HASSELBLAD H4D-40 FERRARI Limited Edition Camera UNBOXING - The Supercar of Cameras
HASSELBLAD H4D-40 FERRARI Limited Edition Camera UNBOXING - The Supercar of Cameras
HASSELBLAD H4D-40 FERRARI Limited Edition Camera UNBOXING - The Supercar of Cameras Photographers debate about which manufacturer builds the best cameras in the world, just as automobile enthusiasts debate about which maker creates the best cars. But there is no debate that the Hasselblad H4D-40 Ferrari Limited Edition digital camera is one of the best brand marriages yet produced in the world of Official Licensed Products by an auto manufacturer. The car has always been a popular subject for photographers. Both stationary and while in motion, an automobile presents a myriad of surfaces, textures, angles and colors for a photographer's eye to explore. A car can look entirely different from a slightly different angle, and putting a car in motion changes the equation entirely. Hasselblad has been a marquee name in photography since its founding in Sweden in 1841, and has been manufacturing cameras since the 1940s. The first consumer Hasselblad, the 1600F, hit the market in 1948. A Hasselblad 500EL/70 went to the moon with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, taking some of the most famous photographs of all time. Hasselblad cameras are the choice of many fashion and portrait photographers, and represent a serious professional commitment to the art of photography. Ferrari shares a similar pedigree in the automotive world. Every current Ferrari is by definition a supercar, at the pinnacle of automotive design, performance and excellence. Ferrari has gotten more selective about licensing its brand recently, seeking out products and brand partners with a profile that more closely parallels its own. There are tons of unofficial products on the market bearing the Ferrari brand, but the officially licensed products display a more consistent, higher level of quality than the unofficial (pirated) products. Which brings us to this spectacular product, the Hasselblad H4D-40 Ferrari Limited Edition. Hasselblad has produced just 499 examples of the camera, which retails for $29,499. The Ferrari H4D wears the Ferrari Red "Rosso Fuoco" color and a dancing horse badge, and comes with an 80mm f 2.8 lens. The camera is packaged in a hand-made glass topped case, and is as gorgeous as a racing trophy. The H4D-40 is considered Hasselblad's midrange camera, with a 40 megapixel sensor that is 33.1 mm by 44.2 mm, about twice as large as the sensor in a full-frame DSLR like the Canon 5D Mark II or Nikon D700. The camera weighs just over 5 lbs. with its lens, batteries and memory card in place — a very manageable, portable size and weight. Interchangeable parts, like lenses and sensor units, are available for the H4D-40 in order to customize it for a photographer's purpose. You can even get one of those waist-level viewfinders, for the ultimate Hasselblad look. A stock H4D-40 with an 80mm lens retails for about $20,000, so the Ferrari H4D represents a significant premium over stock. For the camera collector and Ferrari enthusiast on your Father's Day gift list, the Hasselblad H4D-40 Ferrari Limited Edition might be the ultimate marriage of brands. The viewfinder on the £23,000 H4D-40 angles up, allowing you to shoot from the waist. With a range of 2.8/80mm, the stock lens is a good all-rounder, and is designed to work well in low light conditions hasselblad.com hasselblad ferrari "hasselblad h4d-40" box unboxing luxury expensive vip "limited edition" "special edition" preview exclusive photography camera "dslr camera" showcase lense accessories elite rich "super rich" glamor glamorous official brand supercar wealth wealthy "big boy toy" "for sale" "hasselblad lense" 2013 tech technology gadget camera power class classy fashion geek review special "high end" specs megapixel photographer business u.s. Photophiles will recognise that this is a far cry from some of the gaudy cash-ins that Ferrari insists on producing (£370 for an iPad case, anyone?) but is in fact one of the finest cameras money can buy. Called the H4D-40, it's a 'medium-format' camera, which means it has a much larger sensor than even a high-end SLR: a whopping 40 megapixels. The H4D Ferrari Limited Edition is finished in Ferrari's unique color "rosso fuoco", and bears the legendary Racing Shield. The camera, which comes with an 80mm lens, is presented in an exclusively designed and engineered box with a glass top equally labeled with the distinctive Ferrari Racing Shield. Dual layers, one for the camera, with the lens and accessories housed in a separate lower level, are lined with a soft and rich material. This striking case is housed in a special handmade case and therefore is ideal for both storage and display.- published: 08 Sep 2013
