Caixin Reporter nach Inhaftierung Land developer.China verhaftet
A reporter for the Caixin news agency has been arrested after he illegally detained a developer in the process of a land-grab in Shandong. Chen Baocheng, the reporter, trapped an excavator in his cab and doused him in gasoline in an attempt to stop the man from demolishing Chen's family home. Caixin has published a statement regarding Chen's situation: On August 10, Caixin Media Co. learned from Internet posts that a Caixin employee and reporter, Chen Baocheng, had been detained by police in Pingdu City, Shandong Province, over disputes related to forced demolition. Caixin immediately tried to get in touch with Chen, but failed. It then commissioned a lawyer to contact the Pingdu police to learn more about the incident and law enforcement procedures. However, as of the release of this statement, the police have not responded. On the night of August 10, Caixin prepared a written inquiry to send to the Pingdu police bureau. A police officer surnamed Ma who answered our call said the bureau's fax machine was broken and refused to receive the letter or answer any questions about Chen. [...] Caixin is closely following the detention of Chen. We call for restraint and for all parties to act rationally. Actions should fall within the framework of the law. We hope that the authorities in Pingdu can disclose information in a timely manner and handle the case with justice and transparency. Justice and transparency are essentially the antitheses of China's land grabs, which include hired thugs, surprise demolitions, and death pacts. No word yet on when Chen will be released.- published: 14 Aug 2013

A pro Chinese Communist Party (CCP) religious person was killed in front of his house. Radio Free Asia has reported that the deceased was Abdurehim Damolla, vice chairman of Turpan Islamic Association. No news was released from local police. Reportedly, sources from the relevant CCP departments say that two of the three suspects have been arrested. The informant also reveals that one month before his death, Damolla was reminded to stop speaking for the CCP. The CCP has recently required the Uighurs to cut beard and not wear ethnic adornments. It has attracted wide public attention. The new book collects topics on reforms, and the June 4th pro-democracy movement in 1989. The memoirs contain three speeches given by Zhu in 1989. They show that Zhu discouraged military control of Beijing. He refused to send the army and the police during the events, in attempt to avoid escalation of the situation. Deutsche Welle reports quoted Yao Jianfu, a former government researcher. He says that in 1989, the main demands raised by the students, were actually similar to some questions raised by Zhu Rongji in Shanghai. Yao asks, "what is wrong with the students? Why did the authorities shoot those students?" Yao Jianfu says that it is to Zhu's credit that he doesn't dodge the "June 4th" incident in his book. Yao reviews that Zhu has only played a role of political puppet. He was a tool serving the Chinese Communist Party(CCP). Yao says that if Zhu had taken more steps in political reforms, it would undermines the CCP's dictatorship. Zhu would have faced the same fate as Zhao Ziyang who was ousted from his role.
