Got your invitation
Bless your heart, you're good to call
Another night on the town
With everyone around
Doesn't seem that fun at all
Since we're very important
People, we can skip the line
I can do you one better
We'll skip it all together
And the pleasure will be mine
But I'll try to make it
Hope I can make it
Try to make it now
Hope I can make it
You said you would meet me
If I'm halfway interested
I'd be upset if you waited
Frankly, stunned if I made it
I insist you go ahead
I mean to be gracious
But I feel put on the spot
If I'm not acting excited
That I was invited
It's because I'm kinda not
But I'll try to make
Hope I can make it
Try to make it now
Hope I can make it
Notice I'm under
House arrest that's self-imposed
Started to wonder
What we do behind doors when they're closed
Try to make it now
Hope you can make it
Sent an invitation
I left it stuck up on your door
Cause when I need you, you're there
If you come over, I swear
I won't be stuck up anymore
I've come to my senses
I was blind, but now I see
Down go my defenses
I'm begging you to spend your time with me
Try to make it now
Hope you can make it
Try to make it now
Hope you can make it
Try to make it now
Hope you can make it
Try to make it now
Hope you can make it
Blind leading blind
Trying to keep yourself alive
Wrong doing right
Flashing that electric smile
Saying something nice
Like everything will be all right
Running out of time
Trying to keep you occupied
Cause it's all used up
There's nothing left to trust
Yeah it's all used up
You went and used it up
Rolling all five
As everything is cut to size
Rolling all night
Making sure that I got mine
Right before your eyes
Is something you have yet to find
Swallowing your pride
Cause you've got nothing left to hide
Cause it's all used up
There's nothing left to trust
Yeah it's all used up
[Chorus:]
Broken dreams I'll follow mine
To the end of my borrowed time
I've been walking down this road too long
Got my bags packed and I hit the door
Then I make a stop at the liquor store
Cause my will is weak but my whiskey is strong
[Verse 1:]
Yeah, through the fights, drama, and heartbreak yeah the winter is cold
I put my faith in the forgiveness every sinner is owed
Flashback when we was teens just beginning the road
Before the lights, camera, and action and the glittering gold
Before the 'caine spots, before the overdoses and aimed Glocks
Before my name popped, before the Navigator raindrops
Before I started back with the bad habits I can't stop
I said I'd keep going, told you I can't stop
And that's what made me who I am but it did us in
You can never see through the clouds my head is in
I was sick and got addicted to my medicine
I was a prick, I kept on kicking till they let us in
And once they let me in the door it was war
With the world I was sure couldn't go back to before
Ever since we were kids they said we shouldn't mix
And at the end we broke something that we couldn't fix
[Chorus:]
Broken dreams I'll follow mine
To the end of my borrowed time
I've been walking down this road too long
Got my bags packed and I hit the door
Then I make a stop at the liquor store
Cause my will is weak but my whiskey is strong
And it all just slips away
[Verse 2:]
I'm a man among boys that avoid their own truths
Always down to hang out, afraid of their own noose
No phone booth, can't change an ugly face
Tough stand tall then we duck when we gotta chase
Making up excuses but it's all useless
When I blame you for the damage that my youth did
Throwing up the deuces, easier to run away
Knowing that the rain's always followed by a sunny day
But a vaca's just a break from reality
Chasing a fallacy back then you're mad at me
Casually acting like we don't see the elephant
In the room but our friends all see the hell we been through
And we know a truce is irrelevant
Rip my heart out of my body, there's still a skeleton
My skull and bones represent a throne
I'm a stand strong when I move on, holla at me
[Chorus:]
Broken dreams I'll follow mine
To the end of my borrowed time
I've been walking down this road too long
Got my bags packed and I hit the door
Then I make a stop at the liquor store
Cause my will is weak but my whiskey is strong
And it all just slips away
[Verse 3:]
I used to have nothing at all but my word and my balls
It's the same thing that took me from nothing dog
All around the globe till they asked what the fuck is wrong
What's wrong is everything is real in these fucking songs
Sometimes I was it was an image to hop out of
And back into, maybe a gimmick to rock crowds with
But it's all the truth and it's something I'm not proud of
Everything I've done but I can't just opt out of
The pain I have caused, the 'caine, the chopped powder
The blame belongs to me, this game is not ours though
Maybe from the dirt then the flowers grow
Up amongst the weeds since a youngster greed
Agreed with every need that I need and so the speed
Will eventually just not be fast enough for me
It's kind of crazy, once upon a time I was just my momma's baby
Look at how this ice cold winter when it made me
When it when it gave me icy cold demeanour?, meaner
Wifey throws me out, I love her, I need her
What else can I do except go drink another liter?
I'm not a follower, I've always been a leader
I wish I had some inspirational speech to read you
But I don't, I'm just a failure
Worshipped like I'm Jesus by some but look at this cross I'm nailed to
[Chorus:]
Broken dreams I'll follow mine
To the end of my borrowed time
I've been walking down this road too long
Got my bags packed and I hit the door
Then I make a stop at the liquor store
Cause my will is weak but my whiskey is strong

Living through my music like Pac did
Give a little gap in my loophole
Rubys triple like boy orange juice jones ?
Know matter the what im from the block

So watch what you say instead of saying what you watch
Im committed to bringing the unprecedented
But I wont spit it if it aint a lesson and it
(Don't Stop)
Getting sick of the bickering from my peers and such
Bringing the shit to keep your ears in touch
(Chorus)
(Anthony Hamilton)
We don't have to stop
keep the this thing moving till the speakers pop
Aint got time to talk
Coming for the honeys cant keep um off
It’s whatever we want
Pay us back what you know you owe
we got the right to keep it funky
[Verse 1]:
I'm so crazy(Yeah!) They claim that I'm deranged and demented Some people say that Tuna's insane with my sentence I came with intentions Spit game with a vengeance My brain off them binges Cuz it came off the hinges My frame is tremendous I'm strange with my interests I came rather lifted, and my names rather different On the deck is your record, we came here to switch it Claiming that you rip it, but we came and eclipsed it And while the world gets desperate and hectic I'm restless steppin out on my quest for some next shit People label me eccentric, eclectic, immensely respected But convinced he's a head trip No matter in the flesh or some guest shit Never second guess that we the best you can mess with But even though I done perfected the big shit I'm one sandwich short of a picnic, redic'lis
{Chorus] Im so crazy You see Im so crazy Sick, insane crazy, driving these ladies Out they fuckin mind, now I got mine im Shwayze Im so crazy You see Im so crazy Yeah, I drop science like girls be droppin babies Enough to make a brother go crazy
[Verse 2]; Concentration altered Designer cannabis tastin awkward Got my mind in a place exhausted Got no tongue I can taste or talk with So I got to replace my thoughts with that raw shit Diagnostic checks reveal I've been blessed with impressive skill A neck with gills, and sex-appeal One of the best in the flesh for real Like a lucrative investment deal Keepin' it fresh while the rest should kneal But soon as you think your vessel is special All the issues and potential threats can depress you Certain events meant to test you, can push you To a point Where no one can rescue or reach you So try to never let the pressure defeat you Losing your mental faculties ultimately depletes you But some of us can make it seem seamless But then word insanity can really mean genius
{Chorus] Im so crazy Ha! You see Im so crazy Sick, insane, crazy, driving these ladies Out they fuckin mind, now I got mine im Shwayze Im so crazy Yeah, You see Im so crazy Yeah, I drop science like girls be droppin babies Cuz, Im so crazy
[Verse 3] They claimin that my brain is imprisoned Some people say that Tuna's insane with my vision They blaim my decision to remain on a mission Its plain that they couldn't stand the flames in the kitchen My aim and intention refrain from division avoid demons swerving in my lane in collision This is not a game, never shame when I glisten Full of fire likes its higher octane in my engine Listen while the world is filled with pointless nonsense My response is to stimulate your subconscious Off your rocker? Well listen to my conference Keepin' you from going bonkers, and stop conflict Seldom seen cuz im on some James Bond shit In fact not the one that you can act nonchalant with But even though I done perfected the big shit I'm one sandwich short of a picnic, redic'lis
Paint Graff Time, C'mon
Yeah, I need to face it man I'm addicted to the sound of the ball when I shake the can I'mma let my man Stan patrol while I exercise can control It's Graff Time, C'mon
Yeah, I need to face it man I'm addicted to the sound of the ball when I shake the can I'mma let my man Stan patrol while I exercise can control It's Graff Time, Yo
My main thing was to paint to gain fame not duely and aimed, and beautifly stained plain trains and walls the same thing incredible styles we maintained devoured cowards and we made 'em change names addicted I truly became to this wicked unruly insane sub-culture where painters became kings. So make room cause I came to create doom on flat surfaces till I faint from paint fumes, Yep! When security at the track look wretchedly fallable wack put pictures in black books sketchers and catchers set up the graff spots with murals depict the struggles of the have-nots runnin' tunnels and hot spots to be the only one we rustle, we be fright on and rust slowly and I'ma earner so slowly done fifteen, skill up a bliff clean messages in graffiti, no fuckin' writer can see me at all!
Hey, I need to face it man I'm addicted to the sound of the ball when I shake the can. I'mma let my man Stan patrol, while I exercise can control. It's Graff Time, C'mon.
Yeah, I need to face it man I'm addicted to the sound of the ball when I shake the can. I'mma let my man Stan patrol, while I exercise can control. It's Graff Time, Yo!
Liquid hip-hop in my vein hop in the train since the sixth grade I have not been the same whether playin' ball or rhymin' in the hall or just writing my name in graffiti on the wall, yahh...
(Everything you paint will fade or fall off the wall or debuff, or get dissed, or gone over) (So it's like, you know, the walls are living and breathing) (That rush, that rush is amazing. Knowing that you're standing out there alone...) (surrounded by an entire world that most likely disapproves of what you're doing)
Yo, I counted my cans as I awaited by chance I perpetrated my plans with ink and paint on my hands celebrated by fans of the vandross war trends who march in the dark so the dark start chargin' taggin your name and the clan you claim on everything and your parents don't understand your pain how beautifully tamed sceneries and special tips disperse the paint evenly thirst just ain't leavin' me, yet!
Time stops when graffiti bombs drop cleverly cop a key to the intercom box beginners is gon' watch and veterans lay spray peace to lee fab, futura and k-slay, today!
Hey, I need to face it man I'm addicted to the sound of the ball when I shake the can. I'mma let my man Stan patrol, while I exercise can control. It's Graff Time, C'mon.
[Intro]
Step your game up Step your game up
[Verse 1]
Well it's the late great fish again From the great state underneath Lake Michigan Keep us safe just in case cake's missing And I speak frigid anytime I think jake's listening Okay first and foremost Make my purse burst as I put thirst before jokes Won't feel the rumours I try to ignore folks Immature blokes whose whole cloaks a pure hoax Shifty eyes, the fish be wise Risky lies can lead you to a quick demise Get your arms wrapped up like some twisty ties Haters are sick from witnessing how quick we rise Yup my momma told me to resolve my picture ? Or everything around me will dissolve and dissipate Yeah, never earning is a fast disaster And foolish is the student who don't surpass the master
[Chorus]
The reason that you have to step your game up Put in work, make them notice your rep then came up More than feeble attempts to gain bucks If you shooting for your dreams too low then aim up
Step your game up Heavy push, make them know that your rep done came up Try to build up your name, remain tough Grind till your brain busts and step your game up
[Verse 2]
Keep it funky long as I can like imagine Making each record that I do better than the last one Inside the passion I try to make it happen So I don't have to wear a ski mask and blast guns The first son will leave your area hurt When I'm in America they raise the terror alert Scary when I leave you bury your dirt Caters of clarity is making sure your stereo work, very alert Like that y'all, got you switching your choice Should we hit you with a hook, you change the pitch in your voice Intricate with every step, we make you slippery with moist And my constituents will get to the point ripping the joint But uh over the bass and the treble clef Hot like we hit you in the face with the devil's breath But just in case that the level slips Never fret, just pick up the pace like we never left
[Chorus]
That's why you gotta just step your game up Put in work, make them notice your rep that came up More than feeble attempts to gain bucks If you shooting for your dreams too low then aim up
Step your game up Heavy push, make them know that your rep done came up Try to build up your name, remain tough Grind till your brain busts and step your game up
[Interlude]
On the grind
[Verse 3]
Yo clash ? cause a black Columbine Contract nullifying print stack dollar signs Gotta push cause a lot of cats out of time Holla back ? dime ? The day that this rap became a weapon Is the day that I was tuned to adapt to gain acceptance The poorest people make scratch by any method If he desperate he can pull out the strap to send a message
[Chorus]
(comin' through today)
Welcome to terrordome...
