Crombie Memorial Stained Glass Window St Machar's Cathedral Aberdeen Scotland
Tour Scotland video of the John Eugene Crombie memorial stained glass window in St Machar's Cathedral on visit to Aberdeen. Born 30th April 1896, died 23rd April 1917. He was born at 91 Onslow Square, London, the only son of John William Crombie, Liberal M.P for Kincardineshire. Eugene as he was always known was a Captain in the Gordon Highlanders who was Killed in Action, St. George's Day, 1917. He was also a War Poet and here is one of his poems. Easter Day, 1917, The Eve of the Battle. I rose and watched the eternal giant of fire, Renew his struggle with the grey monk Dawn, Slowly supreme, though broadening streaks of blood, Besmirch the threadbare cloak, and pour his flood. Of life and strength on our yet sleeping choir. As I went out to church on Easter morn. Returning with the song of birds and men. Acclaiming victory of throbbing life, I saw the fairies of the morning shower, Giving to drink each waking blade and flower,
I saw the new world take Communion then, and now 'tis night and we return to strife.
Huts, France, April, 1917. Eugene is buried in Duisans British Cemetery Etrun, Pas De Calais, France,.

Dr Riek Machar's visited Nebraska in Oct 2012
On October 6, 2012, the Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan advised SPLM-DC to clear the accusations or the party will have difficulties during the parties' registrations.
Few days after the Vice President's speech in Omaha, Nebraska, some people on the worldwide Internet interpreted the statement of the Vice President's wrongly and out of context.
Web interpretation:
Guys, if someone listen to Dr. comment on U-tupe, you may realize Dr. Riek singled out SPLM-DC because there is an oppositinal army that consider Dr. Lam as their commander in chief. A political party can not have separate army other than the national army. Having separate army is the only sole reason VP assert SPLM-DC should be banned in the South. I hope this comment will help some of you who take the comment negatively.
If one read the actual statement word-by word or listened to the message on (youtube), (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-i6hGg3_gU&feature;=em-share_video_user) the above message does not reflects what the Vice President meant. Off course, the interpretation may depend on the individual; but many will conclude the Vice President statement as democratically stated and encouraging.
Per haps the accusation floated around for a long while, however, there hasn't been any official statement from the party's top leaders to repudiate the accusation. The Vice President's Saturday statement reminded the parties members of what the law demands.
In stead for the SPLM-DC members to feel offended, this could be an opportunity to come out democratically and repudiate the accusation that has been floating in the air for so long. Regarding the party qualification for registration, the Vice President referred to all parties to conform to the law during the registration.
" The SPLM-DC off course will fail the registration if it does not clear these accusations. However, this will only happen if substantial evidence that proves the accusation is found." Vice President said. Read the whole excerpt from the Vice President's speech.
"Lam Akol is not being threatened. The SPLM-DC has members in the Parliament it also has members in the state assembly in the Upper Nile.
No body is threatening Lam. But Lam is being accused that he is supporting arms rebellions. And by law, if you raise arms against state, you're committing treason.
Party politic is opened. Any body can create a party as they wished. I had a discussion with the SPLM-DC members and I told them; you correct the situation of Lam. If he is still the leader of the SPLM-DC, these things we hear that he is supporting the arm rebellion, is not going to make him register. Because the law says, no party will have an army.
You must conform to that law. You cannot fight and also at the same time have a registered party. Chose one. If you thing that your issues cannot be handle by talking in political parties' forum, and you think you will fight, and you think you will get support, this is different.
For those who are in contact with Lam, it's important he clears himself on the question of supporting the arms rebellions. The party SPLM-DC is still in Parliament it works-but when the registrations come, every party will be asked who is your leader? We know he is the leader of the SPLM-DC and if he is being accused, and with evidences that he is supporting the arms rebellions, then the SPLM-DC will fail to qualify for the registration."
Based on the above statement, one can concludes the Vice President statement does not banned the SPLM-DC from registration. For those who prefer to discuss issues democratically, this is an opportunity for the SPLM-DC to come out to repudiate and clear the party from these accusations.
