МАРИЈАНА И РОСАНА - ОДЛУЧИ, ГОРАНЕ Marijana i Rosana - Odluči, Gorane (TV Spot Fest 1987) Author: Tode Novačevski. Audio (c) RTV Skopje (MRT) 1987 Marijana & Rosana recorded and performed "Odluči, Gorane" on the first semi-final of TV Spot Fest 1987, held at TV Skopje studios on 18.10.87. Since Marijana was in her late pregnancy, she could not sing at the Finals held on 13.12., Rosana performed the song solo (on playback) and won both Third Awards - by the Jury and by the Audience. TV Spot was a short lived TV music festival organized by the Macedonian Television (TV Skopje) in order to encourage authors to promote new songs in times when the production of Macedonian pop music was scarce and there were no music festivals in Macedonia. (The last edition of Skopje Fest was in 1979). The concept was to make videos of all selected songs and present them in Semi-Finals, and the audience, by voting through coupons published in the Macedonian weekly magazine "Ekran", would chose the finalists. The first edition was in 1985, there were 36 songs (and videos) in 4 Semi-Finals, and 20 made it to the Finals held in the RTV Skopje studios. In 1986 the new Festival emerged (Makfest) and authors focused on it, so there were less good songs submitted - 22 were selected and their videos were presented in 2 shows, of which 16 songs were selected for the Finals. With the rise of Makfest, authors lost interest for TV Spot Fest, so there were only 18 songs chosen for the third edition. They were presented in 2 shows, but there were no eliminations, and they were all performed at the Finals in the TV Studio. No videos were shot that year, hence the festival was renamed to TV Fest. The third edition was the last one Twin sisters Marijana & Rosana Sarić are Macedonian singers who made their debut at the Yugoslav finals for the Eurovision Song Contest 1982 ("Molči, molči"). They were quite active as a duo in 1980s, singing at many festivals as well. They participated twice at Jugovizija (1982, 1984 - "Opasna zona"), Opatija 1985 ("Iluzija, fantazija"), all three editions of TV Spot Fest (1985 - "Edno leto" with Spektar and "Koj li e toj" with Urnebes, 1986 - "Malečok" - Second Audience Award, 1987 - "Odluči, Gorane" - Third Audience Award and Third Jury Award). In this period they were also occasional members of the groups Spektar and Urnebes, and they start singing folk songs. Marijana marries Tode Novačevski, who is also a singer and songwriter, who will write most they songs in the future. They won the First Jury Award at Folk Fest Valandovo 1988 with his song "Edno srce imam". They were also regulars at Makfest (1987 - "Stoj" - SOKOJ Award for Best Song, 1988 - "Priznavam" - SOKOJ Award for Best Song and Best Interpretation Award, 1989 - "Ako ne isčeznam" (with Tode) - SOKOJ Award for Best Song). 1991 will mark their last festival appearance together ("Ljubov", joined by young Tamara Todevska), before Marijana and Tode move to Australia. Rosana will continue her career solo and Tode will still write songs for her. In 1992 Rosana will duet Naum Petreski and win the Grand Prix at Interfest 1992 ("Ima edna sudbina"). Follows "Žena" at Makfest 92, "Prosti mi, zemjo majko" (Interfest 1993). She won the Second Audience Award at Makfest 1995 ("Ova utro") and many songs and awards on folk festivals. Marijana & Rosana will make a brief singing reunion as a duo early 2000s.