I'm your host the friendly neighborhood baritone
Vocals channel the spirits of old poets
I don't drink my glass never behold Moet
Similar to barroom[? ] is Dunbar
From the crew you thought was just all chorus and one
star... now
I'm one-sixth of a clique that bumps shit
While commercial counterparts speak of constant
conflict I'm...
(comin' through today)
Alot of details
Oh my body be scales[? ]
I'm from Ida B. Wells
People see I'll and good times just like eleven
With a really deep militant mind like Michael Evans
Every posse recline watch me get applause
Forming reservoirs on your desert shores
Your witnessing mental and verbal fitness friend
Tuna fish that descended from Lake Michigan
[Chorus]
All day when I say
I'm much more than just some backpack crap
Intelligent rap act or militant black cat... I'm
Killin' venemous platinum plaque rats
I'm forever spittin' relevent facts and that's that
And how you play the game
Is how the game plays you, way true
Haters is wild style like phase two[? ]
Touring without rest and blessed
My skull's laced with time
Taking your place then pass metal detections... yes
Instant vintage, deep in the trenches
Every sisters[? ] can leave speakers defenseless
Peeking through fences and speaking bleaker like
Memphis
Peaking your interest with heat-seeking intentions
[Chorus]
(comin' through today)
I'm from the city where they
Buried Al Capone and house music was born
Robert Kelly performed and heavy styles was shown
I made hidra[? ] and settled miles from home
Coast to coast LA from Chicago
Whether your gospel your spittin' is really gospel
The kid that kicked with Matt[? ]
Apocalyptic rap, I can't[? ] come to grips but that's
that
Your learnin' why the turntable turnin'
People should know me more than for
Just the verbal Herman... Munster, what?
[The righteous way to go/ Little one would know/ Or believe if I told him so/ The righteous way to go/ Little one would know/ Or believe if I told him so/
[Verse 1] Through fights with mom/ And long nights you're gone/ Through all types of wrong/ I love my pops/ Through penitentiary/ Drug addiction and misery/ You defeated the enemy/ I love my pops/ Twenty some odd years/ Wiping my little sister's tears/ She missed dad, but where was my pops?/ To proud to tell us he was running from his demons/ And we're thinking that nothing could ever budge my pops/ But I used to wonder/ What put my moms under/ My pops and kept 'em together for seventeen summers/ I reminisce in my mind/ Me and my pops would find/ The time we spent it never seemed funner/ But I remember the day that he left/ Him and my mama they never nurtured their relationship/ And it went from Bonnie and Clyde/ To problems with money and pride/ Together they couldn't decide/
[Chorus] The righteous way to go/ Little one would know/ Or believe if I told him so/ The righteous way to go/ Little one would know/ Or believe if I told him so/
[Verse 2] Through parental separation/ And miscommunication/ I love my mama more than I love myself/ Along with grandmamma they played my two parents/ So you know I love them more than I love myself/ In and out of prison for stealing/ Illegally making a living/ But she taught me how to love myself/ Pops wasn't there to teach me 'bout the man inside/ I had to learn who he was myself/ I was the man of the house/ So my younger siblings looked up to me as the father that they never had/ Resentful of the fact/ My sister would talk smack/ And call him sperm donor, but never call him dad/ It's sad I know it gets lonely for my only brother/ 'Cause him and his father never really got to know each other/ And those days I vowed for sure/ If I ever had a child I would chose/
[Chorus] The righteous way to go/ Little one would know/ Or believe if I told him so/ The righteous way to go/ Little one would know/ Or believe if I told him so/
[Verse 3] I became a parent at the age of twenty-one/ With no doubts or questions/ 'Cause I love my son/ I fell for a woman same name as my mama/ Maintained heavy drama/ But I love my son/ Eleven years of love, lies and fears/ Closed our eyes and ears/ But because my son/ Had nothing to do with the reason we would fight for days/ We kept it together to raise my son/ In the beginning we would ditch school to see each other/ She quit school and ran away so we could be together/ Before I got paid for working my tongue/ The greatest moment that we shared was the birth of our son/ Another eight years passed til the day that I left/ And why's that? We never nurtured our relationship/ And it went bust and die/ 'Cause of problems with trust and pride/ Together we couldn't decide/
[Chali 2na]
Lock shit DOWN!
[Chorus]
We came to just do this for you
Sit back and just watch us bubble
We come with more heat than the sun do
Gorillas out of the concrete jungle
We came to just do this for you
Sit back and just watch us bubble
Gorillas out of the concrete jungle
We come with more heat -- lock shit DOWN!
[Chali 2na]
Yeah, of all secrets I'm the best kept
Making sure my first step is my best step
I watched my investments while the rest slept
and changed tools like the faders on the vest tecs
Yes, I'm a mile under the floor
with a swisha full of kush and a towel under the door
You remember me as the tallest one of the four
Every time you come and check out your boy he -- lock
shit DOWN!
Yeah, hot like the tip of a blowtorch
Deliver a show horse with little or no force
This heavy but low voice making ladies go moist
Don't front, people killed off the joint, there's no
choice
Huh, I'm running my mouthpiece
and I outreach to the power of devout speech
While you shall beef, screaming from your couch seat
We about heat and we come to -- lock shit DOWN!
[Chorus]
[Chali 2na]
Yeah, second half of a double header
Tool of a trouble setter, here to make it bubble better
Brontosaurus bass sick as Barney Rubble's sweater
and I'm blowing like the coldest winter, Chicago
weather
Hey, while you sweeter than plain cinnamon
My lyric venom in your vein, now your brain
haemorrhaging
If you think that I'm insane, I'm a plain citizen
People call me by my name, I remain disciplined
Hey, a wicked sentence in a vicious blend
has more wealth than the wallets of the richest men
It's interesting, pay attention to what you witnessing
The love of the art form, not just a dividence
Yeah, all eyes on B
But please don't put them rumours and them lies on me
Cause I'm just clown to come with the fat sound
Chali 2na, Talib, and we come to -- lock shit DOWN!
[Talib Kweli]
In the concrete jungle, a wild animal
My stomach growling like Lions, it's understandable
Rappers will run right up on you and try to battle you
Quicker than a Cheetah run up on a Caribou
What up 2na? The Blacksmith is back with
the backflip flow and got the survival tactics
We crack it open like the seal on a package
Came with a message, we must retain the freshness
You lame and you plain depressing
Is this what the game is left with?
It's on homie, name the weapons
Soon as Mister International step in
You rapping irresponsible, irrational death wish
Get ready, I got enough, lyrics I be stocking up
In all suspense boy, you better lock it up
Is it live or what? We came to rock it now
Treat it like it's out of pocket -- lock shit DOWN!

Verse 1 (Shai Linne)
I gotta say this, God is gracious
That's not just a doctrine statement, but my heartfelt proclamation
Of a God who saves men without obligation
From sin's domination and the bonds of Satan
Nobody sins in moderation
That's obvious from our evil thoughts to our conversation
We were dead, we needed more than an operation
We had to be brought out the grave and made alive, awakened
It's quite amazing how in salvation
Each person of the Trinity contributes like a compilation
The Father elected me, Jesus bled for me
And regeneration is the Holy Spirit's confirmation
So we repent of our abominations
Consecration to the God who's exalted above the constellations
The observation of the congregation is
God is gracious with a lot of patience, so we gotta praise Him!
Chorus
We'll forever praise His mercy and grace
Praise the Lord for His mercy and grace
His mercy and grace
And Christ took the curse in our place
Praise the Lord for His mercy and grace (repeat)
Verse 2 (Shai Linne)
When I speak of God's mercy, I'm speaking of His tendency
To tenderly express empathy towards His enemies
Whether it be mentally or outright obscenity
We effectively deserve hell for our enmity
Adam left a legacy of sin, since we share in his pedigree
We therefore share in his destiny
If God didn't intervene, we'd all perish eventually
In His great mercy, He gave us the remedy
Christ lived sinlessly, then He paid the penalty
His assassination was public like John Kennedy
Rose on the third day, exalted to the heavenlies
Repent and see your sins will be deleted from His memory
Gain a new identity, eternal serenity
Now it's clear we should "volunteer" like Tennessee
To spread His fame endlessly, the message is essentially
A merciful God sent His Son to set sinners free!
Chorus
Verse 3 (Timothy Brindle)
In mercy, Christ saw our wretched condition
But instead of giving us death for our sinning
In grace, His blood paid the debt that's infinite
Now resurrected with Christ and blessed because we're in Him
Mercy: Christ turned the Father's anger
Grace: Christ earned us all His favor
And since Christ kept the precepts of the law
Because of His perfection, we're accepted by God!
Real righteousness He gladly gives us
The Father happily lavishes this
Instead of filthy rags, our Dad's forgiveness
The ultimate story of rags to riches!
His grace displayed in saving the worst men
Behold, God's riches of grace are a Person (Jesus)
Christ, the fountain abounding in His grace
Over my foul sin and mountains of mistakes
In pleasure He's immeasurably gracious
Now we're seated with Jesus in the heavenly places
Plus His Spirit's the strength that will change Tim
He daily gives the grace of sanctification
Forever we'll praise the I Am
Who gave us grace in the Lamb before the ages began
So Shai, with that, resume the chorus
Because of the cross, all His attributes are for us!
Chorus
Refrain
Shai: Yo Tim, that was a bangin' verse, b
Tim: Nah, remember, I'm a sinner saved by mercy
Shai: What's mercy?
Tim: It's not getting what we deserve
Because Christ already suffered the judgment and curse
But Shai, yo, you blazed it ace!
Shai: Praise God, I'm just a sinner saved by grace
Tim: Well, define grace
Shai: Our redemption price immense
Who is like him? there is none
Triune, holy three-in-one
When all is said and done
God is amazing, amazing
His power cannot be compared
Exhaustive knowledge none can share
At all times everywhere
God is amazing, amazing yeah
Verse 1- omnipotence (giano)
Unlimited, infinite, universal,
Self-evident, this prince is the newest purple
Reigns suspended in glistening beauty circles
Uninhibited, through his spirit a new reversal
No rehearsal - yeah, it's a paradox
But god's omnipotence isn't hidden behind a mega-rock
That he couldn't lift; these critics better stop
New internal physics exhibits he made the petawatt
The sun's energy, atoms within a laser
Adam needed an angle, jesus became the center plot
Now that could be geometrically or cinema
Descartes or demille, emphasis on the "metaphah"
Or metaphor. you get the picture
But consider the depiction of this power, is it fiction?
Does it take prophetic vision, or religion to envision?
Philosophical spiggity speculative admission?
Nah, he's god anyway, we'll never break
His code to regenerate, then create, in the face
Of death, in comprehensive grace. meditate
Venerate this deity speaking degrees centigrade
Now that's cold ain't it, better than joe namath
God delivers on his promise, you can quote jacob
Omni-potence, omni-benevolence
Power, preeminence, bow to his excellence!
