Ken Murphy

Kenneth "Kenny" Murphy is a retired American soccer player who played professionally in the North American Soccer League and is currently the head coach of the Connecticut College men's soccer team.

Youth

In 1976, Murphy graduated from Staples High School where was a two-time All State soccer player and a member of a State Championship soccer team. He also played hockey and was two-time All FCIAC player. He attended the University of Connecticut, playing on the men's soccer team from 1976 to 1979. He completed his undergraduate degree in 1982. In 1986, he earned a master's degree in accounting from Sacred Heart University.

Professional

In 1980, both the Hartford Hellions of the Major Indoor Soccer League and the Detroit Express of the North American Soccer League drafted Murphy. He signed with the Express for the 1980 season. In 1981, he moved to the Washington Diplomats before suffering a career ending knee injury in June.

Coach

After his retirement from playing, Murphy worked in both the American Broadcasting Company and CBS Records accounting sections. He then worked as a commodities broker. In 2003, he became an assistant coach with Brown University's men's soccer team. In June 2009, Connecticut College hired Murphy to coach the men's soccer team.

Kent

Kent /ˈkɛnt/ is a county in South East England and one of the home counties. It borders Greater London to the north west, Surrey to the west, East Sussex to the south west, and across the Thames Estuary is the county of Essex. The county town is Maidstone.

England relied on the county's ports to provide warships through much of its history; the Cinque Ports in the 12th–14th centuries and Chatham Dockyard in the 16th–20th centuries were of particular importance. France can be seen clearly in fine weather from Folkestone and the White Cliffs of Dover. Hills in the form of the North Downs and the Greensand Ridge span the length of the county and in the series of valleys in between and to the south are most of the county's 26 castles.

Written By (simplified Chinese: 再生号; traditional Chinese: 再生號) is a 2009 Hong Kong fantasy drama film co-written, produced, and directed by Wai Ka-Fai, and starring Lau Ching-Wan and Kelly Lin. Lau plays a lawyer who is killed in an accident, leaving behind his wife, daughter, and son. He is resurrected as a character in his daughter's novel, where he finds himself a grieving husband who lost his family and his sight during a car accident, living in an alternate reality. The film premiered at the New York Asian Film Festival in June 2009, and was released theatrically in Hong Kong on 10 July 2009.

Plot

"Lau Ching-Wan plays a lawyer who dies in a car wreck just before answering his daughters question about ghosts, leaving behind his wife, daughter and son. To console herself, his daughter (blind from the crash) writes a novel where she, her mother and brother have died in a car wreck but her father(but blind) has survived. To her surprise, the character of her father in her book decides that HE needs to write a novel to console himself and in his novel he has died but his wife and daughter have lived...and on and on in an endlessly recursive loop, as wounded characters desperately apply fiction to try and dull the sharp edges of their grief."

The Voice of Ireland

The Voice of Ireland is the Irish edition of the international TV franchise The Voice, a reality singing competition created by media tycoon John de Mol. The first series began airing from 8 January 2012 on RTÉ One. The coaches originally were Bressie, Sharon Corr, Kian Egan and Brian Kennedy. Kennedy left after the first series and was replaced by Jamelia. After the second series, Corr quit the show owing to other commitments and was replaced by Dolores O'Riordan. Following series 3, Dolores and Jamelia quit. The current coaches are Bressie, Una Foden, Kian Egan and Rachel Stevens. The show is hosted by Kathryn Thomas and co-hosted by Eoghan McDermott, who also presented backstage show The Voice After Party in Series 3.

The series is part of the The Voice franchise and is based on a similar competition format in the Netherlands entitled The Voice of Holland. The show replaced The All Ireland Talent Show. One of the important premises of the show is the quality of the singing talent. Four coaches, themselves popular performing artists, train the talents in their group and occasionally perform with them. Talents are selected in blind auditions, where the coaches cannot see, but only hear the auditioner.
