A new way to build that will put an end to homes as we know them and rival the auto industry. The shipping container has changed every product on the planet over the last 70 years. A network across the globe in every country has been built to easily transport products over-seas, on rail and then by truck to its destination. The result of containerization has been that everything we consume has become cheaper, faster, and more economical with time. Almost every product and material that exists in your home traveled in a shipping container before it is sold. The home is the only product that has never fit inside a 40 foot ISO shipping container- until now! If we build homes like the auto industry builds cars, they can evolve. Each new model will build off its predecessor keeping what works and upgrading what doesn't. They will be produced in a controlled factory environment where waste and errors can be minimized and procedure is controlled down to the second, maximizing every variable. It will reduce the travel of building materials and huge profit margins for middlemen like Home Depot and Lowes who mark-up some of their products 1000%. Imagine building your dream house out of Lego blocks. A bedroom or kitchen container would be a "Lego Living Block." The family room may be two containers side by side, fully furnished floor to ceiling with your choice of interior. Let's imagine a few years down the line after you get married and have your first child. You go back to your dealership and upgrade your house with an additional customized bedroom container, delivered and installed on top of your existing home or next to it. No need to sell your home because it is too small and move somewhere else. Then imagine your deserving new wife saying she would love a new kitchen and bathroom. Don't tear out the old one and throw it away, sell it on craigslist or ebay to somebody else who needs it as if it were a used car. Your new kitchen and bathroom will be delivered and installed the same day your old one is taken away! No waste. No months of renovation work. No problem. Finally, the family and home you always dreamed of is complete. Then your boss calls you into his office and says, "You've been promoted to Vice President of the company- pack up your stuff and move your family to Texas!" You don't need to sell the most personal and valuable thing you own that you have spent your life building; you hire a standard trucking company to move your whole house with all your belongings in it. No packing, no selling your house, no buying a new house, and no unpacking! You sell your old parcel of land and buy a new one. The greatest inherent benefit of containerization is that your home becomes a distinct product of more value compared to typical homes because it is never 100% tied down to its location. You can sell your home and your land separately! If you love the home, but not the property, you can change that. When you retire, bring your family home with you to a location across the world to a place you really love!
