Theatre West member and playwright Ray Bradbury was honored this spring with a Special Award from the Pulitzer organization (For details, go to www.pulitzer.org). Now, in celebration, Theatre West is reviving its Pulitzer honoree's comedy "Falling Upward." "Falling Upward" is a Comic Irish Fable, relating the adventures of the regulars at Heeber Finn's pub in County Kilcock, "where ANYTHING can happen!" The boyos field an entry in a sprinting competition, assist the victim of a traffic collision, scheme to gain control of the contents of a celebrated wine cellar, confront a small but somewhat flamboyant band of travelers arriving from Sicily, and generally enjoy the unique fellowship that you'd find in an Irish pub. Featuring Pat Harrington. Limited Engagement! Directed by Tim Byron Owen. Produced by Charlie Mount.

Tim Owen explains us how he was chosen as a victim of various harassment techniques just before his retirement ranging from organized stalking in the street to sabotage of technical installations in his home. Periodically, he is also electronically harassed. He points however out that in comparison with other torture victims of electronic terrorism, this kind of harassment has taken on a milder form in his case. Tim's wish for the future is that these abuses will come to a definite end. He welcomes Melanie's courage for "fighting back" as he says and appreciates EUCACH's and ICAACT's efforts and professionalism.
Tim Owen has participated on this occasion to the free scanning of the public for radio frequency emissions (Phase I of the ICAACT scanning) and was found to emit radio frequencies on various anatomical focus points on his body. These results now need to be verified in a shielded environment (Faraday cage) during Phase III of ICAACT's RF scanning.

Lord Byron
George Gordon Byron (later Noel), 6th Baron Byron, FRS (22 January 1788 – 19 April 1824), commonly known simply as Lord Byron, was an English poet and a leading figure in the Romantic movement. Among Byron's best-known works are the lengthy narrative poems Don Juan and Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, and the short lyric "She Walks in Beauty".
Byron is regarded as one of the greatest British poets, and remains widely read and influential. He travelled widely across Europe, especially in Italy where he lived for seven years. Later in life, Byron joined the Greek War of Independence fighting the Ottoman Empire, for which many Greeks revere him as a national hero. He died one year later at age 36 from a fever contracted while in Missolonghi. Often described as the most flamboyant and notorious of the major Romantics, Byron was both celebrated and castigated in life for his aristocratic excesses, including huge debts, numerous love affairs with men as well as women, rumours of a scandalous liaison with his half-sister, and self-imposed exile.

Kyrie Irving
Kyrie Andrew Irving (born March 23, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Irving was born in Melbourne, Australia, but grew up in West Orange, New Jersey. He played collegiately at Duke University before being selected with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Cavaliers. Since being in the NBA, Irving has achieved a number of accolades including being the 2011–12 NBA Rookie of the Year and the 2014 NBA All-Star game MVP.
Early life
Irving was born on March 23, 1992 in Melbourne, Australia. He is the son of Drederick and Elizabeth Irving, and the step-son of Shetellia Irving. He has an older sister, Asia, and a younger sister, London. His father, Drederick, played college basketball at Boston University alongside Shawn Teague and under coach Rick Pitino. After completing his college career, Irving's father moved to Australia to play professionally for the Bulleen Boomers. Irving lived in the Melbourne suburb of Kew before relocating to the United States when he was two years old. He has dual citizenship in the United States and Australia. Irving's mother, Elizabeth, died from an illness when he was four, so Drederick raised him with the help of Irving's aunts.

