SILICON VALLEY: LOGICAL POSITIVISM, MATHS, PROBABILITY, INFERENCE
Chris Horrie interviews Professor Keith Devlin as part of the History and Context of Journalism series at the University of Winchester. Professor Devlin is a co-founder and Executive Director of the university's H-STAR institute, a co-founder of the Stanford Media X research network, and a Senior Researcher at CSLI. He is a World Economic Forum Fellow and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His current research is focused on the use of different media to teach and communicate mathematics to diverse audiences. He also works on the design of information/reasoning systems for intelligence analysis. Other research interests include: theory of information, models of reasoning, applications of mathematical techniques in the study of communication, and mathematical cognition. He has written 28 books and over 80 published research articles. Recipient of the Pythagoras Prize, the Peano Prize, the Carl Sagan Award, and the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics Communications Award. In 2003, he was recognized by the California State Assembly for his "innovative work and longtime service in the field of mathematics and its relation to logic and linguistics." Here he was interviewed by Chris Horrie during the Innovation Journalism conference at Stanford University in Silicon Valley, California. Professor Devlin deals with important concepts underlying the History and Context of Journalism course at the University of Winchester including the basics of grammar and logic, probability, induction and inference, the scientific approach to evidence and the verification principle of Logical Positivism and the falsification principle as developed by Karl Popper. Professor Devlin has also done important original research into probability theory which is of direct use when applied to DNA evidence to the Innocence Project.- published: 19 Jan 2014

anti-anxiety spell...
even though jung is often discredited in psych community because of his association with the analysts, as well as his more esoteric ideas on the collective unconscious, he is still considered one of the more brilliant individuals to have ever lived and many of his ideas are integral to modern theory, culture, and critique... he had a lot to say on the importance of dreams, art and mysticism and their value in combination with logical positivism...
dreams, art and mythology are some of many good means of confrontation and alleviation of anxiety built up through schemas of thought and role conflict...
i personally find that anything that involves ritualism, chanting, repetition, confrontation, and a lack of overall seriousness helps me quite measurably.
its kind of about immersion... so it's best to watch it close up, full screen, with the volume up... whenever you watch it, watch it all the way through to the end, it gets less overwhelming as it goes along... and try and watch it in a dark room at least once a day for a week or two.
...so, i hope this helps you in some way...
(it's made up of several audio and video sources i mixed together... some of them produced by me, some of them appropriated and highly processed and distorted... fire, zombies, children, chanting, rhythm... )

Could activities, engendered through an articulation of Artifacts, facilitate a resilient new space-time identity driven by conceptual intention and logistic opportunism? It is possible to access the structural-beyond-functional abilities of artifacts by taking narrative tools from natural language, to characterize activities orchestrated into novel architectural cases. Cases are generalizable and ‘exportable’ into other languages through the use of abstract logical and mathematical operators and constructs, which can be directly mapped to code. With an open and rich interpretation of artifacts’ abilities and a grammar capable of integrating them as ‘narrative tectonics’, it is possible to reinterpret an identity loaded with meanings, unproductive concepts and ‘sterile’ infrastructures into a different scenario, one of optimism, positivism and empowered ‘urbanity’.

Epistemological Objection to God Verificationism and Logical Positivism and Falsificationism
Epistemological Objection to God: Verificationism and Logical Positivism and Falsificationism. Is science the only way to know truth? Are the human five senses the only way to determine reality? If you answered "yes" to these questions you have been influenced by a school of thought known as verificationism. Many atheists and skeptics like Richard Dawkins, Lawrence Krauss, and Stephen Hawking (whether they know it or not) have been using logical positivism in their style of thinking. William Lane Craig shows how verificationism is too restrictive and self-contradictory.
