This is the site of Mireuksa Temple located in Giyang-li of Iksan-gun According to Samgungnyusa (Memorabilia of the Three Dynasty), on the way that King Mu of Baekje Dynasty and his queen went to Sajasa Temple, they saw trinities of Maitreya Buddha appearing at the pond down the Mt.
Yonghwasan.
Then, on the request of the queen, King Mu let the pond reclaimed and pagodas, halls for the image of Buddha and ambulatory built.
According to the record, Mireuksa Temple was built during the reign of King Mu and disclosed in Joseon Dynasty.
The temple has two stone pagodas, namely Dongtap (east pagoda), Seotop (west pagoda), one wooden pagoda between them, and halls for the image of Buddha behind the pagodas.
The arrangement to the buildings of the temple is very unique with the ambulatory dividing the buildings.
All the halls for the image of Buddha have front 5 rooms and 4 side rooms.
And the space under the room seems to be made to protect the wooden floor against the moisture.
Some buildings of the temple equipped with Ondol (floor heating system) are important to study the development of Ondol in the era of Goryeo and Joseon. The excavated relics of this temple include roof-tiles, some of which the letters are written on, earthen vessels, metals, and wooden materials.
The Seotap (west pagoda) designated the National Treasure No.
11 is really valuable as the oldest stone pagoda.
In pavilion, you can see the miniature of the restored Mireuksa Temple. Mireuksa, which has really great historical importance, is a kind of guardian temple built with an intention of protecting the state with the sprite

익산시 금마면에 위치한 백제시대 사찰, 미륵사지입니다. 좋은 소식이 있다고 해서 한 걸음에 달려왔어요. 2015년 7월 4일에 백제역사유적지구 익산 미륵사지가 세계유산으로 등재된다고 합니다. 미륵사지 크기가 어마어마하네요. 그렇죠? 면적만도 동양 최대 규모를 자랑하는 곳이에요. 한반도 남서부에 터를 잡은 백제는 융성한 문화를 일군 왕조인데요. 부여나 공주에 비해 상대적으로 많이 알려지지 않은 백제 유적지인 익산은 7세기 초 백제의 30대 임금인 무왕이 강력한 왕국을 건설하기 위해 노력한 흔적이 곳곳에 남아있는 곳입니다. 특히 백제 최대 절터인 미륵사지는 백제만의 독창적인 건축 기술을 엿볼 수 있는 증거들로 가득했는데요. 기둥을 높게 세워서 지붕을 높게 하지 않아도 건축물이 높게 올라가는 거죠. 기초를 높게 해서 1.5층이 되도록 한 것이 백제 건축의 특징입니다. 원래는 멋진 사찰인데 지금은 그 터만 남아 있다는 거죠? 네, 안타깝게도 그렇습니다. 하지만 미륵사지는 1400년 전 창건 당시와 거의 변함없이 주변 자연경관들이 유지 돼 온 역사적 진정성과 독창적 건축 예술성을 인정받아서 세계 유산에 이름을 올릴 예정입니다. 특이한 구조가 이번에 미륵사지가 세계유산으로 등재되는데 중요한 역할을 했던 것입니다. 미륵사지는 3탑 3금당이 병렬로 되어 있는데 이런 구조는 동아시아 중국, 한국, 일본 중에서 유일하게 우리나라에만 있는 구조가 되겠습니다. 보통 탑 하나, 금당 하나, 법당입니다. 보통은 하나만 있는데 세 개가 있는 유일한 형태가 되겠습니다. 유일하게 남아있던 국보 제11호로 알려진 미륵사지 석탑인데요. 현재 복원 작업이 한창입니다. 이렇게 개방이 되어서 다 볼 수 있네요. 천 년이 넘는 세월을 견뎌온 미륵사지 석탑은 우리나라에 남아 있는 가장 오래 되고 커다란 규모를 자랑하는 석탑인데요. 지난 1998년, 안전을 위해 보수를 결정한 후, 첫 해체작업이 진행됐습니다. 목탑에서 석탑으로 넘어가는 과정에서만 볼 수 있는 백제인들의 뛰어난 건축기술은 현대인들의 상상 그 이상입니다. 알려지지 않았던 백제 역사가 열리는 순간이었죠? 맞아요. 이 날 외호 사리봉안기 등 사리장엄에서만 출토된 유물만 총 9천 점이 넘습니다. 그 중에서도 금으로 만들어진 사리봉안기에는 백제 왕비가 재물을 바쳐 이곳에 미륵사를 세우고 왕실에 안녕을 기원한다는 내용이 기록되어 있는데요. 미륵사가 백제 무왕 때 건립 됐음을 증명하는 결정적인 자료가 됐습니다.