Theatre West
Theatre West is a theatre company in Hollywood, California, the oldest continually-operating theatre company in Los Angeles, established in 1962.
Originally conceived as a venue for working professional actors in the film and television industries to exercise their artistic skills in roles and material far different from what they were called upon to do in front of the camera, Theatre West first came together as an informal workshop led by Curt Conway. Among its early members were Joyce Van Patten, Naomi Caryl, Betty Garrett, Charles Aidman, Philip Abbott, Richard Dreyfuss, Jack Nicholson, Lee Meriwether, Martin Landau, Earl Holliman, Harry Dean Stanton, Sally Field, Beau Bridges, Carroll O'Connor, Harold Gould, and Marvin Kaplan. Tim Owen
Timothy Francis "Tim" Owen AM (born 29 October 1955) is a former Australian politician and a former deputy commander of the Australian Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing the electoral district of Newcastle for the Liberal Party of Australia from the 2011 New South Wales state election until 6 August 2014 when he moved to the parliamentary crossbench and sat as an independent after the Independent Commission Against Corruption heard evidence that Owen may have breached electoral funding laws. In May 2014, Owen had announced that he would not contest his seat at the next state election. On 12 August 2014 Owen resigned from parliament triggering the 2014 Newcastle by-election.
Air Force career
Owen served in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), commencing in 1977, and rising to the rank of Air Commodore and deputy commander of the Australian Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. During his career in the RAAF he held various ranks and positions, including:

"Falling Upward" is a Comic Irish Fable, relating the adventures of the regulars at Heeber Finn's pub in County Kilcock, "where ANYTHING can happen!" He points however out that in comparison with other torture victims of electronic terrorism, this kind of harassment has taken on a milder form in his case. Tim's wish for the future is that these abuses will come to a definite end. He welcomes Melanie's courage for "fighting back" as he says and appreciates EUCACH's and ICAACT's efforts and professionalism.
Tim Owen has participated on this occasion to the free scanning of the public for radio frequency emissions (Phase I of the ICAACT scanning) and was found to emit radio frequencies on various anatomical focus points on his body. These results now need to be verified in a shielded environment (Faraday cage) during Phase III of ICAACT's RF scanning.

Minihan & Cox Article: Stitch’nBitch
StitchnBitch groups set out to conquer the technology based ideals of current society, while knitting their way back to their grandmother’s era, chatting with friends. As Wacjman states, less and less women are becoming a part of the engineering and technology fields, leading to an uproar of male dominance all over the world. A new era of women have come about through such groups as StitchnBitch, encapsulating technologies at their own speed/pace in traditional cyberfeminist ways. Minihan & Cox’s article outlines the growing “women-with-attitude” way of living and how this new perspective is present in computer culture. By reclaiming feminine crafts, women are able to become a part of Information Society. StitchnBitch requires members to read and process knitting patterns, a skill that has been linked to the same degree of difficulty as is computer logistics/binary code reading. StitchnBitch is more than just women coming together to discuss patterns and gossip daily (cybercafés, blogs, texting etc), it is a source of individual creativity outside the home and work where women can embrace technologies and crafts concurrently. The latter half of Minihan & Cox’s article focuses on outlining the history of crafts ( 19th and 20th century protests) and what feminine or gendered crafts such as knitting have been associated with in the past, ie. lower class, melancholy, utilitarian function, lowly pursuit etc.
StitchnBitch possesses 5 themes:
-resistance theme: protest movement using crafts as a tool for comments on gender and commodification of society and technology (new Arts and Crafts movement)
-progressive theme; unique cyberfeminist thought of women expressing individual feelings and reflections in their own environments (pubs, blogs, cafes)
-remedial theme: steering away from an individualistic information technology society towards a collective recreation of social connection
-nostalgic theme: romantic return to the past compared to a conquering of the present (crafts have been thought of as the nostalgic response to art)
-Ironic theme: returning to a past that never existed, satirically commenting on the present more than past
Plant Article: The Future Looms Weaving Women and Cybernetics
Plant’s article offers a history of computing that is factual, mythical, and which places women firmly within the stories that a society tells about its culture. The parallels between digital practices and the making of textiles is outlined along with many discussions regarding programming languages. "The weaving of complex designs demands far more than one pair of hands, and textiles production tends to be communal, sociable work allowing plenty of occasion for gossip and chat” (Plant, 1995). This quote encapsulates the main theme intertwined throughout Plant’s article. The link between collective behaviours in order to complete tasks (crafts) while socially communicating with other women providing a solid front against an allegedly male dominated society. StitchnBitch groups set out to conquer the technology based ideals of current society, while knitting their way back to their grandmother’s era, chatting with friends. StitchnBitch is a new social and artistic movement with an alleged rejection of technology, although many aspects of StitchnBitch today seem to be technologically-dependent. The main purpose of this movement/various groups of women is to enable a more connectedness among females while ensuring the wellbeing and intimate relationships of women worldwide.
With the existence of StitchnBitch groups serve as optimism among the suspected gender divide in technology today. As Wacjman states, less and less women are becoming a part of the engineering and technology fields, leading to an uproar of male dominance all over the world. A new era of women have come about through such groups as StitchnBitch, encapsulating technologies at their own speed/pace in traditional cyberfeminist ways. Minihan & Cox’s article outlines the growing “women-with-attitude” way of living and how this new perspective is present in computer culture. By reclaiming feminine crafts, women are able to become a part of Information Society. StitchnBitch requires members to read and process knitting patterns, a skill that has been linked to the same degree of difficulty as is computer logistics/binary code reading. StitchnBitch is more than just women coming together to discuss patterns and gossip daily (cybercafés, blogs, texting etc), it is a source of individual creativity outside the home and work where women can embrace technologies and crafts concurrently. The latter half of Minihan & Cox’s article focuses on outlining the history of crafts ( 19th and 20th century protests) and what feminine or gendered crafts such as knitting have been associated with in the past, ie. lower class, melancholy, utilitarian function, lowly pursuit etc.
StitchnBitch possesses 5 themes:
-resistance theme: protest movement using crafts as a tool for comments on gender and commodification of society and technology (new Arts and Crafts movement)
-progressive theme; unique cyberfeminist thought of women expressing individual feelings and reflections in their own environments (pubs, blogs, cafes)
-remedial theme: steering away from an individualistic information technology society towards a collective recreation of social connection
-nostalgic theme: romantic return to the past compared to a conquering of the present (crafts have been thought of as the nostalgic response to art)
-Ironic theme: returning to a past that never existed, satirically commenting on the present more than past

