No Fire Zone

40 leading figures from the global south headed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu have called for an independent international investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by both sides in the closing stages of the Sri Lankan civil war. Their aim is to counter claims by the Sri Lankan government that support for such a commission of inquiry is merely a part of a western agenda.

The appeal signed by figures from the global South included signatories from

South Africa, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Pakistan, Uganda, India, Cambodia, Malaysia, Brazil, Japan, Bosnia, Mongolia, Cote d’Ivoire, Nepal and Thailand.