Mireuksa
Mireuksa was the largest Buddhist temple in the ancient kingdom of Baekje in the Korean Peninsula. The temple was established in 602 by King Mu and is located 36.012083 N, 127.031028 E, modern Iksan, North Jeolla Province, South Korea. The site was excavated in 1980, disclosing many hitherto unknown facts about Baekje architecture. The stone pagoda at Mireuksa is one of two extant Baekje pagodas. It is also the largest as well as being among the oldest of all Korean pagodas.
The legend of the creation of Mireuksa is told in the Samgungnyusa. King Mu and his queen were said to have seen a vision of Maitreya at a pond on Yonghwasan. The King promptly had the pond drained to establish the Mireuksa temple complex. The nine-storey wooden pagoda that once stood in the center of the complex is said to have been the work of Baekje master craftsman Abiji.
Designated South Korean Historic Site No. 150, Mireuksa has been partially restored and now includes a museum.
Layout
The complex included a central wooden pagoda flanked by two stone pagodas. A causeway seems to have led to the outer entrance of the walled complex. Miruksa temple had a unique arrangement of three pagodas erected in a straight line going from east to west, each with a hall to its north. Each pagoda and hall appear to have been surrounded by covered corridors, giving the appearance of three separate temples of a style known as "one Hall-one Pagoda."

André Rieu
André Léon Marie Nicolas Rieu (born 1 October 1949) is a Dutch violinist and conductor best known for creating the waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra. Together they have turned classical and waltz music into a worldwide concert touring act, as successful as some of the biggest global pop and rock music acts. For his work, Rieu has been awarded such honours as the Order of the Netherlands Lion by the Netherlands, the Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by France, and the Honorary Medal by his native Province of Limburg.
Rieu began studying violin at the age of five. He created the Maastricht Salon Orchestra in 1978, and went on to create the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1988.
Early life
The name Rieu is of French Huguenot origin. Rieu's father, of the same name, was conductor of the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra. Showing early promise, André began studying violin at the age of five. From a very young age, he developed a fascination with orchestra. He studied violin at the Conservatoire Royal in Liège and at the Conservatorium Maastricht, (1968–1973), studying under Jo Juda and Herman Krebbers. From 1974 to 1977, he attended the Music Academy in Brussels, studying with André Gertler, finally receiving his degree "Premier Prix" from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

This is the site of Mireuksa Temple located in Giyang-li of Iksan-gun According to Samgungnyusa (Memorabilia of the Three Dynasty), on the way that King Mu of Baekje Dynasty and his queen went to Sajasa Temple, they saw trinities of Maitreya Buddha appearing at the pond down the Mt.
Yonghwasan.
Then, on the request of the queen, King Mu let the pond reclaimed and pagodas, halls for the image of Buddha and ambulatory built.
According to the record, Mireuksa Temple was built during the reign of King Mu and disclosed in Joseon Dynasty.
The temple has two stone pagodas, namely Dongtap (east pagoda), Seotop (west pagoda), one wooden pagoda between them, and halls for the image of Buddha behind the pagodas.
The arrangement to the buildings of the temple is very unique with the ambulatory dividing the buildings.
All the halls for the image of Buddha have front 5 rooms and 4 side rooms.
And the space under the room seems to be made to protect the wooden floor against the moisture.
Some buildings of the temple equipped with Ondol (floor heating system) are important to study the development of Ondol in the era of Goryeo and Joseon. The excavated relics of this temple include roof-tiles, some of which the letters are written on, earthen vessels, metals, and wooden materials.
The Seotap (west pagoda) designated the National Treasure No.
11 is really valuable as the oldest stone pagoda.
In pavilion, you can see the miniature of the restored Mireuksa Temple. Mireuksa, which has really great historical importance, is a kind of guardian temple built with an intention of protecting the state with the sprite