Who can fathom his understandin' that fastened the sun to vanish
And fashioned the other planets, imagine it from his vantage
Inhabitants under famines, havin' a stomach famished
He's not missin', if it's happenin' it was managed
With god's vision; his non-endin' cognition
Called omniscience, is harassin' the under-handed
(how?) he sees into the plight - a view of each conscience
And reads into the mind, perusing each thought, when
Even dudes that lie, then move to keep cautious
Heed to ruthless crimes they do, then he hearkens
Peekin' through the blinds of fools in departments
Where evildoers hide in gloom and deep darkness
He knows the future, we see the point is certain since
All things happen by his pre-appointed purposes
Even on the earth was his knowledge so impassable
We see jesus knowin' both the possible and actual
Whether boastin' in sin or holdin' it in
He'll expose in the end because hearts are open to him
This theme's addressed in god's word
Observe proverbs 15: 11
Though he knows innocence, the vast and the minutia
He chose an affliction that evidenced true love
Witness omniscience - wrath fell on his true son
Being crushed for sins, past, present and future
Question: who is the real treasure and worth?
Answer: the lord, who fills heaven and earth
God in his essence
Is infinite, transcendent, unlimited exhibited in omnipresence
All things before his eyes are laid bare
As he governs the earth and skies with great care
There's not one sector or section
That's undetected or left unaffected by his perfection
So i don't even need to smell the marijuana stench
To know my god is deeper than the mariana trench
The calculation is 36, 000 feet
Below sea level- about 7 miles deep
If you got to the bottom without imploding from the weight
God would be waiting there saying, "yo man, you're late"
In the farthest galaxies, my god has the glory
Because distance for god is a non-category
Amazingly, god is able to be
In haiti and greece, jamaica and sweden
Barbados, new zealand, lithuania, egypt,
Malaysia, tunisia and the arabian sea simultaneously!
Before him everything is naked and exposed
That means there will be no escaping for his foes
God's presence in his wrath will torment the sinner in hell
But those who trust christ- with them he will dwell
Glory to God - God alone - Sole' - De'o - Gloria - Here we go!
If you've tasted and seen - then you know what I mean, He's
Good (carry)
In His nature is love everything that he does, He's
Good
Even when it gets tough yes the Lord is enough, He's
Good
Yes God makes it plain through the Lamb that was slain, He's
Good
The world is not subtle, why should we be subliminal?
When it comes to goodness, our God is at the pinnacle
If God is approving it, then it's good that's the principle
Humanity is minimal, the Lord is the original
Fountain of benevolence, boundless in measurement
Abounding in blessedness, there's mountains of evidence
Found in the Testaments, resounding these sentiments
We drown in His benefits, from town to the settlements
His goodness expressed in the natural and physical
From rocks and minerals, to toxic chemicals
Stop being cynical, not trying to be traditional
But God is good, all the time - no intervals
While doubters and pessimists, cloud what He represents
He smiles on the penitent, endowed us with residence
Now that we may commence, we shout without hesitance
Crown with excellency, now and forever friends
If you've tasted and seen - then you know what I mean, He's
Good (carry)
In His nature is love everything that he does, He's
Good
Even when it gets tough yes the Lord is enough, He's
Good
Yes God makes it plain through the Lamb that was slain, He's
Good
Understand that God is good apart from anything He's done for me
Yet still His goodness has blessed me abundantly
I'll try to give a summary, beginning with His love for me
In sending Christ to die yes the blood of Jesus covers me
Our years, He can make em new
Our fears He's awakened to
He hears when we're praying and He's there when we our payments due
His Spirit enables you, to fear Him and praise Him through
The tears we can say is true He's near when we're breaking through
Whether we are suffering our living in luxury
His works toward His people are all done lovingly
They're never done stubbornly, or with a hint of drudgery
Every single sunrise - provides a new discovery
It's clear what He came to do, see us like Isaiah knew
He'd appear as a baby who, was reared as a faithful Jew
And pierced for our shady crew, appeared in the painters view
So here's what we're meant to do revere Him cause praise is due
If you've tasted and seen - then you know what I mean, He's
Good (carry)
In His nature is love everything that he does, He's
Good
Even when it gets tough yes the Lord is enough, He's
Good
Yes God makes it plain through the Lamb that was slain, He's
Good
Heed this and listen, the keys in the ignition
The goodness of God can be seen in His provision
In each of His decisions, his leaving the inscription
That it's needless and grievous just to keep Him in derision
It's cool to know that His goodness never changes immutable
It's true when we can't explain this He's inscrutable
And we are not delusional, these facts are indisputable
I know it sounds unusual, I'll show you how it's provable
Adam & Eve had freedom with one restriction
Satan deceived them - from Eden received conviction -
To leave us in the queezy condition with sleazy addictions
But Jesus' afflictions, free those believing His risen
God's got the seen of the cross, irrefutable
On His gospel truth we will stand immovable
And glorify God for His goodness, it's suitable
Just cause it's a duty? No, just because He's beautiful
If you've tasted and seen - then you know what I mean, He's
Good (carry)
In His nature is love everything that he does, He's
Good
Even when it gets tough yes the Lord is enough, He's
Good
Yes God makes it plain through the Lamb that was slain, He's
Good
If you've tasted and seen - then you know what I mean, He's
Good (carry)
In His nature is love everything that he does, He's
Good
Even when it gets tough yes the Lord is enough, He's
Good
Yes God makes it plain through the Lamb that was slain, He's
Our God is in the heavens
He does whatever He pleases!
The Sovereign LORD, Great I am recognize the name!
He's always on top of His game, a Lion that simply cannot be tamed
And no, He is not restrained at all- nobody can stop His reign
So why do the nations rage and all of the peoples plot in vain?
Their sin and offense is against His excellence and they're not ashamed
As though He's lacking the power to shackle them now in the hottest flames
And so they cock and aim- the target? His cosmic reign
That's like a kid with a super soaker trying to conquer Spain!
Man thinks he's a pugilist, trying to ball up his puny fist
At the LORD, who is ruling this
What's amusing is God just laughs, like "Who is this"?
Stupid kids who persist in foolishness
It's only by God's power you exist
Now you declare war on the LORD
When before you were born, He formed you in the uterus?
Look- Our God is in the heavens and He does all that He pleases
He's established His King in Zion and His name is Jesus!
Our God is in the heavens
He does whatever He pleases!
Our God is up in the heavens and the seat at His right hand
That's given to rule and reign is where Jesus the Christ lands
And He sits preeminent, He originates the right stance
Impossible for Him to fail, no there's not even a slight chance
Constructor and Conductor, leaving the men amazed and saying
"What manner of man is this that even the winds and waves obey Him?"
From His purpose of election, and to birth, to our perfection
He has ordained it and He decrees and works by His direction
He never will suffer defeat, He's precisely the Truth and the Life and the
So even when He died, they never took His life but He gave His life away
To see when they crucified Him, nobody had imagined it
Not only was a part of the plan to save but the climax of it
He's gonna get glory, we're created to be His instruments
His reign's inexhaustible- His rule is truly infinite
Our God is in the heavens
He does whatever He pleases!
The perfections of God are not affected at all by human opinion
Everything in the universe is under His control and His rule and dominion
And there's nothing in the world that could ever could come to pass at last
Unless He first decreed it
If we dive in His word we can read it, see all of His purposes completed
And as hard as it seems, the heart of the king is a stream of water in His
Hands
With discernment you'll see God turns it where He's determined according to
His plans
You gotta get a focused lens to truly understand where His control extends
(Everywhere)
And I know that this offends, but the truth is the grossest sins serve His
Ultimate ends
You might not hear it from your favorite pastor
But He made the wicked for the day of disaster
Sinners unacquainted with the way of the Master
We have to explain what is plain in the chapters
He's sovereign over creation and sovereign over salvation
Including reprobation, regeneration
I wouldn't want to say this if it wasn't based in His revelation
It's kind of stunning, men ignore His throne, the creature's lost it
The time is coming when the Lord alone will be exalted
Our God is in the heavens
Verse 1
God's wrath is a perfection for which He should be adored
A passion for this message: yes it needs to be restored
He has holy reflexes towards the evil He abhors
Cats who don't respect Him will receive His lethal sword
The mass prefers the pleasures that sin easily affords
Our blasphemous affections are the reason we're at war
We should be in awe, His sweetness should keep us floored
Sin's radical infection is the reason we get bored
Repeatedly we snore, He's frequently ignored
We explore evil lusts leaving us greedy for more
The Master's recollection of our evil He records
We have zero protection because He is keeping score
It's bad for every section, there's no passing His inspection
Because we're lacking the perfection that we need to be secure
Everlasting dissection: the unbeliever's reward
Disaster for rejection of the truth- Jesus is Lord!
Chorus
God is an all-consuming fire
Burning away all false desires soon
He's gonna burn it away, the holy furnace will blaze
Eternal the days, Somebody come on
They're longing for mountains and rocks to be falling
Please don't refuse the One who's calling you
He's calling you, He's warning you
Whatcha gonna do? Somebody come on
Verse 2
The Lord is speaking through His prophecies and all of His commands
Unequaled in His qualities, He's awesome and He's grand
He's regal and His policies are gloriously planed
He's peeping the idolatry that's all over the land
How people in society ignore the Son of Man
By seeking their autonomy, they are caught in a trance
But He will put a stop to the evil and apostasy,
The devious hypocrisy, the fallenness of man
We're teaching you theology so y'all can understand
According His plans: the slaughter of the damned
Unspeakable reality to fall into His hands
No sequels, it's finality and awful is the span
No weeping or apologies, no sneakiness or bribery
Will keep the Lord from honoring His law and its demands
We're pieces of His pottery- He causes us to stand
His people see Him properly- exalted is the Lamb!
Chorus
Verse 3
In the Bible, God's wrath- we see it openly explained
So mindful of its gravity, this poetry is plain
A frightful catastrophe, His foes will be in pain
Stifled, their anatomy and souls will be sustained
Recycled supernaturally and locally contained
The spiteful would be glad to see God's potency restrained
Noticeably profane, they're supposed to be ashamed
They joke like it's a game, they're woefully deranged
Maniacal, they're actually opposed to Jesus' reign
His rightful mastery of the whole of His domain
Not tribal, but massively and globally ordained
He died to make us happily devoted to His fame
His rivals with their strategies, the prideful with their apathy
Their idols and their blasphemies will only see the flames
Denial of His majesty is totally insane
The title of His masterpiece is "Holy is His name"!
Chorus
Refrain
God's wrath is coming, God's wrath is coming!
Christ is coming on the clouds, see the crowds running!
God's wrath is coming, God's wrath is coming!
Behold the Lamb in His might and the sight is stunning!
God's wrath is coming, God's wrath is coming!
All the wicked will be punished at the final judgment!
God's wrath is coming, God's wrath is coming!
Who is God? God is the universe's Creator
And Sustainer plus the only Savior, there is no one greater
He triune, holy, omnipotent, omniscient, absolute
Loving, sovereign and righteous are a few of His attributes
How do we know this? Well, we know this from the Bible
Where God has revealed Himself- anything else is just an idol
What's the Bible about? Man's complete ruin in sin
And what God has done in Christ to bring us to Him again
What is sin? Sin is the breaking of God's law
Plus our condition, which means from birth we all got flaws
What's the result? The result is by nature we're God's enemies
And must pay the penalty unless God provides the remedy
What the remedy? The remedy is the cross of Christ
Where He suffered all the strikes for the lawless type
I've been rescued by the Lamb, I'm convinced that He's risen
And blessed is the man whose sins are forgiven!
