Dallas 1985. Electrician and sometimes rodeo bull rider Ron Woodroof lives hard, which includes heavy smoking, drinking, drug use (primarily cocaine) and casual sex. He is a stereotypical redneck: racist and homophobic. While in the hospital on a work related injury, the doctors discover and inform him that he is HIV+, and that he will most-likely die within thirty days. Ron is initially in angry denial that he would have a disease that only "faggots" have, but upon quick reflection comes to the realization that the diagnosis is probably true. He begins to read whatever research is available about the disease, which at this time seems to be most effectively treated by the drug AZT. AZT, however, is only in the clinical trials stage within the US. Incredulous that he, as a dying man, cannot pay for any drug which may save or at least prolong his life, he goes searching for it by whatever means possible. It eventually leads him to Mexico and a "Dr." Vass, an American physician whose license was revoked in the US because of his AIDS related work against US regulations. Dr. Vass leads Ron to a cocktail of other drugs, some vitamins, he believes are more effective in treating the symptoms, since the virus, as Ron learns, will always be in the system of those who have been exposed to it. Ron begins to smuggle these drugs not approved by the FDA into the US, not only for his own use but for sale to other HIV+ persons. In this venture, he goes into an unlikely partnership with a HIV+ transvestite named Rayon, who he met in the hospital and who has greater contact with AIDS patients through the gay community. As they try to work both above ground to get the meds to those that need them and underground to avoid detection by especially the FDA, Ron comes up with an idea to circumvent the fact of selling the drugs - which are not considered drugs yet since they are not FDA approved - directly to the HIV+ population, which then should should not be against the law. Richard Barkley and Dr. Sevard, the FDA's lead man on the file and one of Ron's doctors respectively, the latter who sees clinical trials as the only way to determine the efficacy of drugs despite the fact that Ron and others would have probably died already without these drugs, try to stop Ron and Rayon at every turn. Caught in the middle is Dr. Eve Saks, another of Ron's doctors, who understands why policies are place, but who can sympathize with Ron, Rayon and others - all her patients, directly or indirectly - in their situation.

Far back and down an old, empty avenue; lined with the cracked remains of 1930′s gaslight street lamps, sits Painesville's Industrial Rayon Corporation. The cooling towers overlook sections of remaining factory roof tops, while gusts of wind bury themselves into and out of a large section exposed to the elements. As we walked down the crumbling road leading to the entrance, we passed by the former offices and security booth which sat across the lot where former employees would park their vehicles before beginning a day of work. Finally reaching the entrance, we slipped inside to find ourselves surrounded by cracked tile walls, dilapidated ceilings, and a green glow of nature pushing up towards sun rays peaking through areas void of a ceiling. I turned to the right and continued my stroll, while my eyes wandered the foundation crumbling around me. From across the room, I had spotted a doorway, glowing bright with sunlight from inside, and I could see that the room was coated with a bright green chroma. I needed to see this room, so I dropped what I was doing to quickly rush over. Upon my entrance I found myself wrapped into a beautiful forest of nature's own reclamation. Brilliant greens bouncing the bright sunlight to the glossy, tan tiled walls. On the opposite side of this enormous factory, a flutter of birds scatters the space above inside a massive control room, surrounding us with the sound of birdsong layered atop a vast silence gripping the forgotten room. It's almost as if you can see for miles past railings and moss, coating the tiled floor. Moss binds to tiles, as they crumble up the wall in a jagged, displaced manner; as nature wishes, it pushes them off one by one, letting them fall to a collective pile at the walls base. The Painesville rayon plant was built in 1938, just in time to provide reinforcing fabric needed for tires and other automotive products in World War II. The factory cost between $7,500,000 and $10,000,000 to build and had an annual output of about 12,500,000 pounds of rayon, about 1,000,000 pounds greater than the rayon plant in Covington. This synthetic fiber, created from a wood product called viscose, was heralded as "synthetic silk" in early Cleveland Press articles. This fiber was also the world's first of its kind. Even during the depression, the rayon plant provided employment seven days a week due to the large demand for rayon by the textile industry. However, with an increasing production rate, noxious fumes were also thrown into the cities air. This lead to months worth of meetings, chemical, research and public hearings, along with city property damage and health problems from fumes. Through World War II and after, synthetic fibers such as nylon and other polymers provided competition in the market place. Shortly after the war, Industrial Rayon Corporation was purchased by Midland-Ross Co., another Cleveland company supporting the automotive industry. Sometimes I sit and think to myself 'did they ever wonder what their investments would look like to people in the future, or even what would become of it all?' This lead the rain manufacturing division to be known as IRC Fibers, which then became a division of American Cyanamid of New Jersey in 1969 August 6, 1980, the day everyone lost their jobs when plant management announced the closure of their 43-year-old company. Due to a large drop in demand for polyester tire yarn used in tire manufacturing, the 630 acre site was put up for sale, displacing 350 hourly and salaried workers. The Rayon Corporation was the second largest employer in Lake County during the 1950s with 2500 workers.

