Sky News Ireland was a programme block on Sky News which broadcast in the Ireland only. The block was a separate feed from the UK version and was broadcast from local offices in Dublin. It was available worldwide on Sky News Active (red button). During this block the UK continued to have the UK version.

Sky News UK & Ireland is now available throughout Ireland.

Launching in May 2004, the channel block consisted of 30 minutes and was broadcast at 19:00h and 22:00h.

They were presented by Gráinne Seoige, news anchor Ray Kennedy and Brian Daly. On 24 October 2005, the 19:00h programme was moved to 18:30h, this put it in direct competition with RTÉ News: Six One.

The bulletin was also available to British viewers via the Sky News Active service (red button) which proved quite popular with Irish audiences in the UK. The channel was seen by European viewers with a DVB-S satellite receiver across Europe. Sky News Ireland was the first Irish news service to be broadcast in widescreen, beating plans by RTÉ News and TV3 News. On 27 December 2005 it was announced that Sky News Ireland's 18:30h bulletin was to be simulcast on Sky1 from 9 January 2006.

Sky News is a 24-hour British and international satellite television news broadcaster with an emphasis on UK and international news stories.

The service places emphasis on rolling news, including the latest breaking news. Sky News also hosts localised versions of the channel in Australia and in New Zealand, as well as their previously operated version in Ireland. Sky News is also offered in an international version without the British adverts under the name Sky News International available in Europe and Asia.

Based at a news centre in London, Sky News started broadcasting on 5 February 1989 as part of the then four-channel Sky Television service. Sky News provides an hourly news radio service to multiple radio networks in the UK and Ireland. The channel currently has seven UK bases each with their own correspondents, and the channel can also call upon a wide range of resources and global bureaux provided by its parent company News Corporation such as reporters from Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network (its sister news and business channels).

Ireland (pronounced [ˈaɪrlənd] ( listen); Irish: Éire [ˈeːɾʲə] ( listen); Ulster Scots: Airlann or Airlan) is an island to the northwest of continental Europe. It is the third-largest island in Europe and the twentieth-largest island on Earth. To its east is the larger island of Great Britain, from which it is separated by the Irish Sea.

Politically, Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland, which covers just under five-sixths of the island, and Northern Ireland, a part of the United Kingdom, which covers the remainder and is located in the northeast of the island. The population of Ireland is approximately 6.4 million. Just under 4.6 million live in the Republic of Ireland and just under 1.8 million live in Northern Ireland.

Relatively low-lying mountains surrounding a central plain epitomise Ireland's geography with several navigable rivers extending inland. The island has lush vegetation, a product of its mild but changeable oceanic climate, which avoids extremes in temperature. Thick woodlands covered the island until the 17th century. Today, it is one of the most deforested areas in Europe. There are twenty-six extant mammal species native to Ireland.

Raymond Kennedy (born 28 July 1951) is an English former football player who won every domestic honour in the game with Arsenal and Liverpool in the 1970s. He played as a both a midfielder and a forward, and scored 109 goals in 498 league games; and also won 17 caps for England, scoring three international goals.

Rejected by Port Vale, he eventually turned professional with Arsenal in 1968. He spent the next six years with the club, helping them to a League and FA Cup Double in 1971. He also won a Fairs Cup medal, and a league and FA Cup runners-up medal before signing for Liverpool for a £180,000 fee in 1974. He spent the next eight years with the club, helping them to five league titles, three European Cup triumphs, as well as trophies in the UEFA Cup, Super Cup, and League Cup, and an additional four Charity Shield victories. During this time he also added a runners-up medal in the league, FA Cup, League Cup, Super Cup, and World Club Championship to his trophy cabinet. Sold on to Swansea for £160,000 in 1982, he added a Welsh Cup winners medal to his collection before moving on to Hartlepool in 1983. He retired from the game in 1984 at the age of 32, having already started to feel the effects of Parkinson's disease.

Dustin the Turkey is an Irish puppet, "television presenter" and star of RTÉ television's The Den since 1989. A turkey with a strong Dublin accent, Dustin is voiced by John Morrison, brother of Ciaran Morrison who was one of the creators of Zig and Zag. Dustin first appeared on The Den with Zig and Zag in 1990, but remained with the show after their 1994 departure to Channel 4. He also outlasted four human co-hosts, all of whom moved to radio, Ian Dempsey, Ray D'Arcy, Damien McCaul and Francis Boylan Jr. Dustin's achievements include a musical career with chart-topping singles. Dustin won the public vote to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Irelande Douze Pointe" but failed to progress past the first semi-final stage. In 2008 he made an appearance on the ITV show The Xtra Factor.

He released his Greatest Hits album in 2001. On 4 November 2005, he released his first new single for 4 years, "Patricia the Stripper", a duet with Chris de Burgh aka Christy Burger. On 11 November 2005, he then released a new album, also his first for 4 years, called Bling When You're Minging.
