The effects of a coordinated bond sell off by China and Russia would be earth shattering. This would be the financial equivalent of a nuclear bomb being dropped. It is no exaggeration to say that such a move would mark the end of an era.

You would think that this would prompt some serious reflection and that diplomats would be scrambling to resolve this peacefully, but instead today Obama signed a sanction order anyway and revoked the visas of a number of Russian officials. All of this supposedly in response to the violence in Kiev even though we now have leaked phone conversations that indicate that it was in fact the new coalition government in Ukraine that was responsible for the shootings and that the West knows this. Combine this with the fact that several U.S. officials met directly with known Neo-Nazi leaders prior to the coup in Ukraine and these sanctions are even more non-nonsensical.

Venezuela: Maduro holds talks with opposition leaders

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro held a meeting with leaders of the country\'s anti-government protest movement in the Miraflores Palace in Caracas on Thursday. Dozens of people have died in during violent clashes over the past several weeks, with the latest death of a police officer in the city of Barquisimeto coming only hours before the meeting.

Joining the president were officials from the UNASUR nations of Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador, and the papal nuncio Father Aldo Giordano, who read a message from Pope Francis urging dialogue and an end to violence.

Signals \'consistent\' with black boxes

Search officials say signals consistent with those emitted by data recorders have been detected, but it could take days to confirm their source of origin.

An Australian vessel searching for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane has detected signals consistent with those from aircraft black boxes.

Australian defence vessel Ocean Shield acquired the signal twice, once for more than two hours, Australia said.

An Irish republican dissident has been charged with detonating a bomb in the town on Omagh sixteen years ago that killed 29 people. Seamus Daly, who reportedly carried out the attack for the real IRA, appeared in court in Country Tyrone. The 43-year-old faces a total of 33 charges, including attempts at another bomb attack in Lisburn, County Antrim. No-one has ever been prosecuted for the atrocity although four men, including Daly, were previously told to pay 1.5 million pounds during a landmark civil case. The judge has remanded him in custody over fears he might flee the country after his arrest by officers from Northern Ireland\'s Serious Crime Branch.

Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 Confirm They HAVE Found Signals Consistent With Black Box - 7April Signals 'consistent' with black boxes Search officials say signals consistent with those emitted by data recorders have been detected, but it could take days to confirm their source of origin. An Australian vessel searching for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane has detected signals consistent with those from aircraft black boxes. Australian defence vessel Ocean Shield acquired the signal twice, once for more than two hours, Australia said. Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, who is leading the search, called it the "most promising lead" so far. Watch Hillary Clinton dodge a shoe on stage While speaking in Las Vegas on Thursday, Hillary Clinton had a shoe thrown at her. Hillary Rodham Clinton was ready with a quip after a woman threw a shoe at her as she took the stage for a Las Vegas speech. Security at the Mandalay Bay casino resort ushered out the woman, who is now in federal custody after the incident at the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries meeting. "My goodness, I didn't know that solid waste management was so controversial," Clinton said. "Thank goodness she didn't play softball like I did." Clinton dodged the object, which sailed past her head. Mark Carpenter, a spokesman for the recycling institute, said the woman was not affiliated with the organization nor credentialed for the event. "Our staff denied her access before she later rushed past security," Carpenter said in a statement. "An ISRI staffer then stopped her as she approached the stage. She was then handed over to law enforcement." An Irish republican dissident has been charged with detonating a bomb in the town on Omagh sixteen years ago that killed 29 people. The judge has remanded him in custody over fears he might flee the country after his arrest by officers from Northern Ireland's Serious Crime Branch.