Just fall back, and with the eyes of faith
Behold the beauty of surprising grace
Because the Lamb has died, third day He had to rise
He's magnified- God's wrath is satisfied
Just fall back- there's an atonement now
The cross of Christ is holy ground
Because the Lamb has died, third day He had to rise
He's magnified- God's wrath is satisfied
Regeneration- the Holy Spirit's true work in His love
To the elect, who receive new birth from above
Expiation- expiation means God's removed my filthiness
The old testament type was the goat into the wilderness
Redemption- we've been freed from slavery to sin
And His very own blood is the price He paid, my friend
Propitiation- Propitiation means since the Lamb has died
His work is finished- God's wrath is satisfied
Adoption- adoption means God is now my Father
I got the hottest Poppa and by the Spirit holler Abba
Reconciliation means there's no more enmity
God is now a friend to me, we're no longer enemies
Justification- God declares us righteous
Sanctification- we're being made into His likeness
Glorification- that's what happens at the finish
When God conforms believers perfectly to Christ's image!
Just fall back, and with the eyes of faith
Behold the beauty of surprising grace
Because the Lamb has died, third day He had to rise
He's magnified- God's wrath is satisfied
God's grace is magnificent, He slayed His innocent
Son- through faith and repentance we get the benefits
What is faith? Faith is a gift from God- when we receive this
We trust and treasure the person and finished work of Jesus
Repentance? Repentance is turning from your sin
And trusting Christ as the Spirit cleanses you within
What is grace? Oh, grace is unmerited favor
Our inheritance major 'cause we cherish the Savior
Right, and if I may quote again, we were doomed with Satan
But believers get Jesus' righteousness through imputation
Imputation? God takes Jesus' righteousness amount
Through faith He credits it into the Christian's account
Anything else? Well, I guess this overview must suffice
But none of this is possible apart from union with Christ
And finally, once you know the ways of the Lord than the
Only thing that you can say is Soli Deo Gloria!
Just fall back, and with the eyes of faith
Behold the beauty of surprising grace
Because the Lamb has died, third day He had to rise
Verse 1
Ok, let's begin- let your mind roam
Our scene takes place inside of a home
The husband has just walked up the staircase
He glares into space with despair on his face
His soul is on fire, inside there's a war
That can't be denied, He stands outside the door
On the other side, His bride and her lover
Oblivious to the fact their lie has been discovered
So as they embrace and try to make haste
They have no idea what's about to take place
Gun in hand, he longs to understand
What would lead his wife into the arms of another man?
He thinks back to the day they made their vows
Before God, before the minister and the crowds
Exchange of the rings, the joy of the reception
Now a tainted memory destroyed by deception
He had been faithful to her
Now the fire of his desire got him ready to do something hateful to her
He never thought his wife would be just a faker
And that her lust would make her a covenant breaker
The promise of fidelity they made was glorious
But now His jealousy has made him furious
And they can't see the danger
No screams or pleas they make could ever ease the pain or appease his anger
He kicks open the door- they jump out of the bed
"Don't move!" is all he said, gun pointed at his head
The screams of his wife as she clutches the covers close
Her lover spoke to plead for his life
The husband says to the guy- "Look me in my eye
My face will be the last thing you see before you die"
The husband cried inside- his love was bona fide
Trouble for the bride- double homicide
Chorus
How quickly we are to break the vows we made
As our unbelief leads our hearts astray
How long before He turns His face away?
We belong to the Jealous One
We belong to the Jealous One
Whose blood bought us back, whose victory won
Our worship and praise to Him belong
The Jealous One
Verse 2
The God of the Bible who invites our trust
Must be understood to be nothing like us
Most of the time, human jealousy will hurt you
But when comes to God, His jealousy is a virtue
One of His awesome perfections surely
Thunders His law and protects His glory
He gave us the gift of the marriage relationship
To acquaint us with a faint taste of this
A wife for her husband or husband for wife
The only time jealousy is right in this life
But just as the distance is great between earth and stars
God's thoughts are much higher than ours
So His jealousy is on a whole other level
Unintelligible to the soul of a rebel
But in sacred Scripture, God paints the picture
The aim: to shake your frame- it straight convicts ya
And that's what it should do
God's jealousy is frightful, yet it's delightful and good, too
I couldn't think of much worse if I tried
Than a dude who smirks if you flirt with His bride
So tell me, what kind of God would He be
If He wasn't bothered to see idolatry?
Is God just supposed to laugh and withhold His wrath
When He's replaced by a golden calf?
You say, I don't worship a golden calf!
Well for us, it's self and sex and loads of cash
Atrocious paths, we still don't know the half
Of how these things provoke His holy wrath
So we stand in awe and wonder how come
God took His jealous anger out on His Son
So all those trust Him can see like we're supposed to see
And be forgiven for our spiritual adultery!
I'm not ashamed of the gospel, y'all
It's the power of God that can save us all
In the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed
And who lives by faith? The righteous will!
Awake from your slumber, rise! A letter from the wise
The book of Romans- the Christian faith summarized
By Paul, a bondservant of Christ Jesus
Called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel
Chapter 1: 16-17 is the thesis
Because our sins are colossal, hearts are harder than fossils
That's everybody's plight; cant' solve it- goodnight!
How do sinners get right in a Holy God's sight?
Amazing is the answer, see- Romans states it candidly
The first three chapters- God's case against humanity
Whether it's idolatry or religious hypocrisy
No one can possibly see the charges and say "It's not for me"
Everybody's guilty, everybody's filthy
Before God on judgment day is where everybody will be
For those who believe in Jesus who suffered and died
"It feels so good to be justified"
I'm not ashamed of the gospel, y'all
It's the power of God that can save us all
In the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed
And who lives by faith? The righteous will!
At the cross the wrath of God was spent on Jesus
On behalf of all who repent and believe this
We receive His perfect righteousness
In exchange, believers cursed lives are His
Behold the blessedness for earth's cold residents
Chapter 4- Paul defends it from the Old Testament
Up to this point, we saw the need for justification
In chapter 5 and following, we see it's implications
In service and purity, we yearn for maturity
Empowered by Christ, who gives eternal security
Slowly but surely, He removes every vice
Raised to newness of life through our union with Christ
But chapter 7 finds us struggling with sin
It's buggin' us within but He loves us to the end
Even with complications through sin's occupation
For God's consecrated there's no condemnation
The Holy Spirit inside, He comforts like no other
He convinces us we're God's children even when we suffer
Nothing in creation could ever separate us
From the love of God in Christ Jesus who saved us
In chapter 9 we see God is sovereign in His mercy
His dealings with Israel shows He's working out His purposes
By the end of 11 it's Jew and Gentile together
United in Christ to His glory forever!
I'm not ashamed of the gospel, y'all
It's the power of God that can save us all
In the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed
And who lives by faith? The righteous will!
So in view of God's mercies
We remove our worldly uniforms and throw on crucified jerseys
Holy and acceptable, ruled by the divine
Being transformed by renewal of the mind
Yeshua's design- obedience to the Scriptures
With love as the key ingredient in the mixture
The godly man's picture under the new covenant
Mindful of God, we submit to the goverment
Not passing judgment on weaker brothers
Instead we spread love to them to keep them from stumbling
When we do this, God will truly then smile
As Christ is glorified through jew and gentile
And the God of peace at His judgment seat
Will soon crush Satan under our feet!
Now this is just an overview- go and read Romans through
You running hard for the King?
I know that's right!
Is Jesus your everything?
I know that's right!
Did He really make all things new?
No doubt!
By His grace, whatcha gonna do?
Work it out!
She's not your typical girl
Sixteen years old and she's dead to the world
Faith by her lifestyle demonstrated
Because the gospel penetrated and now she's regenerated
Her Master is greater than fashions and flavors
She patterns her behavior after the Savior
Back in the days you would have seen her standing in the mirror
Yeah, her skin was clear, but her vanity was clearer
Now she's in the Scriptures and wants to be like
Hannah and Sarah rather than Christina Aguilera
Wordly girls imitate Missy Elliot
But she wants to be like Elisabeth Eliot
Not flexing her body, see she dresses with modesty
She's not perfect- she confesses sin honestly
Christ crucified! That's her permanent shout
And by the grace of the Lord, she's working it out
You running hard for the King?
I know that's right!
Is Jesus your everything?
I know that's right!
Did He really make all things new?
No doubt!
By His grace, whatcha gonna do?
Work it out!
She's not your normal wife
She's twenty-four and Christ is the Lord of her life
Her walk is evidence that she trusts in God
And it feels so good to be justified
And no, she doesn't have a Master's in Divinity
But what she does have is a passion for the Trinity
When she recalls her previous prodigal seasons
And how at times she could be the loudest of heathens
She praises God for making this former feminist
Submit to her husband for theological reasons
Worldly wives watch Oprah to learn to be a lady
But she's reading the writings of Carolyn Mahaney
And she would never disrespect her husband in public
And if she does it, she repents- I love it!
She's not your usual mother
{ahem} years old and she's true to the lover
Of her soul, she beholds the cross where He copped it
Once was agnostic, now she's adopted
Her passion grows greater as she beholds him
Job title: homemaker/ theologian
Early in her walk, she would fight against His will then
The Lord used her marriage and the Bible to reveal sin
Now she fights to kill sin and her greatest joy is
Serving her husband as she's discipling her children
While worldly mothers stress shopping for the new style
She's pouring into younger women Titus 2 style
Teaching others how to rightly see brothers and be mothers
And most of all better Jesus lovers
Christ crucified! That's her permanent shout
And by the grace of the Lord, she's working it out
You running hard for the King?
I know that's right!
Is Jesus your everything?
I know that's right!
Did He really make all things new?
No doubt!
By His grace, whatcha gonna do?
Work it out!
Work it out!
Work it out!
We'll start right now His name is Mike Brown
Born in Detroit but raised in Chi-Town
See, Mike was bright but Mike liked to fight
From night to night, all types Mike would strike down
No PG at 13 Mike was R-rated
By 14 behind bars incarcerated
Released at 15- straight path no-brainer
Parole officer hooked him up with a trainer
Trainer was a Christian father figure and
Taught him discipline- turned him into a junior Olympian
No doubt with the hand skills Mike was nice
But God rocked him and Mike gave his life to Christ
The congregation is waiting for the next reply
Preacher said, "Son stand up and testify"
The very next words that you heard coming through the speaker
"I used to be a thug, but now I'm a believer!"
If you repented of your sins- Testify
If you're trusting in Jesus- Testify
If you believe in His death, burial and resurrection
Testify (say what?) Testify
If you're saved by grace- Testify
If you're seeking God's face- Testify
If you know that you were put here to glorify God
Testify (say what?) Testify
Story number two about a girl named Sue
Raised in the 'burbs not far from Saint Lou
Sue's intelligence was prodigious, she wasn't religious
In fact she thought Christians were all superstitious
She thought their arguments were inconsistent
Didn't find them convincing- full paid scholarship to Princeton
Freshman year she had a roommate named Kristen
In God's providence, Kristen was a Christian
She gave Sue a copy of Mere Christianity
Through reading it, Sue got convicted of her vanity
When she discovered the love of Christian sisters and brothers
For each other is when the Lord grabbed a hold of her
The congregation is waiting for the next reply
Preacher said, "Sis stand up and testify"
Sue said "Jesus made this heathen new
Wanna know my testimony read Ephesians 2!"
If you repented of your sins- Testify
If you're trusting in Jesus- Testify
If you believe in His death, burial and resurrection
Testify (say what?) Testify
If you're saved by grace- Testify
If you're seeking God's face- Testify
If you know that you were put here to glorify God
Testify (say what?) Testify
Story number three, we'll call her Cece
Raised in Maryland, not far from D.C.
She's got a lot to cherish, thanks God she's not embarrassed
About her parents because they had a rock solid marriage
Father straight loved her, gave like no other
Raised with her brother by a stay at home mother
Her life always had the true God in the mix
Because her parents understood Deuteronomy 6
She was raised in the fear of the Lord
Amazing grace appeared and she was saved at the mere age of four
A true clear conviction, the old is replaced
She's a fruit-bearing Christian who's growing in grace
The congregation is waiting for the next reply
Preacher said, "Sis stand up and testify"
Cece said, "I ain't got no horror story
God saved me in my youth I give Him all the glory!"
