Mayor of Camden Councillor Jonathan Simpson conducted the historic service alongside Registrar Tania Uddin and Deputy Superintendent Registrar Steven Lord. Speaking after the ceremony Mr Adl-Tabatabai said, "It feels very surreal. During the service when the Mayor was talking about the historical significance in the journey of equal rights for the gay community, it was at that moment it hit me how huge the moment was." Mr Treadway, commented, "Hopefully one day we'll look back in the future and we won't still be fighting for rights but we'll all be accepted"

Human rights in Egypt? Out of the question!
Human rights in Egypt? Out of the question!

Araik Stepanian, a member of the Presidium of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems, shared his opinion about the situation in Egypt in an interview with Pravda.Ru. Araik Stepanian: "What were the reasons for a second rebellion or revolution in modern-day Egypt? First off, it is about the messy change of government. When new people came, they quickly began to throw old people out. The newcomers were not as professional managers as their predecessors. They were selected for religious reasons, for the degree of their devotion and so on. Quite rapidly, the change of power led to extreme indignation and lack of understanding. All the Egyptians, who fought and tried to change the government, thought that they would be more involved in the process of formation, or recreation of the new Egypt. However, they saw that if you're not from the "Muslim Brotherhood", if you're not Salafi and so on, then you can not have claims to power. There were no opportunities for other political organizations. They took a monopoly on power and began to dictate their terms in a rude way. During one year, people saw no changes for the better, nothing happened in their lives. The economic stagnation remained where it was, the unemployment rate was 13 percent. Egypt could not do without financial assistance from the outside, so the Americans finance them. Now they want to raise a loan from the International Monetary Fund. They have not solved the questions, which people were defending when they were protesting against Mubarak. On the contrary, all those problems became much more serious. For example, in the new draft constitution Mursi made himself more powerful than the pharaohs of Ancient Egypt. So human rights, free press, women's rights and so on are not an issue to deal with at all.
