysia between 2006 and 2008. On 8 September 2007, his two goals enabled Kedah FA to clinch the Malaysia Cup title in a 3–0 win over Perak FA at National Stadium Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, and also brought Kedah FA to the highest level in Malaysian football history. James received the 2006/2007 Most Valuable Foreign Player award in the 100Plus-F.A.M National Football Awards after his team won the treble – Malaysian FA Cup, Malaysian Super League, and Malaysia Cup. He scored a total of 40 goals in those 3 competitions. He also retained his Most Valuable Foreign Player award in the next season after helping Kedah FA to win another treble in the 2007/2008 season.

Alex James (musician)

Steven Alexander "Alex" James FRSA (born 21 November 1968) is an English musician and songwriter, as well as a journalist and cheesemaker. Best known as the bassist of the band Blur, he has also played with temporary bands Fat Les, Me Me Me, WigWam and Bad Lieutenant.

Biography

James was born in Boscombe, Bournemouth and attended the state grammar school Bournemouth School for boys, where he started playing in bands. In 1988, James met future bandmate Graham Coxon at Goldsmiths College, where James studied French. Introductions with Coxon's old school friend Damon Albarn and Dave Rowntree soon took place; at the time Albarn and Rowntree were part of a band called Circus. In 1989, James joined Coxon, Albarn and Rowntree's new band, Seymour, which would later be renamed Blur. While he has been in the band ever since, he now describes the experience as "a past-life". Despite this, Blur got together with returning bandmate Graham Coxon to perform at Glastonbury Festival, Hyde Park, Oxegen and T in the Park during the summer of 2009. They also played shows at Goldsmiths College, Essex Museum and other venues around the UK and mainland Europe. Blur headlined a show at Hyde Park for the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony. In 2013, the band performed at the Rock Werchter in Belgium, the Spanish and Portuguese dates of the Primavera Sound Festival, and the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the United States.

Alexander "Alex" James (born 19 October 1976, South London, England) is a British songwriter, best known for his work with Jason Derulo, Adam Lambert, Katharine McPhee, Wanessa, 2008 The X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, and South Korean female pop group Girls' Generation. His first album cut was for Scottish singer-songwriter Darius Danesh, and in 2009 penned American Idol finalist Elliot Yamin's song "This Step Alone" from Yamin's Fight For Love album. He also has songs on albums by Australian singer-songwriter Ricki-Lee Coulter, British pop group Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle, and Charice of the TV show Glee, among others.

His influences include James Taylor, The Smiths, Timbaland, Babyface, and The Killers. James works primarily on piano and keyboard when composing songs, though he also plays guitar. He grew up in South London and lives between Los Angeles and London.