If you repented of your sins- Testify
If you're trusting in Jesus- Testify
If you believe in His death, burial and resurrection
Testify (say what?) Testify
If you're saved by grace- Testify
If you're seeking God's face- Testify
If you know that you were put here to glorify God
It interesting what emcees go out of their way to mention All day on the radio- sin without flinching Some have a penchant for dissention or perhaps some invention On how they fared at the latest player's convention Intention might as well be salvation prevention Soul food cooking up in hell's kitchen- smell the stench and Then you got the neo-soul poetry slam pretention Quote-unquote "conscious" emcees speak on lynchings In the next sentence brag about how they got the game clinched and Thug cats chronicle ghetto tension All of this is just the physical extension of the spiritual dimension
But now we're talking 'bout redemption 'Cause nothing's more important than the state of your soul Not the way that you roll or the weight that you hold The "cake" that you sold will make you go straight to the hole Awaiting parole- now tell me who's taking control We're breaking the mold for real, not your typical youth Dropping Biblical truth with analytical proof
So one for the purity, two for the unity Three for the faith and four for humility I get up on the mic and speak on man's inability To come to God on his own and cats ain't feelin' me Man cheated on God like Bill did to Hilary And got the nerve to beef when He breaks out heavy artillery? The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and viciousness Of hypocrites who suppress the truth in wickedness Since what may be known about God is plain to them Because He made it plain to them in their craniums You can't look at nature and not see God's glory His infinite being manifested in His story From the farthest reaches of the universe Back to earth which has in fact been cursed Because of sinful man trying to make mockery Of God's grace with lying, hate and debauchery Greed, jealousy, strife, evil All types of people live life that's illegal They're senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless Intense, this opaqueness and darkness- no excuses We glamorize sin and slander wise men Analyze the ten commandments- any surprise then? God hates these things and He's not budging If you live like this, how will you escape God's judgment? Somebody said, "But wait, I'm a good person, ughh... I'm not a murderer, perjurer or burglar" Consider the standard by which you measure your goodness don't flatter Yourself- for real, only one opinion matters That's God's and He says that no one is good Whether priest or common hood, far east to Hollywood Doesn't make a difference- what will it take for you to listen to me? God has spoken and this is the decree:

Let me make this plain kids- God is the greatest
He never changes- His ways are blameless
For His own glory and at different stages
He raises up servants to make His name famous
I'll highlight one particular servant for
The purpose of encouraging your worship to the Lord
Furthermore, Charles Haddon Spurgeon was born
On the outskirts of London- 1834
His dad and his grandpa were both in the ministry
His mother was praying for his soul since his infancy
Naturally intelligent, rapidly developing
But lacking Jesus' fellowship, that would be irrelevant
The God of his mother unknown
Though Christ was up in his home, the faith just wasn't his own
The Lord answered prayer when at the age of 10
Young Charles became convinced of the wages of sin
For the next five years, the Spirit brought conviction
Terrors and affliction, aware of his condition
One Sunday morning though- the stormiest snow
Kept Charles from going in the church he'd normally go
Randomly stepped into a church
Heard the words "Look to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth"
And though only heaven knows the name of the preacher
That's the day that Spurgeon became a believer
The Lord is so merciful, always so purposeful
Those whom He draws find His call irreversible
Immediately after Spurgeon's conversion
Obediently, he was earnest to serve Him
The Lord poured His Spirit on Spurgeon abundantly
Anyone could see that he spoke with profundity
Extraordinary giftedness seen
Proclaiming God's mysteries at the age of fifteen
In a place called Waterbeach graced with the sort of speech
That even made the old folks say, "This boy can preach!"
In fact he was so crafted after the Master
A Baptist church snatched him and asked him to pastor
At the time, He was seventeen years old
On fire for the King who redeemed his soul
People flocked from everywhere- it was quite a scene
Called to a church in London at the age of nineteen
He was more than ready- to his Lord he was dedicated
Even though he was never formally educated
If you would have scratched him, he would bleed Bible
A rich prayer life was his means of survival
Amount that he read was truly mind-blowing
Steeped in the writings of dudes like John Owen
And by God's grace He fed the sheep new manna
In London met his wife, her name was Susannah
Behold the grace of God- stand to the side
The Spirit exalting the Lamb who has died
It can't be denied- this man we describe
Was simply a tool in the hand of his God
To observe this servant's extremely instructive
One word about Spurgeon is he was productive
Preached Jesus- no speakers- loudly he'd shout it
Each week packed houses of crowds in the thousands
His sermons were published- sixty-two volumes
He worked almost like he just knew he would die soon
Made mad disciples, passed on his knowledge
Established a school to train pastors in college
Sold out to the Lord Jehovah, his portion
Also he built two homes for the orphans
A monthly magazine, plus he wasn't too busy
To write books- about a hundred and fifty
God's grace in Spurgeon was manifest
But remember, the best man is a man at best
Yes, he struggled with depression- consistently sick, kid
Both he and Susannah physically afflicted
He experienced as a servant of Jesus
The power of God made perfect in weakness
Later on comes complications
His stands for orthodoxy got him shunned by his denomination
But through all the hardship and all the controversy
He never stopped relying on the sovereign God of mercy
And when he had finished pressing towards the goal
He entered into heaven at the age of fifty-seven
His life is a case of God's grace effectively
At work in sinners to leave a great legacy
The proof is many years later in your speakers
There's commotion in my brain, strange is the notion
Words cannot explain my range of emotion
I'm speechless, my flaws exposed and my weakness
Each breath draws me closer to a deep test
It's month number seven, it's been ten days
I've been awake all night reflecting on my ways
A threat to my peace in this greatest of moments
Because I'm the High Priest and it's the Day of Atonement
The LORD is so holy and perfect, I'm nervous
I'm floored that He chose me to worship through service
Don't ask me why the God who crafted the sky
Drafted this weak guy from the clan of Levi
Preceding generation taught me to read the regulations
Deep meditation on decreed revelation
Extreme trepidation breeds hesitation
Yet I must lead and be the representation
My occupation- to intercede for the nation
But indeed my own sins need expiation
The wrath of Jehovah's grim, sin is no joke to Him
The hope is slim for unholy men coming close to Him
He's spoken in His Word the proper way of approach to Him
Nadab and Abihu got it wrong and He roasted them
These things I weigh as I sigh
This could either be the greatest day of my life or the day that I die!
So you say that you wanna know the LORD?
Do you really wanna stand before the LORD?
Do you know what it takes to meet the LORD?
God is an all-consuming fire
So you say that you wanna know the LORD
Do you really wanna stand before the LORD?
Do you know what it takes to meet the LORD?
Be careful what you desire
For now, no time to focus on my sinning
I bathe in the laver though it seems extreme
I put on the holy coat made of white linen
Craving His favor- I'm ceremonially clean
I check to inspect- no tangible faltering
Next I must collect the animals for the offering
A spotless ram and a bull- the components
God gives to make atonement for my own sins
This part of the ritual makes me real cautious
Because the very sight of blood makes me feel nauseous
Still I proceed by snatching him close, slashing his throat
When his blood splashed on my coat
Reacting, I choke- gasping that's when I'm grasping
God's reaction that sin provokes
I take a moment to reflect on the blood spilled in this
Staring at the goat to be sent into the wilderness
I'll confess Israel's sins with my hands on his head
Symbolizing guilt transferred instead
To a substitute the living God provided and stamped
Guilty of our sin, driven outside the camp
This beautiful picture of hope and grace motivates
And I don't want my fear to make this dope occasion go to waste
Change my outer garments, slow my pace- yo I brace
Myself to stand before Jehovah's face in the Holy Place
So you say that you wanna know the LORD?
Do you really wanna stand before the LORD?
Do you know what it takes to meet the LORD?
God is an all-consuming fire
So you say that you wanna know the LORD
Do you really wanna stand before the LORD?
Do you know what it takes to meet the LORD?
Be careful what you desire
The time has come, the great moment has arrived
About to enter in- what a lonely enterprise
Look at the other priests, they speak only with their eyes
Rope tied around my ankle just in case I don't survive
I enter through the first curtain to a dark room
I'm standing in the Holy Place, my thoughts consumed
I'm caught off guard, I'm unraveling at this stage
My heartbeat so hard it's rattling my ribcage
Feeling like I'm disintegrating and I can't stand
Comforted by the light emanating from the lampstand
This helps my vision- I can see the showbread
I think of God's provision, that helps me go ahead
I need courage to worship! Man, this is intense
I take burning coals off the altar for the incense
The sweet aroma fills the room
The smoke protects my eyes- one sight of Jehovah seals my doom
It's no mere coincidence I'm here surrendering
With fear and trembling I'm nearly entering
I feel like running scared, hoping I'm not unprepared
Stunned with fear- no one comes in here but once a year
Nevertheless I'm at the point of no return
Besides, I don't want my anointing to be spurned
After counting to three, next time I inhale
I'm in the Holy of Holies beyond the veil!
The first thing I realize is I'm thrilled that I've
Entered into God's presence and yet I'm still alive
I'm awestruck by the weight of His terrible beauty
It's almost unbearable but I must fulfill my duty
Approach the ark, the first part of my work's complete
When I sprinkle blood seven times on the mercy seat
Quickly I exit, impressed with the Hesed
(Chorus 1)
Elvis is dead, Picasso is dead
Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin are dead
Marilyn Monroe is dead- however...
Jesus is Alive
Brando is dead, James Brown is dead
Princess Di and John Lennon are dead
Biggie and Pac are dead- however
Jesus is Alive
Verse 1
Give praise to King Jesus, the blessed Son
Victorious, glorious resurrected One
To Him belongs the power, glory and honor
Ascended where He sits at the right hand of the Father
At the cross He made atonement- His people He saved
After three days He was raised in defeat of the grave
By faith the elect behold Him, His scepter is golden
He must have been hot or slippery because death couldn't hold Him
The spotlight is on today's icons
In a thousand years, nobody will care- their light's gone
But at that time, Christ will still shine bright
He's not in the limelight- He IS the limelight
Criminal minded, you've been blinded
Looking for the body of Jesus? You won't find it
We never lack spirit, letting you cats hear it
Because His tomb is empty like most secular rap lyrics
(Chorus 2)
Plato is dead, Socrates is dead
Aristotle and Immanuel Kant are dead
Neitzsche and Darwin are dead- however
Jesus is Alive
Buddha is dead, Mohammed is dead
Ghandi and Haile Selassie are dead
Elijah Mohammed is dead- however
Jesus is Alive
Verse 2
Throughout history there's been mad religious leaders
Prophets, preachers, scholars, teachers
But when it came to the grave, no one could climb out
That's where Jesus stands alone like taking a ‘timeout'
And don't be mislead- I got a level head
No resurrection, Christianity would have never spread
The disciples weren't stupid guys who would ruin their lives
And then choose to die for what they knew was a lie
That would be beyond ridiculous- Nah, the issue is
The risen Christ seen by 500 eye-witnesses
Imagine 500 people in a court of law
Each of them taking the stand reporting what they saw
If their stories lined up and made sense
The evidence would have to leave you convinced
But still it's by faith that we trust and praise the Son
Who was raised for our justification
(Chorus 3)
Nero is dead, Constantine is dead
Genghis Khan and Attila the Hun are dead
Alexander the Great is dead- however
Jesus is Alive
Napoleon is dead, Lao Tzu is dead
Che Guevara and Henry VIII are dead
Saddam Hussein is dead- however
Jesus is Alive
Verse 3
Through faith in Christ, we've been saved from hell
Because He's risen, it means we'll be raised as well
In glorified bodies fit for the new earth
For now, we participate in the new birth
The universal reality of the true church
With resurrection power, watch the Spirit do work!
