At the Hub for Sustainable Living, we like to do it together. Sure, we
love to make stuff, and especially make new stuff out of old stuff, but
the way that we do this is by working together. The Hub and the Museum

materials by doing things together, in an exhibition of art and crafts."

Pagan Film Series February-May 2014
Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In and Community Seed Presents:
In the twilight years of Pagan Rome, Alexandrian philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician Hypatia must navigate a world increasingly under the control of the Christian church and hostile to women in positions of power. Starring academy award winner Rachel Weisz. Rated R.
A retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, set during the time of the Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro. Orfeo is a trolley conductor and musician, engaged to Mira. During Carnival week, he sees Eurydice, who's fled her village in fear of a stalker - it's love at first sight. But she is being stalked by Death, can Orfeo conduct her to safety? Don't look back. Portuguese with English subtitles. Rated PG
Angela Lansbury, along with three plucky working class kids and the dad from Mary Poppins, put the smackdown on the Nazis with a broom and some hocus pocus. This 1971 Disney animated musical was so subversive, the House on Unamerican Activities had to reconvene and investigate. Just kidding. Rated G.
A Dominican friar visits a 13th-century French village in search of heretics. Despite the opposition of the local priest and the indifference of the villagers, he finds a seemingly perfect suspect: a young woman who lives in a forest outside the village and cures people with herbs and folk remedies. French with English subtitles. Not Rated.

We organize, host, and promote events that enrich and improve our lives, our world, and our community at large in the Santa Cruz region.(excerpt from their website and more at http://www.communityseed.org/)

About ACAB
Here is some info about the acronym ACAB from wikipedia. I have also heard of ACAB as meaning all cats are beautiful. This is a particularly useful variation if one is displaying that acronym and wants to give a diplomatic answer as to it's meaning. And yet another variation is all civilizations are bastards, which takes a broader view of the social ills we face, of which the police force is a part.
And yea, there are aspects of the phrase that I really don't relate to, like the concept of a bastard, the absolute nature of ALL, and that the phrase is pointing to individuals and not systems...but still, I do understand and appreciate the general anti-cop perspective.
And go to this link from crimethinc for a more thorough analysis of (the) police force: Seven Myths about the Police.
from wikipedia (which I condensed a little): A.C.A.B. is an anti-police acronym standing for "All Cop[per]s Are Bastards",[1] used as a slogan in graffiti, tattoos, and other imagery.
The use of the acronym has also been used by law enforcement personnel as a counter-acronym: Always Carry A Badge or Always Carry A Bible.

History
The Dictionary of Catchphrases attests the acronym in graffiti as early as 1977 in an article by a Newcastle journalist who spent a night in jail and documented the term written on walls; the book reckons the acronym itself to be no older than the 1970s, though the full phrase to date back as far as the 1920s.[2] The British Oi! punk band, the 4-Skins, popularized the acronym A.C.A.B. in their 1980s song of the same name.[3]Usage
The acronym is often integrated into prison tattoos in the United Kingdom, commonly rendered as one letter per finger, alternatively sometimes seen as symbolic small dots across each knuckle.[4] In modern politics skinheads use "ACAB" as "All Cops Are Bastards". Additionally, the anarchist movement often uses ACAB as a political slogan, most notably by antifa groups. The use of the acronym has also been used by law enforcement personnel as a counter-acronym: Always Carry A Badge or Always Carry A Bible.

*Birth Attendant Basics from 6-8pm (a Free Skool Santa Cruz class) - This class is intended for any of the following: 1) those generally interested in the ways humans naturally birth, 2) those who can imagine attending the birth of a loved one at some point and would like to be helpful/supportive of the birthing mother/family, and 3) those that might like to someday give birth themselves and would like more info than is often given in the dominant culture about childbearing. Topics will include the physiology of labor and birth as well as the needs of the mother during this time. An emphasis will be placed on things that make a good birth attendant.

Used needles and yarn remnants are available for beginners who don't have their own supplies.
*Guitar Skills: Basic to Advanced at 6:15pm (a Free Skool Santa Cruz class) - Let's learn how to read tablature, play scales, play chords and basic strumming patterns, fingerpick, tune your guitar by ear, make a capo, string your guitar, and jam with others. *Open Mic at 7:3o sign-ups- Open mic is a space for you to share yourself in anyway that feels right to you. You can read a story, poem or journal entry that feels important to you. *Self Knowledge for Anarchists at 5:30pm (a Free Skool Santa Cruz class) - Do I know myself well enough that my desire for change in the world translates into meaningful action? One approach is to begin from the ancient Socratic saying “Know thyself” -- if self- knowledge is the aim, then self-observation is one direct approach. In my life I have studied and attempted to apply the approach to self-observation brought to Europe and America by George Gurdjieff, and his student PD Ouspensky. It is non-authoritarian, and a-religious, and begins with the admonition to “Believe Nothing.” We will read and discuss selections from the Gurdjieff literature.
-Sat. Jan 25th- open hours from 2pm
*Songwriters Showcase- from 7:30-10pm (a Free Skool Santa Cruz offering) In this class you will be given a songwriting prompt each month, something simple as a theme like "the ocean", and after a few weeks we will get together and have a showcase of the songs we create from the prompt! Your songs can be anything! Instrumental, a cappella, solo or big band, electronic, etc. Requirements: Email rorqual@riseup.net for prompt! There is no wrong way to do it! All you need is a willingness to be creative and to share your music. And come and hear the songs that folks created! It'll be fun (or something) for everyone!
