WGN-TV, virtual channel 9 (digital channel 19), is the CW-affiliated television station in Chicago, Illinois. WGN-TV has been owned and operated by the Tribune Company since its inception, and its studios and offices are located at 2501 W. Bradley Place in the North Center neighborhood of Chicago. The station's transmitter is located atop the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower).

WGN Television is one of several flagship properties owned by the Tribune Company, which also owns radio station WGN (720 AM) and publishes the Chicago Tribune, whose slogan ("World's Greatest Newspaper") was the basis for the call letters used by both stations. The Tribune Company also operates Chicago area cable news channel Chicagoland Television (CLTV), which shares resources from both WGN-TV and the Chicago Tribune.

WGN-TV is also a pioneering superstation, and continues to program an alternate feed for cable and satellite subscribers throughout the United States known as WGN America (formerly Superstation WGN). The "superstation" feed remains unavailable to Comcast, RCN, and WOW! cable subscribers and AT&T U-verse IPTV subscribers in the Chicago area, despite vastly different programming offerings. However, WGN America is available in the Chicago area on the DirecTV and Dish Network satellite services. WGN-TV was not available to DirecTV subscribers from April 1, 2012 through the evening of April 4, 2012 due to a carriage dispute. The dispute was settled less than 24 hours before the Chicago Cubs season opener on April 5, 2012.

Thomas Ethelbert Skilling, III (born February 20, 1952), known on-air as Tom Skilling, is a popular meteorologist in Chicago, Illinois. He is chief meteorologist for the weekday midday, 5 and 9 p.m. newscasts at CW affiliate and national cable superstation WGN-TV (channel 9).

Skilling began his career in broadcasting at age 14, working for WKKD/WLXT-TV (Ch. 60) in Aurora, Illinois while attending school at West Aurora High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison to study meteorology and journalism. After college he worked as a weatherman in Jacksonville, Florida, at WKOW in Madison, Wisconsin and at WITI in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In January 1995, Tom received an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois.

Skilling returned to the Chicago area and began working for WGN-TV Channel 9 in 1978. He is currently WGN's chief meteorologist and is rumored to be the highest paid local broadcast meteorologist in the United States. He also writes the daily weather column in the Chicago Tribune, whose corporate parent, the Tribune Company, owns WGN-TV. His weather broadcasts have always featured the latest technology in computer imagery and animation techniques. He has long been hailed for his in-depth reports and striking accuracy. "Skillful", as his late WGN colleague Bob Collins called him, was consulted for the movie The Weather Man, which was set in Skilling's hometown of Chicago at a fictionalized version of WGN. He also predicted the 2011 Chicago blizzard in January 2 weeks before it hit Chicago.

Harry Caray, born Harry Christopher Carabina (March 1, 1914 – February 18, 1998), was an American baseball broadcaster on radio and television. He covered four Major League Baseball teams, beginning with a long tenure calling the games of the St. Louis Cardinals, then the Oakland Athletics (for one year) and the Chicago White Sox (for eleven years), before ending his career as the announcer for the Chicago Cubs.

Caray was born Harry Christopher Carabina of Italian and Romanian parentage in one of the poorest sections of St. Louis. He was an infant when his father died. His Romanian mother, Daisy Argint, remarried, but after her death when Caray was just eight, he went to live with his aunt Doxie at 1909 LaSalle Street in a tough, working-class section of St. Louis. As a young man, Caray played baseball at the semi-pro level for a short time before auditioning for a radio job at the age of 19. He then spent a few years learning the trade at radio stations in Joliet, Illinois, and Kalamazoo, Michigan. Caray did play-by-play for the St. Louis Hawks professional basketball team (now the Atlanta Hawks) and the University of Missouri football team, and he announced three Cotton Bowl games.

Len Kasper (born January 21, 1971 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan) is a play-by-play announcer for the Chicago Cubs (2005–present), teaming with Bob Brenly on WGN-TV, WCIU-TV, and Comcast SportsNet.

Kasper grew up in Michigan. His broadcasting influence was the Detroit Tigers' legendary broadcaster, Ernie Harwell.

He graduated from Shepherd High School. He graduated summa cum laude from Marquette University with a degree in public relations in 1993.

He and his wife Pam have one son, named Leo.

His previous stints were with the Milwaukee Brewers (1999–2001) and Florida Marlins (2002–2004). Before then, he worked for WTMJ-AM (620) in Milwaukee as the host of the station's daily sports show, hosted pregame and halftime shows for the Green Bay Packers, and was a co-host on a hot stove league show on the Brewers' radio network. He was actually the Cubs' third choice for an announcer behind Dave O'Brien and Matt Vasgersian. Beginning January 2009, Kasper has also become a disc jockey. He hosts a weekly show for one hour, Wednesday evenings at 8:00 on WXRT, an adult album alternative station, where he has often made appearances to discuss Chicago Cubs baseball.

Emily Bear (born August 30, 2001) is a pianist and composer from Rockford, Illinois.

When Bear was two years old, her grandmother recognized her talent at the piano. She began to study with Emilio del Rosario at the Music Institute of Chicago. Within four years, she was enrolled at the Winnetka campus to study classical music. Bear started to compose music at the age of three. By the age of eight, she had composed more than 350 pieces. For her piece Northern Lights, she won the ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Award for composers under 18 years of age. She also won the Rockford Area Music Industry Award (RAMI).

Bear has made six appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, played at the White House for President George W. Bush when she was 6, and performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 with the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra.