United with Christ, we reside in His light
Abide in His might, keep in stride as we fight
The pride in our life, the lies and the spite
We strive to be wise as He guides through the night
He'll chide and He'll slice- recognize that He's right
His brightness inside lights our eyes and it's tight
(He) decided to die to wash white all our strife
His life was the price to delight in His wife
He told death “sike” just to rise like a kite
All eyes on the Christ- let's prize Him tonight
(Chorus 4)
Pharaoh is dead, Cyrus is dead
Darius and Sennacharib are dead
Nebuchadnezzar is dead- however
Jesus is Alive
Caesar is dead, Herod is dead
Annas, Caiaphas and Judas are dead
Pontius Pilate is dead- however
Wake Up, You're Alive
One night a while ago I had a crazy dream
That shady beings were probing my mind with a laser beam
The pain was high octane, ten times the intensity of a migraine
Enough to drive somebody insane
My physical frame was paralyzed- the floor was sanitized
The instruments they used were sterilized- but the terror lies
In the fact that the metallic walls were covered with many eyes
That watched as they probed my insides and analyzed
They weren't aliens because their faces were invisible
More like chameleons with a nature that was mystical
Completely irresistible mind control
Trying to mold my will to theirs and redesign my soul
Slicing me up like cold cuts- I was broke up
If I could I would've spoke up but they had me yoked up
And then I woke up- choked up- my spine and bones were tingling
Awakened from a nightmare to find my phone was ringing
All of a sudden I heard a thunderous roar
He busted through the door before my feet hit the floor
No time to stay patient- with great haste I raced
And slipped when I tripped over my Play station
My green bean bag broke my fall
As I groped for the wall, behind me I could sense His open jaws
The smell of his breath was hot sulfur- not kosher
I yelled as he crept and got closer
Knocked over a vase, no space to race with him
Shocked over his pace, I was face to face with him
Envisioning my imminent homicide, dismemberment
Collision with impenitence personified with grim intent
A sinister smile, a foul grimace
Particular style of a menace, the image was vile
I was too subdued to struggle, woozy from the tussle
Wanted to choose to hustle but I couldn't move a muscle
I was hurting, I thought I was a goner for certain
Then I looked and saw the sunlight through the corner of my curtain
At this point, I thought he would devour for sure
But he just stood over me for a half an hour or more
As the morning flooded the bedroom I could see a little better
But his face was still obscured by a black hooded sweater
Just then, it must have been an illustrious gust of wind
That thrust him into the room's other end
My physical felt rejuvenated
I opened the door, the whole house illuminated
By the sunlight, my chance to bounce- I hesitated
Because something just wasn't adding up- it resonated
Dedicated to go back and get some better data
Feeling heavy weighted- yet it was like I levitated
Over to the corpse, my thoughts had escalated
I took off his hood and I was devastated
So now let me state it: what could it be?
The dead villain in the corner of my room? It was me!
I fell back surprised, cried, lost all my drive
Looked over at my clock it said 6: 55
As I tried to make sense of what I'd just survived
You know, when I consider my life before my encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, it's almost like it was a dream and this is the reality. What's funny is that from the outside looking in, my life was clean. I mean, I was a pretty good dude. I wasn't a thug. I was respectful to adults, intelligent, etc. My life looked pretty sanitized. But the reality is that I was bound by my sin. I was a slave. It's like it says in Titus 3: 3-
"For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another."
Verse 1
Here's a controversial subject that tends to divide
For years it's had Christians lining up on both sides
By God's grace, I'll address this without pride
The question concerns those for whom Christ died
Was He trying to save everybody worldwide?
Was He trying to make the entire world His Bride?
Does man's unbelief keep the Savior's hands tied?
Biblically, each of these must be denied
It's true, Jesus gave up His life for His Bride
But His Bride is the elect, to whom His death is applied
If on judgment day, you see that you can't hide
And because of your sin, God's wrath on you abides
And hell is the place you eternally reside
That means your wrath from God hasn't been satisfied
But we believe His mission was accomplished when He died
But how the cross relates to those in hell?
Well, they be saying:
Lord knows He tried
Verse 2
Father, Son and Spirit: three and yet one
Working as a unit to get things done
Our salvation began in eternity past
God certainly has to bring all His purpose to pass
A triune, eternal bond no one could ever sever
When it comes to the church, peep how they work together
The Father foreknew first, the Son came to earth
To die- the Holy Spirit gives the new birth
The Father elects them, the Son pays their debt and protects them
The Spirit is the One who resurrects them
The Father chooses them, the Son gets bruised for them
The Spirit renews them and produces fruit in them
Everybody's not elect, the Father decides
And it's only the elect in whom the Spirit resides
The Father and the Spirit- completely unified
But when it comes to Christ and those in hell?
Well, they be saying:
Lord knows He tried
Verse 3
My third and final verse- here's the situation
Just a couple more things for your consideration
If saving everybody was why Christ came in history
With so many in hell, we'd have to say He failed miserably
So many think He only came to make it possible
Let's follow this solution to a conclusion that's logical
What about those who were already in the grave?
The Old Testament wicked- condemned as depraved
Did He die for them? C'mon, behave
But worst of all, you're saying the cross by itself doesn't save
That we must do something to give the cross its power
That means, at the end of the day, the glory's ours
That man-centered thinking is not recommended
The cross will save all for whom it was intended
Because for the elect, God's wrath was satisfied
But still, when it comes to those in hell
Well, they be saying:
Shaking my fist at the heavens- my lifetime pastime
But now no more natural light shines- flat line
Just as I was dissing his name
I'm hit with the flames as my soul left my physical frame
Frightened, my senses heightened
Defenseless against this relentless lightning
A stampede of thunder claps, I can't breathe
It's like I'm running laps with my lung collapsed
I can't leave- I'm stuck and trapped
Meanwhile, I am no longer senile
The life I lived in the body- that feels like the dream now
And I've awakened to a real life nightmare
It's quite clear- no use putting up a fight here
My destiny is sealed; a true catastrophe
With future agonies that have yet to be revealed
And that thought alone is such a blow to me- it's terrible
Because what I'm feeling right now is totally unbearable
I'm disembodied, met my worst feat mentally
Every second like a year, every year a century
No one that I can call, I'm crushed under a wall
Of holy fury, amazed by the justice of it all
Getting what I deserve, in fact my soul is burning black
I've crossed over the threshold- never to be saved
Eternal is the furnace and it ain't no turning back
Oh God, just let me send my fam a letter from the grave!
My conscience is killing me
Like a worm that never dies
Like a worm that never dies
Scene 2
To my parent, my sisters, my cousins, my nieces
Friend, co-workers- everybody needs to read this
You probably thinking I'm in heaven smiling down upon you
But that's not true- I'm writing this now to warn you
I'm serious- wish I could put a gun to your face
Whatever it takes to make you listen- don't come to this place
I made tons of mistakes when I was there with y'all certainly
The worst by far was not preparing for eternity
It's crazy- I don't even know how to tell y'all
But I'm in hell, y'all
And I know it's upsetting to hear- it's upsetting to be here
But I write so you'd get it and see clear
I don't have all the answers- I grope for more
But there are a couple of things that I know for sure
Re-incarnation is a lie- there's no such thing as Satan- lie
Getting to heaven through meditation- that's a lie
Homicidal I feel, but it's vital we build
Your pride will be killed- the God of the Bible is real
Y'all know- I ain't read the Bible a day in my life
But He's the one who's inflicting all my pain and my strife
So get a Bible and read it- whatever you read- believe it
And after reading, eat it, sleep it and breathe it
There's much more to this man Jesus- observe the story
And I can tell you that there's no such thing as purgatory
What I wouldn't give to have your opportunity
I see my pride has ruined me, ignoring God is lunacy
There's no comfort, all shame, no peace
No slumber, all pain, it don't cease
So don't be lax when attacked with distractions
The fashions and attractions had me relaxing
Now I'm awake for the first time ever
But from the goodness of God's works I'm severed
Regretting all the tracts that I threw in the trash
Regretting moving fast in pursuit of the cash
Regretting spending all my life trusting myself
Regretting not reading the Bible up on my shelf
Regretting all the things in life that had me caught up
Regretting switching the subject when Christ was brought up
Regretting not going to church when my friends invited me
Regretting believing my college profs who lied to me
Regretting dismissing all believers as lame
Regretting not examining Jesus' claims
There's something you gotta see, journey with me
It's approximately 30 A.D.
In the land of Israel- the city of Jerusalem
But on the outside there's screams and loud cries
Through faith, this scene can be seen without eyes
The mean shout lies and seem to sound wise
As we inch through the crowd, we need to be cautious
A Roman execution, men on three crosses
But all the focus is on the one in the center
The gate closes behind you- no one can enter
The sight you behold is so odd, you're stunned
The man hanging on the cross is God the Son
12 noon, it's pitch-black because the sunshine's lacking
Your minds can't fathom this divine transaction
As slowly the sound becomes mostly drowned
You realize that you're standing on holy ground
So forever will I tell
In three hours, Christ suffered more than any sinner ever will in hell
In three hours, Christ suffered more than any sinner ever will in hell
In three hours, Christ suffered more than any sinner ever will in hell
In three hours, Christ suffered more than any sinner ever will in hell
It's where we see Your holiness- at the cross
We see that You're controlling this- at the cross
We see how You feel about sin- at the cross
Your unfathomable love for men- at the cross
It's where we see Your sovereignty- at the cross
We see our idolatry- at the cross
We know that there's a judgment day- from the cross
May we never take our eyes away- from the cross
We're now in the realm of the sublime and profound
With God at the helm it's about to go down
The Father's wrath precise will blast and slice
The priceless Master Christ as a sacrifice
Willingly, He's under the curse
To be treated as if the Son was the worst scum of the earth
The scene is the craziest
Jesus being treated as if He is the shadiest atheist
How is it the Messiah is in the fiery pit
As if He was a wicked liar with twisted desires?
The One who's sinless and just
Punished as if He was promiscuous and mischievous with vicious lust
The source of all godly pleasure
Tormented as if He was a foul investor or child molestor
How could He be bruised like He was a goodie two-shoes
Who doesn't think that she needs the good news?
He's perfect in love and wisdom
But He's suffering as if He constructed the corrupt justice system
We should mourn at the backdrop
Jesus torn like He's on the corner with crack rock with porn on His laptop
What is this, kid? His gifts are infinite
But He's hit with licks for religious hypocrites
He's the Light, but being treated like
He's the seedy type who likes to beat His wife
He's treated like a rapist, treated like a slanderer
Treated like a racist or maybe a philanderer
Jesus being penalized like He had sin inside
Filled with inner pride while committing genocide
I could write for a billion years and still can't name
All of the sins placed on the Lamb slain
But know this: the main thing the cross demonstrated
The glory and the holiness of God vindicated
We're cursed from our birth, sinning from the beginning
The womb to the tomb, depraved to the grave
Astray every day, every breath brings death
In Adam all die, In Adam all die
We're rebels like the devil, scheming like demons
Prideful with our idols, disgusting with our lusting
Twisted and sin-sick, selfish and helpless
In Adam all die, In Adam all die
Everybody knows that they're guilty
Our conscience condemns us, shows us we're filthy
Truth be told, we really have no answers
For why we fall short of our own moral standards
The evidence for God is simply bountiful
And it's illogical to think we won't be held accountable
A universal day of judgment approaches
Any rational notion of justice would presuppose this
And deep down inside, everybody knows this
But we disregard it because our deeds are atrocious
We prefer the vicious, our words are malicious
Our slurs pernicious, we find the absurd delicious
Depraved in our appetites- the things we crave are lacking light
Because sin's got us enslaved and shackled tight
And if we are to understand the fruit
We need to go back and examine the root
We're cursed from our birth, sinning from the beginning
The womb to the tomb, depraved to the grave
Astray every day, every breath brings death
In Adam all die, In Adam all die
The world we live in wasn't always like this
The early days had perfect righteousness and bright bliss
Man and woman under God-ruled government at first
Bubbling with mirth, immersed in loving with no hurts
God gave what theologians call the covenant of works
Forbidden fruit- the day you eat of it you'll be cursed
Husband wasn't alert; wife lacked discernment
Entrapped by the serpent and that was the first sin
The consequences were monumental
In fact, I'm not convinced they had a clue of what they'd gotten into
Their eyes were opened more- truth in the lies
To their surprise, they didn't get the prize they were hoping for
They see their nakedness and now regret it
They tried to cover their guilt and then blame shift- how pathetic
And it's a true story- you want some evidence?
