Adaminte Makan Abu (Malayalam: ആദാമിന്റെ മകൻ അബു, Abu, Son of Adam) is a 2011 Indian drama film written, directed and co-produced by Salim Ahamed; it is his debut film. It stars Salim Kumar and Zarina Wahab in the lead roles along with Mukesh, Nedumudi Venu, Kalabhavan Mani, and Suraj Venjarammoodu in other supporting roles. The cinematography was handled by Madhu Ambat, and the film was edited by Vijay Shankar. The film features songs composed by Ramesh Narayan, and the score is by Isaac Thomas Kottukapally.
The film tells the story of a poor attar (a kind of perfume) seller Abu (Salim Kumar) whose only remaining wish in life is the Hajj pilgrimage, which he strives hard to fulfill, and at the verge of the fulfilment, he opts out when he fears that the means is not fully legitimate. Development on the film began roughly a decade before the film was released. The film was shot digitally over one month beginning on 7 November 2010. Thrissur and Kozhikode in Kerala, India were the major filming locales.
Shankar Mahadevan (Tamil: ஷங்கர் மகாதேவன்) is an Indian music composer and singer. He is a part of the Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy trio team that composes for Indian films and a playback singer.
Shankar Mahadevan was born and brought up in Chembur, a suburb of Mumbai, to a Tamil Iyer family from Palakkad, Kerala. He learned Hindustani classical music and Carnatic music in his childhood and started playing the veena at the age of five. He studied under Srinivas Khale, a well known Marathi music composer. He went to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School in Chembur. He subsequently attended SIES College in Sion and completed his HSC. He graduated in 1988 with a degree in Computer Science Engineering from Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology in Navi Mumbai under the auspices of Mumbai University. He worked as a software engineer on Oracle Version Six.
After working for a while for Leading Edge Systems, Shankar ventured into the field of music. He earned his first award as a playback singer in a Tamil movie, collaborating with A. R. Rahman and winning a National Film Award for his song in Kandukondain Kandukondain. A prominent star in the Kodambakkam film industry, he gained further recognition upon the release of his first music album, Breathless, in 1998. The title track of the album had been prepared in such a manner that it is sung without any break, so it appears to be sung in one breath and thus the title "breathless". He later got into music direction and became a part of the Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy trio, composing music for Hindi films.
Salim Kumar (Malayalam: സലിം കുമാര്; born on 10 June 1968) is a National Award-winning Indian film actor and mimic predominantly acting in Malayalam cinema.
Bharath Salim Kumar is one of the prominent comedian actors of the current generation in Malayalam cinema, but has shown his versatility in the drama genre of films, such as Achanurangatha Veedu, Gramophone, Perumazhakkalam and Adaminte Makan Abu. His role as Abu in Adaminte Makan Abu won him both the National Award and Kerala State award for Best Actor for the year 2010. Earlier he had won a Kerala State Film Award for the Second Best Actor in 2005 for his role as Samuel in Achanurangatha Veedu.
He attended the Govt. Lower Primary School,Chittattukara North Paravur and went to high school at the Govt. Boys High School, North Paravur. He completed his Pre-Degree education from Sree Narayana Mangalam College Malyankara,Moothakunnam. He graduated with a BA from Maharajas College, Ernakulam where he won the University title for Mimicry thrice. He started his stage career at Cochin Kalabhavan, and later moved on to Cochin Sagar to further cultivate his skills in mimicry. He was also a performer in Comicola, a hit comedy program on Asianet. For about four years, he was associated with professional drama in Arathi Theatres, Cochin.
Ramesh Narayan (born 3 November 1959) is a Hindustani vocalist from Kerala in south India, and is also an acclaimed film music director. He has given concerts in several parts of his country and abroad. Ramesh Narayan began his initial training in Carnatic music but later mastered the classical Hindustani style under the renowned Pandit Jasraj of Mewati gharana.
Born on 3 November 1959, Shri. Ramesh Narayan hails from a family of Carnatic musicians settled at Kuthuparambu near Kannur, North Kerala. He had his early lessons in music from his parents, learning Carnatic music up to the age of 20. While he was a student at the Music College, Chittoor, Palakkad he was deeply drawn to Hindustani music and decided to dedicate himself to mastering it.
Moving to Pune, he learnt Sitar under the tutelage of Shri. Satchidananda Phadke, a renowned disciple of the Sitar Maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar. Becoming a competent Sitarist in no time, Ramesh Narayan found himself captivated by Hindustani vocal. He joined the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and took his “Visharad” with high distinction. He felt entranced by the passionately evocative style of Parampoojya Guruji, Padma Vibhushan,Sangeeth Martand, Pandit Jasraj and resolved to hone his talent and technique under the Mewati Gharana Maestro. Pandit Jasraj trained him rigorously in the subtler aspects of music in the traditional Gurukula style. Ramesh Narayan has accompanied Guruji at several concerts.
