Ampezzo
Ampezzo (Friulian: Dimpeç, German: Petsch) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,137 and an area of 73.5 square kilometres (28.4 sq mi).
The municipality of Ampezzo contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Cima Corso, Oltris, and Voltois.
Ampezzo borders the following municipalities: Forni di Sotto, Ovaro, Sauris, Socchieve.

Known as the “Queen of the Dolomites”, Cortina dAmpezzo is in the heart of the Dolomites in Italy and an ideal home base for hiking, climbing, mountain biking in summer, and skiing in winter. Cortina d’Ampezzo hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 1956 and will host it again in 2026. I stayed there before and after my long-distance trek “Alta Via 1” through the Dolomites and enjoyed strolling along the cobblestone streets. Let’s explore the Cortina d’Ampezzo town center and beyond! In addition, I’ll show you my journey from Venice and the 2 hotels I stayed at in Cortina d’Ampezzo; Hotel Olimpia, and Hotel de la Poste.

Ampezzo
Ampezzo (Friulian: Dimpeç, German: Petsch) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,137 and an area of 73.5 square kilometres (28.4 sq mi).
The municipality of Ampezzo contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Cima Corso, Oltris, and Voltois.
Ampezzo borders the following municipalities: Forni di Sotto, Ovaro, Sauris, Socchieve.