We've been doing the same thing ever since
We're cursed from our birth, sinning from the beginning
The womb to the tomb, depraved to the grave
Astray every day, every breath brings death
In Adam all die, In Adam all die
We talk Adam and Eve, cats think we're "throwed off", really
They don't think it relates to thugs in North Philly
But it's like Switchfoot said- we were meant to live
But in the garden Adam was our representative
So when the Judge executed the sentence
Adam's guilt was imputed to his descendents
Global calamity
Major debt, pain, regret, the reign of death- total depravity
And yes, I'm aware that cats were not there
Which opens the door to charges of "that's not fair"
But God is not subject to fallen notions of fairness
Besides, when it comes to God's glory, most could care less
We can't measure how we chase sand treasures
And banned pleasures- similar to our ancestors
So instead of saying if you were there what you would do
Seek your refuge in Adam number two
We're cursed from our birth, sinning from the beginning
The womb to the tomb, depraved to the grave
Astray every day, every breath brings death
This story starts at the climax, we find that time's lapsed- don't mind that
It's kind of like a night cap filled with divine acts
We zoom in the lens on Christ's agony on the garden
Doomed for His friends- His tragedy for our pardon
Foreseeing the Father's cup of wrath has Him stifled and weak
He's sweating blood with His disciples asleep
The Prince of Peace knows the beef shall increase
Since the thief approaches with the soldiers and the chief priests
His arrest is not just- neither is the trial
While Jesus is being treated foul, He sees Peter's denial
He's sent to Pilate, to Herod, back to Pilate
The violence of humanity at its finest
So now He stands before the crowd doomed to die
An angry mob who's yelling out "crucify"
The way they treat the Lord of glory is debased and it's foul
But you miss the point if you don't see your face in the crowd
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Were you there? Were you there?
Were you there? Were you there?
Were you there? Were you there?
Were you there? Were you there?
Man, sometimes it causes me to tremble
Yo, sometimes it causes me to tremble
This story starts at the climax, we find that time's lapsed- don't mind that
It's kind of like a night cap filled with divine acts
We zoom in the lens on Christ's agony in the garden
Doomed for His friends- it had to be for the pardon
And delivery from misery of kids who speak wickedly
Sinfully, inwardly slick with the iniquity
We see disciples sleep and mock today with a lot to say
But we do the same thing when we don't watch and pray
Like Judas, we sell Christ out to get the treasure
Whether it's the cheddar or forbidden pleasure
Like the chief priests, we want Christ to surrender
But we want Him out the way when He doesn't fit our agenda
Like Peter, we have misplaced, fleshly confidence
But we'll deny the Lord when faced with deadly consequence
Like Herod, we're curious about Christ because He's famous
But we quickly get bored with Him when He doesn't entertain us
Like Pilate, we see Christ and find nothing wrong with Him
But when the world chooses the wicked, we go right along with them
Despite His kindness, we seek to do our Maker violence
The fallenness of humanity at its finest
So now He stands before the crowd doomed to die
An angry mob who's yelling out "crucify"
The way they treat the Lord of glory is debased and it's foul
But you miss the point if you don't see your face in the crowd
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Were you there? Were you there?
Were you there? Were you there?
Were you there? Were you there?
Were you there? Were you there?
Man, sometimes it causes me to tremble
Yo, sometimes it causes me to tremble
This story starts at the climax, we find that time's lapsed- don't mind that
It's kind of like a night cap filled with divine acts
We zoom in the lens on Christ's agony on the garden
Doomed for His friends- His tragedy for our pardon
Foreseeing the Father's cup of wrath- it has Him stifled and weak
He's sweating blood with His disciples asleep
The Prince of Peace knows the beef shall increase
Since the thief approaches with the soldiers and the chief priests
His arrest is not just- neither is the trial
While Jesus is being treated foul, he sees Peter's denial
He's sent to Pilate, to Herod, back to Pilate
The violence of humanity at its finest
So now He stands before the crowd doomed to die
An angry mob who's yelling out "crucify"
The way we treat the Lord of glory is debased and it's foul
Ashamed, I bow because I see my face in the crowd
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Were you there? Were you there?
Were you there? Were you there?
Were you there? Were you there?
Were you there? Were you there?
Man, sometimes it causes me to tremble
(Adapted from Isaiah 6: 6, Rev. 1: 8, Ex. 15: 11, 18)
Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD!
Holy, Holy, Holy is our God!
Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD!
The whole earth is full of His glory!
Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD!
Holy, Holy, Holy is our God!
Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD
Who was, and is and is to come! (repeat)
Who is like You, O LORD, Among the gods?
Who is like You, O LORD?
Who is like You, awesome in power!
Majestic in Holiness, working wonders every hour!
Earthly kingdoms pass away, however
"Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion, and to you shall vows be performed. O you who hears prayer, to you shall all flesh come. When iniquities prevail against me, you atone for our transgressions. Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!" (Psalm 65:1-4)
I'm in the middle of a sticky situation- literally
My blood's dripping to a sickening degree
Who can speak of the agony? Legions attacking me
Beaten and raggedy, weakened through battery
With scraps of shrapnel in my back
I'm slapped, trapped- as a pack of strapped jackals attack
Ever look into the eyes of one who longs for your homicide?
If it's your time to die, is it wrong to be traumatized?
No urge to protect- curses burst from their breath
They stress I'm worthless, worthy of death and furnaces
From searching the text, they've perverted their steps
(They) prefer to neglect their virtuous rep- their threats are murderous
I'm viewed as unworthy- bruised and abused
By bloodthirsty dudes who refuse to love mercy
Perceiving through battered eyes a large crowd seething
Who won't be satisfied until my heart stops beating
Their eyes are telling me they want me dead
Their hunger for my blood must be fed
No one to intervene on my behalf
No one should have to walk along this path
I'm frightened, scared like eyeing the hypest bear or lion
I'm quite aware I'm dying- the sight is terrifying
No breaks, no way to escape from the horror
The weight of a hateful fate straight from the Torah
Some of the guys beat me- broke up my nose
One of my eyes completely closed from the blows
Disrobed from my clothes- my shame is evident
Beholding my foes' insane malevolence
With hearts set on monstrous violence, pompous tyrants
Got the go ahead from Pontius Pilate
So now I'm a victim- a classic case of
The implications of man's wicked imagination
His bitter agitation and twisted fascination
With assassinations through vivid lacerations
And now for the epitome of true affliction
Ladies and gentleman: welcome to my crucifixion
Everything's moving in slow motion
My tear's a stream, but my blood's an ocean
I'm far beyond the point of acting tough
The end can't come fast enough
The climax of my auditory horror story
No need for me to explore the gory in my oratory
Condemned by the high saddity deprived of pity
Two others crucified with me outside the city
Religious leadership offended by what I did there
I'm surrendered, stripped bear- suspended in mid-air
So everybody traveling the road to Jerusalem
Can look at us and see what the Romans will do to them
The shame of it- veins uncovered
Terrain rugged- nothing explains the pain suffered
Adequately, catastrophe as bad as can be
As gradually my life passes from me
Voices speaking blasphemously; subliminal
Reality means the physical is minimal
If you ask of me the principal?
I'm getting what I deserve cause actually I'm a criminal
It was the right verdict for my trial
here's no more time to be in denial
I'm trying to understand the illest riddle
Who's this man next to me in the middle?
His gracious words help me really see Him
"Lord, remember me when you get Your kingdom"
And I'm astounded when Jesus replies
Good evening, ladies and gentleman. Welcome to our presentation of Storiez, presented by Lamp Mode Recordings. My name is Rick Horne and I'll be your host.
From the earliest records of civilization, human beings have used storytelling as a powerful tool to communicate all that is considered significant regarding human experience. Over time, this has included everything from the classic struggle between good and evil to simple descriptions of everyday life, or even the use of the imagination to create mythical worlds. Although the media through which these stories are transmitted have changed over the years, the passions that lie at the root remain unchanged. Of course, this is because human nature itself has not changed.
The late author and philosopher C.S. Lewis is quoted in his Christian Reflections as saying, "History is a story written by the finger of God". With this in mind, human history and countless stories contained within it can be seen from two vantage points. The first would be characterized as secular history, or how humanity has lived out its existence without regard for its Creator. The second vantage point- the Biblical one- sees human history as the stage upon which God Himself-as the writer, director and main character- has been actively at work for His redemptive purposes, and ultimately the glory of Jesus Christ.
Verse 1
Heavenly Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus
It's because of His righteousness that we pray You receive this
Lord, you're holy, we shouldn't even be in Your presence
Due to our sin, we don't deserve the least of Your blessings
But through the cross and believing that Jesus is risen
Even the worst of sinners can be redeemed and forgiven
I'm living proof when I say this and these are truthful statements
You're beautiful when displaying Your unusual patience
You take the blasphemous- pridefully stuck in our blindness
Instead of smashing us, decided to love us with kindness
Even with unbelievers facing Your terror, You slow up
Like when You waited patiently in the era of Noah
We know that with You, a day is just like a thousand years
So does that mean for every sin, You cry a thousand tears?
Who can record Your graces? Adored through scores of ages
Your reward is the nations, for You are the Lord of patience
Chorus
Our Sovereign God, You are
The Lord of Patience, yeah
Your wrath, Oh God, we deserve
Christ has taken, yeah
Gracious God, You are
Slow to anger, yeah
You're Lord of patience and
You love us patiently
Verse 2
Lord, we worship You, we know that everything we owe You
And when we reflect on the time before we came to know You
How we were unbelievers committing tons of treason
We had a hundred reasons why we wouldn't come to Jesus
But they were all excuses because our thoughts were useless
That's what the dark produces, Father, You already knew this
We were foolish and clueless, just as ruthless as Judas
Who knew that You would choose to pursue us and move to woo us
So after waiting with patience as we would run from You
You activated our faith so that we would come to You
Your law exposed our sin so that we would know the danger
And take refuge in the Holy Savior who's slow to anger
And as our teary eyes beheld the cross of our King
We understood the true meaning of long-suffering
Who can record Your graces? Adored through scores of ages
Your reward is the nations, for You are the Lord of patience
Chorus
Verse 3
And now that we're in Christ, the thing that is amazing to us
Is that You still continue to display Your patience to us
Through all our stumbles and falls and our idolatry
Through all our grumbling and all of our hypocrisy
Our self-righteousness, with brothers and sisters we're hostile
Our unforgiveness- all because we're just missing the gospel
We should be slow to anger, but Your Word- we're slow to hear it
Oh Father, help us please! We truly need Your Holy Spirit!
