Tamil Nadu is unlikely to throw up any surprises this time where Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa-led ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) looks stronger and is expected to maintain its lead in the Lok Sabha elections. While the AIADMK is expected to win 15-23, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) 7-13, Congress 1-5 and others may bag 4-10 seats according to the projections provided by Chennai Mathematical Institute's Director Professor Rajeeva Karandikar.- published: 21 Jan 2014

LS polls: Setback for Left as alliance with AIADMK collapses
In a major setback to the Third Front ahead of the crucial general elections, the AIADMK has refused to be a part of it. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa decided to part ways with the Third Front after the two Left parties, which contested three seats each in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, refused to compromise on numbers. The AIADMK never went beyond offering them more than one seat each.- published: 06 Mar 2014

Jayalalithaa: AIADMK Kar Sevaks are in Ayodhaya
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in her eagerness to come clear of the accusations that "the AIADMK had sent kar sevaks to Ayodhya" made a mention of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the first time during her electioneering here on Sunday. Emphatically stating that it was the BJP that supported the kar seva and sent kar sevaks to Ayodhya, Ms. Jayalalithaa said the DMK was part of the then BJP-led National Democratic Alliance at the Centre from 1999 to 2003 and enjoyed lucrative ministerial berths in the NDA government. AIADMK 2014 election manifesto supports Eelam, Katchatheevu & other Tamil Nation issues 25Feb2014 Related Information Indicative of J Jayalalithaa's national ambitions, AIADMK today promised to raise Income Tax (IT) exemption limit to Rs five lakh and take away powers of oil marketing companies to determine prices of petrol and diesel if it is elected to be part of the next government. Releasing its manifesto, the AIADMK, which wants to see the four-time Tamil Nadu Chief Minister as the country's next Prime Minister, pledged to extend the state's "laudable" populist schemes like distribution of free mixies, grinders, fans, milch cows and goats across the country in addition to making a series of national-level promises. Enacting the Women's Reservation Bill, which is hanging fire, and bringing back black money are also on the list. "In the election manifesto of AIADMK, we have spelt out many policies and promises to implement schemes aimed at not only the development and growth of Tamil Nadu but the development and growth of Indian nation," she said. The manifesto was released at AIADMK headquarters, a day after party candidates for all 39 Lok Sabha Seats in Tamil Nadu besides the lone Puducherry constituency were announced by Jayalalithaa. In the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, the AIADMK had won 9 seats in Tamil Nadu. Since the development of states is dependent on the Centre's economic, foreign and fiscal policies, "it is essential that a government at the Centre is formed, of which the AIADMK will be an integral part, so as to restore the rights of Tamil Nadu, and to obtain for Tamil Nadu its due share, and for devolving additional powers upon the states," the document said. Harping on the emotive Sri Lankan Tamils issue, the party promised that it was determined to move the UN for holding a Referendum amongst Tamils in Sri Lanka and displaced ones across the world for formation of a separate Eelam (homeland). Reiterating its opposition to the FDI in retail trade, the AIADMK said it would take measures to rescind the existing UPA government policy, while proposing to replace the "half-baked" Food Security Act with a Universal Public Distribution System. It promised efforts for recovery of Indian black money stashed in foreign havens, Income Tax exemption of up to Rs five lakh and a transparent natural resources policy to ensure that the natural resources are made available to consumers at fair price. The current income tax exemption limit is Rs two lakh. The AIADMK promised that it would withdraw the authority given to oil marketing companies to determine the prices of petrol and diesel and that action will be taken to maintain the prices of petrol, diesel and domestic LPG at the same level throughout the year.- published: 25 Feb 2014

Lok Sabha Elections 2014 : Nanjil Sampath AIADMK Election Campaign at Tenkasi 14-03-2014 The general election will be held in nine phases, the longest election in the country's history, from 7 April to 12 May 2014 to constitute the 16th Lok Sabha in India. Voting will take place in all 543 parliamentary constituencies of India to elect Members of Parliament in the Lok Sabha. The result of this election will be declared on 16 May 14, before the 15th Lok Sabha completes its constitutional mandate on 31 May 2014. According to the Election Commission of India, the electoral strength in 2014 is 81.45 crores (814.5 million), the largest in the world. There is an increase of 10 crores (100 million) newly eligible voters. This also will be the longest and the costliest general election in the history of the country with the Election Commission of India estimating that the election will cost the exchequer Rs 3,500 crores, excluding the expenses incurred for security and individual political parties. Parties are expected to spend 30,500 crores (about US$5 billion) in the election, according to the Centre for Media Studies. This is three time what was spend in the previous election and is the world's second highest after the US$7 billion spent on the 2012 U.S. election. By constitutional requirement, elections to the Lok Sabha must be held at most every five years or whenever parliament is dissolved by the president. The previous election, to the 15th Lok Sabha, was conducted in April--May 2009, and its term will naturally expire on 31 May 2014. The election will be organised by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and are normally held in multiple phases, to better handle the large electoral base and security concerns. Nanjil Sampath is a politician and deputy propaganda secretary of the party AIADMK. He was the propaganda secretary of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He was in jail for 51 days under the National Security Act. Due to contradicts happened with Vaiko he left MDMK and joined AIADMK. This Video Covered From Tenkasi.