익산시 금마면에 위치한 백제시대 사찰, 미륵사지입니다. 좋은 소식이 있다고 해서 한 걸음에 달려왔어요. 2015년 7월 4일에 백제역사유적지구 익산 미륵사지가 세계유산으로 등재된다고 합니다. 미륵사지 크기가 어마어마하네요. 그렇죠? 면적만도 동양 최대 규모를 자랑하는 곳이에요. 한반도 남서부에 터를 잡은 백제는 융성한 문화를 일군 왕조인데요. 부여나 공주에 비해 상대적으로 많이 알려지지 않은 백제 유적지인 익산은 7세기 초 백제의 30대 임금인 무왕이 강력한 왕국을 건설하기 위해 노력한 흔적이 곳곳에 남아있는 곳입니다. 특히 백제 최대 절터인 미륵사지는 백제만의 독창적인 건축 기술을 엿볼 수 있는 증거들로 가득했는데요. 기둥을 높게 세워서 지붕을 높게 하지 않아도 건축물이 높게 올라가는 거죠. 기초를 높게 해서 1.5층이 되도록 한 것이 백제 건축의 특징입니다. 원래는 멋진 사찰인데 지금은 그 터만 남아 있다는 거죠? 네, 안타깝게도 그렇습니다. 하지만 미륵사지는 1400년 전 창건 당시와 거의 변함없이 주변 자연경관들이 유지 돼 온 역사적 진정성과 독창적 건축 예술성을 인정받아서 세계 유산에 이름을 올릴 예정입니다. 특이한 구조가 이번에 미륵사지가 세계유산으로 등재되는데 중요한 역할을 했던 것입니다. 미륵사지는 3탑 3금당이 병렬로 되어 있는데 이런 구조는 동아시아 중국, 한국, 일본 중에서 유일하게 우리나라에만 있는 구조가 되겠습니다. 보통 탑 하나, 금당 하나, 법당입니다. 보통은 하나만 있는데 세 개가 있는 유일한 형태가 되겠습니다. 유일하게 남아있던 국보 제11호로 알려진 미륵사지 석탑인데요. 현재 복원 작업이 한창입니다. 이렇게 개방이 되어서 다 볼 수 있네요. 천 년이 넘는 세월을 견뎌온 미륵사지 석탑은 우리나라에 남아 있는 가장 오래 되고 커다란 규모를 자랑하는 석탑인데요. 지난 1998년, 안전을 위해 보수를 결정한 후, 첫 해체작업이 진행됐습니다. 목탑에서 석탑으로 넘어가는 과정에서만 볼 수 있는 백제인들의 뛰어난 건축기술은 현대인들의 상상 그 이상입니다. 알려지지 않았던 백제 역사가 열리는 순간이었죠? 맞아요. 이 날 외호 사리봉안기 등 사리장엄에서만 출토된 유물만 총 9천 점이 넘습니다. 그 중에서도 금으로 만들어진 사리봉안기에는 백제 왕비가 재물을 바쳐 이곳에 미륵사를 세우고 왕실에 안녕을 기원한다는 내용이 기록되어 있는데요. 미륵사가 백제 무왕 때 건립 됐음을 증명하는 결정적인 자료가 됐습니다.

