When Union's hockey team won the NCAA championship a week ago, this question popped up more than once. Where does the Dutchmen's accomplishment rank on the all-time list of sporting events in the Capital Region?. Union is not the first locally based team to ever win a major Division I championship. RPI's hockey team did it twice, first in 1954 and again in 1985. Is Union's win bigger? We could debate for days or weeks, maybe even years ... ....(size: 9.5Kb)

I noted with interest the other day the awarding of a second Pulitzer Prize for History to former UC Davis Professor Alan Taylor, now at the University of Virginia. It’s hard to win a Pulitzer. I was a finalist once, and I can assure you that winning one in editorial cartooning is a far different pursuit than winning one in history. For example, cartooning is stuff I make up, and historians really frown upon that device ... OK ... Why?....(size: 4.1Kb)

WASHINGTON. Undefeated Shawn Porter stopped former world champion Paulie Malignaggi in the fourth round Saturday to retain his International Boxing Federation welterweight crown.