Plant’s article offers a history of computing that is factual, mythical, and which places women firmly within the stories that a society tells about its culture. The parallels between digital practices and the making of textiles is outlined along with many discussions regarding programming languages. "The weaving of complex designs demands far more than one pair of hands, and textiles production tends to be communal, sociable work allowing plenty of occasion for gossip and chat” (Plant, 1995). This quote encapsulates the main theme intertwined throughout Plant’s article. Before Thomas A. Dorsey was hailed as “the father of black gospel music,” he was a bluesman that composed and performed close to 400 compositions. In addition to becoming a well-accomplished blues pianist who was self-taught as a teenager, Dorsey played under the name Georgia Tom. He would go onto become one of the most prolific gospel deans of the music fusing elements of blues and jazz in his music at the dismay of members of some black congregations. Dorsey’s “Peace In The Valley” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” and “Peace In The Valley” are considered gospel standards and are sung my vocalists and choirs all over the world.
Musician, composer, and educator Don Byron’s current Savoy Jazz release “Love, Peace, and Soul” with his New Gospel Quintet celebrates and investigates the legacy of Thomas A. Dorsey. The Bronx, New York native grew up in the church and has become a staple in jazz as a leading clarinetist and saxophonist. Don over the last 25 years has played a spectrum of music ranging from rock, hip-hop, klezmer, and classical. His critically-acclaimed debut recording “Tuskegee Experiments” was in reference to the Tuskegee syphilis experiment from 1932-1972 in which innocent black residents of Tuskegee, Alabama were used as an experiment without their knowledge.
Don has played with the plethora of artists that include Living Color, Anthony Braxton, Steve Coleman, David Murray, Cassandra Wilson, Bill Frisell, Lalo Schirfrin, and Mandy Patinkin. In addition to him being a well accomplished musician, he’s also been an educator teaching at such fine universities such as M.I.T and The University of New York at Albany.