[TV ZONE] The Octagonal Nine-story Stone Pagoda of Woljeongsa Temple
Iryeon, who was a renowned Buddhist monk of the late Goryeo Period, selected Odaesan Mountain as the most auspicious site on the Korean Peninsula, and as the place where Buddhism would greatly prosper. Woljeongsa Temple is located at the foot of the mountain, and is famous for the needle fir forest that lines the path to the temple. The forest is full of almost 1,700 needle firs. 00:38 Mireuksa Temple Site - For our first stop of the day, we headed to Mireuksa Temple Site, which is an ancient Korean temple site located in Iksan. Much of the original temple and area has been destroyed, but efforts are being made to restore and renovate it.
2:36 Rack-Si-Ru Restaurant - For lunch we drove into Iksan city and went to a restaurant called Rack-Si-Ru Restaurant, known for serving Korean style salted grilled fish (we also ate this same type of grilled fish in Seoul). The meal was excellent, especially because the fish was served with all the different side dishes. Price - 8,000 Won ($6.83) per person
6:05 Special Forces - 30,000 Won ($25.60) for 2 - Our next activity of the day we drove over to the Special Forces arena, and got all geared up in combat gear and had a match against a random team. It was pretty fun, and a lot of good exercise running around.
7:56 Daedunsan Provincial Park (대둔산도립공원) - We then took a drive over to Daedunsan Provincial Park (대둔산도립공원), which is yet another beautiful mountain park in Jeonbuk province. Although I would have loved to go hiking, we didn’t have too much time, so we took the Cable Car - 9,000 Won ($7.68) round trip, to the top of the mountain for a nice view and then back down again.
9:50 Yetchon Makgeolli (막걸리) - Makgeolli (막걸리) is a type of Korean rice wine, and while you can get it all over Korean, Jeonju Makgeolli (막걸리) takes thing to the next level. Yetchon Makgeolli is a famous restaurant that specializes in makgeolli, and when you order a kettle full of it, it comes with and unbelievable selection of Korean dishes. And when you order more makgeolli, they give you more and more food. We literally had a double decker layer of food on our table when we were eating. And these were just like simple Korean dishes, these were some of the most amazing Korean dishes I had during my trip to Jeonju. The loud ambiance of the restaurant, the makgeolli, and all the food made it a truly memorable Korean food experience. Total price - 65,000 Won ($55.46) for everything.

00:38 Mireuksa Temple Site - For our first stop of the day, we headed to Mireuksa Temple Site, which is an ancient Korean temple site located in Iksan. Much of the original temple and area has been destroyed, but efforts are being made to restore and renovate it.
2:36 Rack-Si-Ru Restaurant - For lunch we drove into Iksan city and went to a restaurant called Rack-Si-Ru Restaurant, known for serving Korean style salted grilled fish (we also ate this same type of grilled fish in Seoul). The meal was excellent, especially because the fish was served with all the different side dishes. Price - 8,000 Won ($6.83) per person
6:05 Special Forces - 30,000 Won ($25.60) for 2 - Our next activity of the day we drove over to the Special Forces arena, and got all geared up in combat gear and had a match against a random team. It was pretty fun, and a lot of good exercise running around.
7:56 Daedunsan Provincial Park (대둔산도립공원) - We then took a drive over to Daedunsan Provincial Park (대둔산도립공원), which is yet another beautiful mountain park in Jeonbuk province. Although I would have loved to go hiking, we didn’t have too much time, so we took the Cable Car - 9,000 Won ($7.68) round trip, to the top of the mountain for a nice view and then back down again.
9:50 Yetchon Makgeolli (막걸리) - Makgeolli (막걸리) is a type of Korean rice wine, and while you can get it all over Korean, Jeonju Makgeolli (막걸리) takes thing to the next level. Yetchon Makgeolli is a famous restaurant that specializes in makgeolli, and when you order a kettle full of it, it comes with and unbelievable selection of Korean dishes. And when you order more makgeolli, they give you more and more food. We literally had a double decker layer of food on our table when we were eating. And these were just like simple Korean dishes, these were some of the most amazing Korean dishes I had during my trip to Jeonju. The loud ambiance of the restaurant, the makgeolli, and all the food made it a truly memorable Korean food experience. Total price - 65,000 Won ($55.46) for everything.

Iryeon, who was a renowned Buddhist monk of the late Goryeo Period, selected Odaesan Mountain as the most auspicious site on the Korean Peninsula, and as the place where Buddhism would greatly prosper. Woljeongsa Temple is located at the foot of the mountain, and is famous for the needle fir forest that lines the path to the temple. The forest is full of almost 1,700 needle firs. Most of which are more than 80 years old. It is called "a forest of a thousand years" because it shares the history of the temple. At the end of this beautiful trail, visitors can see the cultural heritages that represent the magnificent Buddhist culture of the Goryeo Dynasty. These include, the Octagonal Nine-story Stone Pagoda, which is regarded as the greatest stone pagoda to be built during the early Goryeo Period, and the sarira reliquaries that were discovered inside the pagoda.
