Risen Star is a hack for
Golden Sun:
The Lost Age. It features rebalanced classes, new items & psynergies, and increased difficulty. The latest version can be picked up from the following places:

ROM file should be easy enough to find on your own.
Boss fight time with a cute pet
...until it starts kicking your tail hard.
Avimander represents a massive step up in boss difficulty here. It has 3 turns and some rather nasty attacks.
The least threatening move here is
Guard. Yeah, a defensive buff is the least threatening move.
Now, to everything else.
Pyroclasm is always nasty because of that instant death chance, but otherwise won't hit too hard.
It's own unique skill,
Noburu Taika, can hit up to 3 people. It doesn't do a whole lot of damage, but it does have a chance to rip off any buffs you have on those characters.
Next,
Impact. Avimander already has sickengly high attack power and Impact is going to boost that by almost
200 points on its first cast. You can imagine what this is going to mean here.
Heat Stun can hit up to three targets and does crazy damage and can induce paralysis.
Fire Breath can also hit three targets and does even more damage than Heat Stun
I believe.
Star Mine...oh whatever you know what I'm going to say here.
High damage yadda yadda.
Of course, Star Mine's secondary effect? Instantly ends that round of combat. No turns taken for your slowpokes I'm afraid.
That all doesn't compare to the worst skill this critter has.
Counter-Rush.
Yeah, that skill that the ants had in the early game.
Here's why it can go to hell in a handbasket...if it casts it as its 2nd or 3rd skill used that turn, ok no problem.
If it feels like firing it off first though...congrats it gets to take its next two turns right away...BEFORE
Djinn unleashes or anything else, even if you slowed this boss already.
Even better is he'll likely toss a Star Mine on the 3rd turn so you're basically left hurting really badly.
I can't tell you how evil that is to experience. It means you're likely gonna lose at least 2 characters if you're unlucky enough as you won't be able to throw up some kind of protective barrier such as
Shade,
Haze the OP Djinn, or a
Water of
Aleph.
The best thing you can do here is to devote someone to Shade spammage, perhaps another one to spam Haze (even though I think a MT total immunity Djinn unleash is horribly broken and OP and needs to be nerfed somehow).
Waters of Aleph may be needed as well.
As for dealing damage, Avimander's defense thankfully isn't that impressive so you just need to bust out whatever you can muster here given how much you need to keep yourself protected and healed in this fight.
The reward for this fight is a Taika
Ring which can be equipped to Jenna to give her Noburu Taika.
Real nice when you need to get buffs off multiple things in a hurry.
