THE INHABITAT TEAM
JILL FEHRENBACHER – Founder, Editor-in-Chief
Jill is the founder of Inhabitat, as well as a LEED-AP green designer and green design consultant based in New York City. She created Inhabitat in the Spring of 2005 as a way to catalog her search for new ways to improve the world through forward-thinking, high-tech, and environmentally conscious design. Educated at Brown University, where she received a B.A. in Art Semiotics, and Columbia University, where she pursued a Masters of Architecture, she currently resides in New York City, which so far has been good for her obsession with rooftop farming and vegan fast food restaurants.

YUKA YONEDA – Managing Editor, Inhabitat NYC
Yuka is a writer and reporter from Queens, New York. She received her bachelor’s in business management from Stony Brook University and holds a degree in exhibit design from the Fashion Institute of Technology. In addition to being the NYC editor of Inhabitat, Yuka is a practicing turophile and a known JeDIY master. Her love of maker culture and crafting has a lot to do with what she’s seen around her in NYC, and she believes that if you can “make it” here, you can “make it” anywhere. Yuka’s refashioned clothing and DIY ideas have been featured on The Today Show, Glamour, HGTV.com and other websites and magazines. Yuka also writes for Ecouterre and has written for The Daily Green and The New York Times.

TAFLINE LAYLIN - News Editor
After receiving her B.A. from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Tafline led “eco-friendly” camping trips throughout North America. It soon dawned on her that she was instead leaving behind a trail of gas fumes, plastic bottles and Pringles. In fact, wherever she traveled – whether it was Viet Nam or South Africa or England – it became clear how inefficiently the mandate to re-think our consumer culture is reaching the general public.
So she has picked up her mighty pen to bring better exposure to environmental issues. At other times, she waxes philosophical about culture and travel on her personal blog. Tafline was born in Iran and raised in the United States, and is currently based in South Africa. She also blogs for www.greenprophet.com and her work has appeared in Africa Geographic, The Ecologist, Urban Green File, and other publications.
.
ALYSSA ALIMURUNG – Operations Assistant
Alyssa is a contributing writer for Ecouterre and Inhabitots and in her spare time, a coder-in-training. She enjoys learning about sustainable design, ethical fashion, innovative technology and crowdfunding projects. Alyssa graduated from Binghamton University and is based in NYC — though she would love to live in Barcelona someday. Follow her eco-curations on Twitter @nahnah_alyssa and Pinterest..

LANA WINTER-HÉBERT – Design Editor
An avid permaculture gardener, locavore, and novice (but enthusiastic!) canner, Lana Winter-Hébert joins Inhabitat after spending the last decade working as a writer and event guru for non-profit/eco organisations. In addition to her work with this site, she writes features and blog posts for Vegan Cuts, Green Pigeon, and several event planning websites based in London, UK. Currently, Lana divides her time between writing, and doing collaborative projects with Winter-Hébert: the design studio she runs with her husband. Best described as “endearingly eccentric”, she spends any spare moments wrestling with knitting projects, and devouring novels by obscure Czech writers. A Toronto native, she has recently chosen to leave that splendid city in favour of a tranquil lakeside nook in rural Quebec, where she and her Sir co-habitate with two hand-raised sparrows that live in their writing-desk.
..
LUCY WANG – Features Editor
Lucy got hooked on the ideas of sustainable design ever since a life-changing summer in Portland, Ore. where she learned about “green” living and how to ride a bike. After graduating with a landscape architecture degree, she set off on a half-year trip across North America on mass transit to explore landscape architecture sites and cities, documenting parts of her journey at Landscape Voice. Through the trip, she cultivated a love for communications and has now decided to focus her skills on writing, advocating and engaging the public on green, transit-friendly initiatives. Lucy currently lives in Baltimore with dreams of moving out west.

Beth Buczynski is a freelance writer and editor currently living in the shadow of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Her passion for the planet started with the Truffula Trees, and she’s never stopped trying to make this planet a better place to live. She writes about clean technology, sustainable living, and environmental activism for EcoSalon and Care2, just to name a few. Beth believes collaborative consumption and opensource innovation is key to ending our mindless waste. Read her thoughts on the overlap between sharing and sustainability at Shareable.net. Follow Beth on Twitter as @ecosphericblog.
BRIDGETTE MEINHOLD - Architecture Editor
Bridgette is a LEED accredited sustainability consultant based in Park City, UT and helps individuals and companies reduce their environmental impact. With degrees in Mechanical and Environmental Engineering, she has experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency, green building and sustainable development. She has written for Low Impact Living and Evolo Magazine. When she’s not calculating carbon footprints, recycling materials into new things, or writing blog posts, she spends her time with her dog hiking in the woods, skiing and painting in her recycled shipping container studio. She recently got married to the man of her dreams, a handsome firefighter/paramedic. And she is currently trying to talk herself into writing her first novel, which will most definitely have something to do with sustainability.
LORI ZIMMER - Art Editor

She has written for Ecouterre, Inhabitots, ArtSlant, Patrick McMullan Mag, Flavorpill, WhiteHot and ArtFetch. She received her MA in art, media and business at FIT. After earning her B.A. in Creative Writing from The University of Arizona, she explored the world as a travel and spa writer, reporting for multiple newspaper and magazine publications. After having her daughter, Beth swapped airline miles and body wraps for long stroller walks and quick showers. Beth loves writing and editing for several parenting and eco based websites while reporting from the home front with firsthand accounts of raising her son and daughter. There’s a humorous memoir brewing in her daily, which will most likely have to wait to find its way to the page until her kids leave for college.

LIDIJA GROZDANIC – Contributing Writer
Lidija is an architect and environmental journalist. Going back and forth between writing and designing, she finds the two areas mutually inspiring. Lidija has also produced work for Internews’ Earth Journalism Network, GreenUp Blog and eVolo Magazine.