Aye aye aye..What to write over here. Rayon. Dallas Buyers Club. To begin with, this video was probably the hardest I have ever attempted to make and "edit" in a way. I have only seen Dallas Buyers Club once. Not because I didn't like it,but mostly because it was too much of a "raw" and tough film for me to watch. A few weeks ago, I attended to the premiere here, in my country and I left the cinema hall with an utter shock and admiration. All those months I had seen over the social media, people, journalists,fans etc, talking about this beautiful character named Rayon, that had mesmerized every and single one that had watched the movie. When I finally had the chance to see it myself, I was able to realize what everyone had been preaching and screaming about. You know, "knowing" Jared -and by knowing I mean as an Echelon and a fan- I was expecting him to be magnificent in that role, like he is in everything he does. But I saw no Jared... Not for one moment. He, through this role made me fall in love with a new person, a new character, the amazing Rayon. Throughout this movie, I met Rayon, I saw what a unique spirit and soul she has, her personality, her.. The last thing I could do -and the smallest one- was to create a video about her and what she went through. To be Rayon is not only about being transgender, or about her fight with AIDS. To me Rayon is to show to the world that you and your spirit are here to live no matter what. To me Rayon is the constant hunger for life and love and the constant fight to prove people wrong. Because let's be honest, that's what Rayon was and is about. A ray of sun in this dull world that never gave up and kept glowing and filling people with love and happiness. Matthew can't be overlook either. For that matter of fact I think I was more and more surprised by Matthew than I was for Jared and let me explain why. I knew what Jared was capable of. I knew that his persistence and constant need for perfection would make him create the role of a lifetime, however talking about Matthew I think that you and me and most of the people had the idea of the "romantic-comedies" kind of Matthew, so to see him doing what he did in Dallas Buyers Club was the aspect that made me love this movie even more. Amazing job by both of them on how they created the characters. Definitely my number 1 favorite movie from now on. Lastly, to wrap things up with this oversize, too long of a description when Jared started this journey to make this independent,low budget film I don't think that anyone out there -fans/friend/journalists- could think that he would go that far. Not because he isn't a good or worthy actor -no need to point out what he is,that naked butt guy that he's holding says it all- but because as he had previously said "they don't give awards to people like him". Well,the amount of awards he has received and the endless fore coming and continuous love to this role and to him,only proves that..yes Jared they give awards to people like you. For that matter of fact more people like you should be rewarded for their work. I don't know why I'm writing this or who will bother to read that but it's my way of expressing what's in here. It's my way to say how beyond belief proud I am. And yes I am just a fan,just an Echelon but this moment,his moment was one of the most crucial moments of my life too. He is the kind of person I feel happy to admire and "follow". He is that kind of person that makes you feel right and sure about something in your life. If there's anyone out there in the world that you should look up to is this man. At the end of the day,as you can guess to dream is to concur the whole world and Jared Leto did it. At the end of the day nothing else matters.. I love this man so much.
