Thames Barrier closing in time lapse, and water flows into park.
Full blog along with still images available at http://michaelsnasdell.blogspot.com/2014/01/high-tide-at-thames-barrier.html High tide, along with storm surge causing the Thames Barrier to be shut for the afternoon. While shut, the water level flooded the banks and into the park adjacent to the Thames Barrier (regular occurrence) Caught in time lapse. Edited to add some audio, so its not so dull to watch :) For the first 2 mins or so, if watched on a decent sized screen you can see the far barriers closing, and the water stop flowing through them. After this time the water begins rising more and breaches the bank. **Edited title and wording in first paragraph of description to avoid exaggerating the situation. Even though the RNLI, Thames Barrier, Police, and Environment Agency were happy with the description and retweeted it. Can't please everyone. ** **Title edited again as it still seems to be annoying people, hopefully this time its more user friendly and less panic inducing and scaremongering**- published: 04 Jan 2014

The Closure of the Thames Barrier
The Closure of the Thames Barrier
Time lapse footage of the Thames Barrier's annual closure, 6 Oct 2013. The Thames Barrier is London's main defence against flooding in the event of a tidal surge. (Around 1m people, more than 10% of the population, live directly on the Thames flood plain). It was completed in 1982 since when it's closed over 120 times to prevent floods. Although the barrier is closed monthly for maintenance, a full tidal check only happens twice a year in the spring and the autumn. Aerial footage shows the extent of flooding along the Thames
This helicopter footage follows the course of the River Thames through Surrey and part of east Berkshire where hundreds of properties have been flooded. Flooding along the banks of the River Thames has been declared a "major incident" as forecasters warned of more rain and snow for large parts of the UK. The Environment Agency has issued 14 severe flood warnings - meaning there is a danger to life - in Berkshire and Surrey, while two remain in Somerset. Severe flood warnings have been issued along the River Thames from Datchet to Shepperton Green, including Ham Court and Chertsey, as river levels in the area are extremely high and are forecast to continue to rise. In the South West, a further two severe flood warnings remain in force at Saltmoor and Northmoor, as flooding continues on the Somerset Levels. England has suffered the wettest January since 1766, with records showing the country is moving towards the wettest three-month winter period in 250 years. Forecasters say another area of low pressure is expected to reach the UK tonight and into tomorrow, bringing more heavy rain. SUBSCRIBE for Latest on UK FLOODS / EXTREME WEATHER / FREEDOM / NEW WORLD ORDER / ELITE AGENDA http://www.Youtube.com/AgendaNWO UK FLOODS - Large Parts of UK UNDER WATER as River Thames Bursts its Banks Boris Johnson today reassured Londoners that "maximum preparations" were under way to help protect the capital from flooding. The Mayor, who held an emergency resilience meeting with police, fire services and councils at City Hall last night, insisted the city was "as prepared as we can be". With the Environment Agency fearing that further rain will result in the wettest winter in 250 years, experts at Deloitte today said the cost of the clear-up could cost insurers £1 billion by April. Fourteen severe flood warnings remain in place along a ten-mile stretch of the Thames with some parts of the river a few miles upstream from London, including Datchet and Wraysbury, under threat. Scientists have told Sky News that groundwater levels are now so high that parts of Britain face a serious risk of flooding for weeks or even months to come. Andy McKenzie, a groundwater scientist at the British Geological Survey, told Sky News that even if the rain stopped today, so much water is soaking through the soil that levels are likely to keep rising for another two months. The risk of flooding could remain high until May, he said. Figures exclusively revealed to Sky News show that boreholes used to measure the height of the water table are overflowing in many areas, with the highest levels ever recorded. According to the data from the British Geological Survey nine of the 14 boreholes in southern England are now showing "exceptionally high levels". Floods across Britain. Groundwater flood alerts are now in place across much of southern Britain At Chilgrove House in Sussex the groundwater level at the end of January beat records going back 179 years. And at a borehole at The Well House Inn in Surrey the extraordinary rainfall has pushed up the water table by 20 metres in the last two weeks. The British Geological Survey estimates 1.6 million properties in England and Wales are at risk of groundwater flooding. They tend to be in low-lying areas where water is pushed up through rocks. They can be in normally dry areas, far from rivers and streams. The Environment Agency (EA) has already issued groundwater flood alerts for parts of south London, Kent, Surrey, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset. Residents have been evacuated from their flood-hit homes along the River Thames and thousands of other properties are at risk as record water levels are set to rise further. Parts of the Thames Valley are submerged with hundreds of homes flooded, and levels in at least 10 places at an all-time high. With more rain forecast to fall overnight, police have declared a "major incident" in east Berkshire. Speaking in regards to Massachusetts' new $50 million climate change proposal, MIT Professor Richard Lindzen, a leading figure in the climate change movement, pointed out the absurdity of blaming every weather event on global warming and climate change. "Global warming, climate change, all these things are just a dream come true for politicians. The opportunities for taxation, for policies, for control, for crony capitalism are just immense, you can see their eyes bulge," Lindzen said. From 2007 to 2009, Al Gore hysterically warned that the North Pole would be completely "ice-free" by 2013. Instead, 2013 experienced record breaking cold and major growth in Arctic ice. flooding floods rain "heavy rain" warning prepare "river thames" london uk "united kingdom" river somerset "royal marines" evacuation damage "home insurance" "house insurance" property crisis england "london england" "british army" army survive survival rainfall nature "act of god" weather "extreme weather" extreme protection resident transport train government government 2014 climate "green energy" "climate change" "global warming" humanity u.s. australia "united states" usa america entertainment news media "agenda nwo" alex jones david icke lindsey williams bill clinton obama mars moon weather manipulation modification jet stream cloud seeding what in the world are they spraying chemtrails contrails proof wake up matrix Climate change alarmists have become so crazed in their beliefs that some have attempted to equate skepticism with racism, claiming any denial of global warming is a "sickness" in need of "treatment." Unsurprisingly, major environmental issues such as the ongoing Fukushima nuclear disaster are completely ignored by Gore and company. Given the massive amount of money Gore has continued to make from generating climate fear, it seems unlikely that any real disaster unable to generate cash will receive proper attention. Prince Charles has called people who deny human-made climate change a "headless chicken brigade" who are ignoring overwhelming scientific evidence.- published: 12 Feb 2014

London Thames Barrier - U.K.
London Thames Barrier - U.K.
The Thames Barrier is the world's second-largest movable flood barrier (after the Oosterscheldekering in the Netherlands) and is located downstream of central London, United Kingdom. Operational since 1982, its purpose is to prevent the floodplain of all but the easternmost boroughs of Greater London from being flooded by exceptionally high tides and storm surges moving up from the North Sea. When needed, it is closed (raised) during high tide; at low tide it can be opened to enhance the river's flow towards the sea. Built approximately 3 km due east of the Isle of Dogs, its northern bank is in Silvertown in the London Borough of Newham and its southern bank is in the New Charlton area of the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The report of Sir Hermann Bondi on the North Sea flood of 1953 affecting parts of the Thames Estuary and parts of London was instrumental in the building of the barrier.- published: 27 Nov 2013