He is the only Person who can shape this fruit within us
We praise the risen Savior who is able to present us
Without an ounce of blame, with zero doubt or shame
Lord Jesus, down You came from heaven to announce Your reign
In the hearts of Your people, and now we have the truth
And gladly choose to praise You for all of Your attributes
Who can record Your graces? Adored through scores of ages
Your reward is the nations, for You are the Lord of patience
Who is like You? You're the Faithful One
Lord, You saved us when you gave your Son
And You keep us so we will not fall
You're faithful, God
We're so thankful we can call you Friend
You redeemed us and made us whole again
You're the only one we know to call
You're so faithful, God
You are faithful, never changing
From age to age, you remain the same and
Your steadfast love endures forever
Father God we come now before You
We were made to bow down and adore You
We're filled with thankfulness because of Your faithfulness
To Your Word and we've found that it's all true
To Your face, Lord, we turn in amazement
In Your grace, You determined to save men
From sin's consequence because of Your promises
In Jesus Christ, which are "yes" and they're "amen"
When Adam sinned, You provided a covering
You heard Israel cry in their suffering
You brought them out of the land with Your powerful hand
Lord, You're truly the God of the covenant
Even though You dropped clues, they were missing it
From here, we can see the true significance
All Your acts of might were shadows and types
To point ahead to a future deliverance
From the things You say, You don't budge
You're faithful to save and You're faithful to judge
The God who is just is not one of us
The faithful God is the God we can trust
We can't trust us, on You we rely
Everything we need, Lord, You will supply
Even when we're faithless, You remain faithful
You cannot deny Yourself
Lord, thanks for Your grace and Your favor
Your faithfulness we've tasted and savored
Your love and care for us is most clear to us
When we're beholding the face of the Savior
The Human race as a whole was infected
But for those You have chosen, elected
You made a promise and it was accomplished when
The chief cornerstone was rejected
We see Him dying on the cross for our evil
Where He appeared to be soft and feeble
In actuality, He holds the galaxies
In His hands- He's exalted and regal
When we believed, You were faithful to save us
And that means You'll be faithful to change us
And the Spirit of Jesus will keep us 'til
You make us holy and blameless
From the things You say, You don't budge
You're faithful to save and You're faithful to judge
The God who is just became one of us
The faithful God is the God we can trust
We can't trust us- on You we rely
Everything we need, Lord, You will supply
Even when we're faithless, You remain faithful
Praise God the Father, the Immortal Creator
For Your glory you made us, You're the Sovereign Orchestrator
All that You decree will most surely come to happen
You're awesome as can be and Your glory none can fathom
Nothing could ever stain You, the heavens can't contain You
We thank You for sending Your Son to explain You
Otherwise we would have remained in the dark
But You sent Your Holy Spirit to spark a change in our hearts
According to Your eternal purpose and will
You determined to reveal Yourself to those who deserve to be killed
Those of us whom You foreknew adore You
We praise You that You predestined us to be conformed to
The image of Your Son who's the radiance of Your glory
When I meditate on it, the weightiness of it floors me
So Father, we'll praise you over and over again
Because You sent Your only Son to atone for our sins
Glory to the Father, Glory to the Son,
Glory to The Spirit- Three and Yet One
One in Your essence, Three in Your Person
The same in Your nature, distinct in Your working
Oh my soul- behold the wonder of the Trinity
Blessed be the Trinity, Oh, what a mystery!
I'll stand amazed for the rest of my days
Pouring out my heart in Triune praise
Praise God the Son, Second Person of the Trinity
You're distinct from the Father, yet you share in His divinity
Fulfilling an eternal covenant- You came through
To planet earth to save who? All the Father gave You
You became a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief
For the glory of Your Father You extinguished the beef
That stood between us at the cross- the Father's anger released
The Shepherd slain for the sheep, the situation is deep
I can't find the right language to speak, in fact it's making me weep-
Just the thought of You saving this creep
You're risen from the dead, I still can't get this in my head,
How the Judge could leave the bench and go to prison instead
Lord Jesus, you're amazing, Your bleeding is what saved men
It's the reason why we're praising, can't wait to see Your face
In the meantime, please help us to see You as colossal
And by the Spirit live lives worthy of the gospel
Glory to the Father, Glory to the Son,
Glory to The Spirit- Three and Yet One
One in Your essence, Three in Your Person
The same in Your nature, distinct in Your working
Oh my soul- behold the wonder of the Trinity
Blessed be the Trinity, Oh, what a mystery!
I'll stand amazed for the rest of my days
Pouring out my heart in Triune praise
Praise God the Holy Spirit, 3rd person of the Trinity
Distinct from Father and Son, yet share in Their divinity
Holy Spirit we praise You, You don't like the spotlight
You'd rather point away from yourself and give props to Christ
But yet because You're God, You deserve veneration
And You're the One responsible for our regeneration
You apply the finished work of Christ to all the elect
Your call is effectual- You haven't lost one yet
You comfort us when sin, Satan and the world got us bothered
And it's only by You that we cry out "Abba Father"
You're the Spirit of adoption, the Spirit of Truth,
You graciously provide Your people with the gifts and the fruit
You help us kill sin and dis-attach us from our idols
If it wasn't for You, we'd never understand the Bible
Because You wrote it- For our life it will surely suffice
Amazingly, You do it all for the glory of Christ!
Tune in with concentration as we resume the conversation
The loftiest thoughts conceivable for human contemplation
Trying to search the mysteries of the divine is real deep
And when it comes to the nature of God, at times we still sleep
We must risk people tuning us out as we discuss this
The topic on the table for reflection? God's Justice
The Scriptures are clear: salvation belongs to God alone
And that righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne
He's the priceless gift and treasure, all life exists for His pleasure
And He is the standard by which all righteousness should be measured
All human judges fail- no need to share the statistics
But God judges perfectly due to His characteristics
First, He's omniscient, so He never lacks information
Secondly, His understanding: it has no limitations Plus He knows the thoughts and all the motives behind them
And no one could ever go hide in a place where the Sovereign LORD cannot find them
When passing a sentence, He has the power of execution
The proper retribution for our private revolutions
And He's in the position to smash us for our treason
No one'll be copping pleas when God dispatches all His legions
To execute the sentence on resolute defendants Who rejected the truth because they never knew repentance
And those who stood against the Great I Am and His Anointed
When God judges the nations through the Man He has appointed
The Judge of all the earth shall do right The Judge of all the earth shall do right
He is good and His ways are just
Worthy of our faith and trust
The Judge of all the earth shall do right
As we continue to consider this particular perfection
Let's take a second to address a few misconceptions
When many think of God they assume His love is a must
That's true, but it doesn't negate the fact that God is just
So when we say this, they'll wanna take us off the playlist
But God is never under obligation to be gracious
See, justice and mercy are two separate categories
And God is the one who chooses which way He'll have His glory
The choices The Holy One certainly can't be faulted
In punishing the guilty, His righteousness is exalted
He also rewards the righteous, we kind of/ sort of like this
The problem of course is that nobody who's born is righteous
All of Adam's descendants are inherently filthy
That's problematic for a God who will not clear the guilty
If God is gonna save us and demonstrate what His love is
It must be in a manner that's consistent with His justice
Jesus Christ, The Righteous One, the perfect solution
Proving that God is just on the basis of substitution
Perfect obedience, consecration without a flaw
Yet on the cross He suffered the condemnation of the law
So now God is able to be just and the justifier
Of all who turn from their sin and place their trust in Messiah
The resurrected Lord is our infinite treasure truly
He gives us new eyes to see His justice in all its beauty!
The Judge of all the earth shall do right The Judge of all the earth shall do right
He is good and His ways are just
Worthy of our faith and trust
Not to us, not to us
But to Your name be the glory!
Not to us, not to us
But to Your name be the glory!
Let us begin: How should we start?
Brightness shining out of the dark
It shines in our hearts, providing a spark
His might incites the light to impart
Takes us back to Genesis 1
Angels clapped, and hymns- they were sung
Face the facts- He's second to none
In the beginning positioned the sun
Up in the sky, hovering high
The light's too bright, cover your eyes
Type of sights that none can devise
This Righteous Knight is lovely and wise
It's seen in the stars
Seen in the galaxies, seen in quasars
Neptune, Uranus and Pluto and Jupiter
Mercury, Saturn and Venus and Mars
Back to the earth, it shows in the trees
Each of the leaves blows in the breeze
Locusts and bees, ocean and seas
All the result of Jehovah's decrees
Observe the way His Word creates
Preserves and shapes, determines fates
Reverberates at urgent rates
The earth- it shakes with fervent quakes!
Imagine it
I can't explain the half of it
Our brains can't even fathom it
And language is inadequate
To characterize the Lord on the throne
With spiritual eyes, His story is known
From Him and through Him and to Him is everything
Surely to God be the glory alone!
Not to us, not to us
But to Your name be the glory!
Not to us, not to us
But to Your name be the glory!
Let us consider the God who is there
Possessing a glory that's not to be shared
God versus anyone- not even fair
How could you dare to try to compare
The Self-existent, Self-sufficient
Omnipotent, Beneficent
Faithful God whose Word we can trust
Perfectly Holy and perfectly just
His beauty, there's no end to it
Transcendence is infinite
Knowledge and wisdom- intricate
Steadfast love is intimate
We see in His laws- He is the Boss
Nothing about Him is evil or false
Pure perfection, zero flaws
All of His attributes meet at the cross!
The place where Jesus Christ was smashed
To satisfy God's righteous wrath
Rose from the grave on my behalf
Through faith in Christ, He lights our path
Makes believers part of His fam
How does a Holy God pardon a man?
Perhaps even harder to understand:
From the beginning was part of His plan!
Imagine it
I can't explain the half of it
Our brains can't even fathom it
And language is inadequate
To characterize the Lord on the throne
With spiritual eyes, His story is known
From Him and through Him and to Him is everything
Surely to God be the glory alone!
Not to us, not to us
But to Your name be the glory!
Not to us, not to us
Now let's get straight to the topic, God's love is weighty to process
And apart from the Holy Spirit, we're unable to digest
Because man's depraved in his logic, so God's haters will mock it
But inter-trinitarian love should make us astonished
Imagine the Son enjoying the embrace of His Father
Eternally paying Him homage as He bathed in His knowledge
Equally faithful and sovereign, gracious, patient and honest
Cosmic greatness blazing with radiance- conscious
Holy Spirit also present, full display of His God-ness
No creation could watch this- it wasn't safe for their optics
What an awesome scene in heaven with all esteem and reverence
It's Psalm 16: 11 as conveyed through the prophet
Overflow of joy and love, the Father made Him a promise
To give His Son a people to liberate from their bondage
So they're no longer slaves and hostages, but blameless and spotless
Consequence of eternal love- our salvation's accomplished!
Love so perfect
Love eternally
Unchanging, Holy, Righteous Love
Transcends our understanding
But in Your nature there is perfect love
Love so perfect
Love eternally
Unchanging, Holy, Righteous Love
Transcends our understanding
But in salvation there is perfect love
Now it's one thing to consider God's love that's within
But how could God's love extend to men corrupted with sin?
Because we certainly don't deserve it, He's perfect and we're imperfect
What's lurking beneath the surface? His mercy and deeper purpose
Made in His likeness, installed with reminders of His law
Despite our blindness from the fall, His kindness reaches all
The fact He allows the sun to rise on this evil planet
Means that His love is such that we can't even understand it
In other words, don't let traditions fool ya, gotta let them Scriptures school ya
As a matter of fact, see how Christ reacted when it came to the rich young ruler
Love explicit, if it isn't His love, what is it
Restricting Him from inflicting His vengeance on the wicked?
Some call it common grace, but I'm inclined to state
That it's the love of God shining from a place that beyond time and space
They say, "If God is love, what's eternal torment for?"
Well, He loves the world for sure, but He loves His glory more!
Perhaps the most misunderstood aspect of this subject
Would be the love of God that He expresses towards the elect
And the second some people hear that, they get mad inside
But it's a special kind of love the Husband has for His Bride
It's a love that distinguishes her and sets her apart
No other woman could ever have the same effect on His heart
Because this Groom is not adulterous, this marriage has no openness
His devotion is traced back to when the world was motionless
In love we were predestined for adoption as a son
Not for anything that we've done, check Ephesians chapter one
Look, when we lived as God's opponents, He gave His only Son for atonement
So we've got to see He can't possibly love us more than He does this moment
In love, He justified us, in love, He sanctifies us
So we don't have to jump through hoops to try to make Him like us
One thing we truly cannot fathom- we're stunned
